We arrived in town and stopped for lunch on this rainy afternoon. The hostess was less than enthusiastic about seating us and actually a bit rude. We should have cut our losses there. After being seated I ordered a michelada and was told they were out of the ingredients to make one. Seriously? Clamato, Tajín and beer. Okay... Our server is the only good thing about this entire visit. He was very polite and friendly. I ordered the "Mexican lasagna," and my wife had the Pollo Con Hondas. Which obviously means very bland and dry chicken. The "lasagna" was essentially just chicken, onions, peppers and mushrooms slapped between two soggy tortillas. Neither dish was very good at all. If you want decent Tex-Mex, I would advise you not to eat at this establishment. I really don't like to leave one star reviews but this definitely is a one star experience. read more

Was back in town and my favorite place to eat was closed on Monday night, so decided to give this place another go as it was right by my hotel. Food and service was way better than my visit two years ago. Not sure if I caught them on a bad night two years ago, but this time the food came out quickly. Service: prompt, efficient, friendly. Bar: big surprise, lots of choice. Attractive back bar. Food: big menu yet creative. Doing a lot with shrimp. My fav however is the chicken with peppers. Spicy not not hot. Beaten chicken breast--but not dry, moist. My only complaint is with the refried pinto beans--prefer black beans. The servers are wearing masks, the seating is socially distanced, and the staff is sanitizing between customers. The menus common use menus so I'm not sure how much they get cleaned. The bus boy was wearing his mask incorrectly the whole time and not putting it over his nose, but the front of house workers and servers were all pretty good about their masks. paper and the salt and pepper isn't on the table to reduce high touch items. The restaurant is decorated beautifully. I had the Ricardo's steak and it was very well cooked and tasted great. I asked for the sides replaced with Spanish rice and retried beans and it also came with tortillas, so I was able to make my own steak tacos which were also excellent. Heads up: even if you purchase large quest, you have to PAY for chip refills. 2.25 per basket. Chips are thick- so for us, not even worth it at all. We just prefer thin and salsa is kind of bland, so definitely not worth paying for at all IMO. We came in early on Mother's Day, this restaurant is 4 miles from our house so we have requested it many, many times over the years. There was no wait and staff was friendly. Food is mediocre. With the 100 (not literally, but seems like it ) other Mexican restaurants in our small town, that do offer unlimited chips to customers- we definitely will not be back here ever again. I got takeout Well I have to honestly say the doors are the coolest doors to a restaurant I've ever seen.. and a little metal guys all around the restaurant are pretty neat as well. Decoration is somewhat of like romantic fantasy setting like you're walking into the underworld or something beautiful.. as well as a music just being very soothing. The salsa was fairly basic, but I was able to add hot sauce to spice mine up to my tasting preference. They have an ok selection of beer and margaritas. I like that they have multiple size options for the margaritas and you can choose a salt or sugar rim. I ordered the chilaquiles meal and was IN LOVE!! It was the perfect proportions of chicken, cheese, chips, and sauce. They give you lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and shredded cheese on the side. Overall great first experience here! Large parking area was pretty full on a Sunday around 11:30. But upon entering there were plenty of seats at booths and tables to go along with bar seating. Quickly seated and served chips and got my drink order in to look over the menu. Plenty of the normal Mexican offerings. One thing to keep in mind the standard lunch menu isn't available on Sunday. After going through everything the tamales looked (menu pic....I know you're never supposed to go off a menu pic) Went with the pork ones and was surprised to see that they came topped with pork and a salsa. To be totally fair it didn't look like the picture (I know you're surprised) and I probably wouldn't have ordered if the picture was a little more accurate to the real life portrayal...just saying! Anyways, it was actually really good! Great flavor and an exceptionally large portion. Was more than adequately filled by the time my meal was almost totally eaten. Also, what I love about this place is they bring you salsa and a mini carafe of salsa so you can refill your own salsa bowl if you run out. Hadn't been in several years because it was so bad then and even charged extra for additional baskets of chips. Only Mexican restaurant I know in town who does that. Only went this time to join birthday party of about 20. Dish I ordered was choice of steak or chicken. I said grilled chicken and little did I know there was a $2.99 up charge for grilled chicken. You've got to be kidding.! If I'd known that I would have ordered the steak. They probably would have found a way to upcharge on that too even though it was one of the choices. Mediocre food at best and slightly cool beer. What really sealed the deal of never going back was them refusing to serve our friend a drink who came in when we were paying. it was about 840 pm and when she went to the bar they told her they would not serve her because our group was tipsy! I couldnt believe it! Responsible professional adults in their fifties and sixties having dinner and 2 drinks each at most while celebrating a friend turning 55 and then you tell a 65 yr old woman who came to the party as we were paying that she can't get a drink because her group is tipsy! People in our group who USED to go there regularly until tonight said manager is always trying to get people out before closing time. if that's the case they should have just said so instead of an outright lie about our group and not serving our friend. They sure didn't mind taking our money with those ridiculous upcharges. Then they locked the door and other people were trying to go in and it wasn't 900 pm yet, their posted closing time. BUENAVISTA YOU JUST LOST A LOT OF FUTURE REPEAT BUSINESS AND WITH WORD OF MOUTH ADVERTISING AND POOR REVIEWS YOU SHOULD LOSE A LOT MORE. When we arrived the restaurant was very busy but we were seated right away and drinks and chips were brought right away.
