The grilled chicken fiesta taco salad was incredible. This is our second time coming here and the chicken is so dang good! The seasoning they put on it is some of the best I've had for mexican food. I add salsa verde to that fiesta salad and it's so hard to beat. The salsa is pretty good. Service was a tad slow but not that big of a deal, It's not as big as your usual mexican restaurant. This place is worth driving an extra 5-10 minutes out of the way. read more

The molcajete was awesome! It was a lot of food and very tasty! The rest of the family enjoyed their fajitas and chimichangas.

Food was bland, reminded me of something for people who only like the kids menu. We were served ok but the girl who waited on us was not very attentive , giggling with other servers, and only saw her at the end of our meal. No checking in or drink refills. Food was great. Very fresh and flavorful. We ordered enchiladas & a chicken chimichanga. The lunch special prices are great. The restaurant is very clean and the decor is nice. When we are in the area again, we will return. Service was good, however a bit of a language barrier, which made getting my order correct impossible. I wanted to switch out rice & beans for grilled vegetables, as I am diabetic & try to reduce carbs as much as possible. When I asked for grilled vegetables as a substitute, he stated 'yes, ok, no problem', but when the meal arrived there were no vegetables. I asked for the vegetables again & he brought out sliced raw onion & raw green peppers. I also had to ask for the guacamole salad that came with the meal. I just decided to go with it. read more

The food was good that we had, but we couldn't get shredded beef they only have hamburger which is not traditional. I tried their birra which was quite tasty very flavorful. My husband got carnitas and it was in the top 20 of the carnitas we have tried. Believe me we have the Mexican food credo! The fundido was good but the wait staff didn't bring us appetizer plates to share and it was too runny for the fork or knife they gave us and it dripped off the chips onto the table destroying our only napkin. We had a good laugh over how ridiculous it was. They brought tortillas...flour...without offering corn as a choice. I hope they have corn if I ever go back to give them another chance. Neither of us like flour tortillas but we just ate it with chips once the waitress solved our spoon and plate problem. The decor is cute and touristy. It was lunch so I didn't get to try a margarita which is my favorite drink...or maybe a kir royal...but anyway I've had a LOT of margaritas I'll let you know if we go back for dinner. read more

Last week Dad, Uncle Carl, and I tried out El Mezcal Mexican Grill in Cullman. The chips and salsa were definitely fresh. The chips were hot, light, and crunchy, and the salsa was very good. Dad and Carl each got a chicken chimichanga with the traditional sides of rice, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream. Pretty good, but average for around here. I went for the birria taco, and it did not disappoint. Very meaty and flavorful. I also got a beef tongue taco and a carnitas taco. Both were good, but the carnitas were phenomenal! I don't know how they packed that much flavor into the pork, but they did! I got a side of some sort of hot sauce unlike anywhere I've ever been. It was really spicy but SO good! Just in small doses. I will definitely go back and will probably just get the carnitas plate. I want a whole plate full of that! We had awesome service from Candy. The lunch dates were perfection. #HeatherEats read more

Great Mexican food. I got a combination plate with chicken tacos and cheese enchiladas. It was very good. The beans and rice that come with the combo plate were good, so you know it is legit Mexican food. Everyone in our party was happy with their order. The chips and salsa were good as well. Stopped in here for a late lunch on a Sunday. It was nice to find a good restaurant open on Sunday in Cullman. Tucked into the back of a strip mall, the outside of the restaurant is drab and deceiving. Once you enter the doors you'll find a festively adorned , well lit Mexican restaurant. The service was excellent. They were prompt in taking our orders and delivering our food and drinks. Waitstaff were eager to fill our drinks and bring us refills of chips and salsa. We ordered a shrimp quesadilla and the taco salad with carne asada. Both entries were very good. The carne asada is some of the best in the area. The quesadilla was stuffed with butter marinated shrimp. My partner stated it was one of the best they've tasted. Our entire meal was $26. My son picked this place out. We would have never even seen it. I had the burrito el mezcal, my wife stayed true to the chimchanga, my son did the kid burger and curl fries aka fresn fries on the menu. We finished it all off with fried ice cream.
