Went here off of a recommendation from someone I ran into on Quantico base. This was a nice little hole in the wall spot. The server was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the jalapeño margarita, first time ever. It had a good spicy kick. Took me by surprise at first but adjusted. The Molcajete was ok. I wanted something different from my norm fajita. It came w chicken, steak, shrimp and chorizo (I believe). The steak and chicken were little bland but the sauce that came w it had good flavor to compensate. It's apparent that there's an insect issue or that proper protocols aren't in place to mitigate unhealthy and unsanitary food preparation. I stopped in for a late lunch (3 pm) on a Sunday afternoon & had the entire dining room to myself. The booths are comfortable & the service is very kind. I ordered the Steak Burrito ($11) & a 20-oz bottle of Diet Coke ($3). The burrito had steak, beans & cheese & was seared so the cheese melted & browned. It was delicious & a much better way of preparing burritos compared to the large, overstuffed ones we see in California. I also liked that the lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream & guacamole were served on the side. Even despite the limited dining options in the area, I would plan on returning to this restaurant. The pictures don't do justice for this place. We walked into such a special restaurant during our visit. Hector, the chef, truly brings this place together. Our family stopped in for some lunch and we came out learning the history of this restaurant and seeing the humble pride of the chef who has so much experience. He genuinely cares for his customers and the well being of the restaurant. We started with Chicharron with guacamole for appetizer. It was the perfect crisp on the outside. The guacamole was so fresh and a perfect mix with the meat. For lunch, we had a couple tacos and shared the Chile Relleno! It was such a wonderful meal. Even the kids burrito had a wonderful flavor. We will surely be back to visit to try other entrees as this as it's conveniently located outside of Quantico base. On my never ending quest to find great street tacos in the DMV, I visited this establishment. Sadly, my quest still continues. I ordered two Al pastor and two carne asada tacos, and a side of frijoles. Service was great, my server was very prompt and cordial so now issues there. The tacos came out and as usual, I was excited for the potential of good tacos. First, I liked the fact that they fried the tortillas so they had that slight crunch. The Al pastor tacos were...they weren't bad but they just existed. The meat had zero flavor. I did garnish all four of them with the green salsa but the salsa also just existed. It didn't have much flavor either. The carne asada was better, those actually tasted like seasoned meat. The beans though, the beans were good. Im sorry let me put some respect on the establishment, they are listed as frijoles on the menu, not beans. Highly recommend getting a side of those. Id try the restaurant again but would prob get something besides tacos. read more

The photo looks great but when brought to the table, it was bland and not well portion. There wasn't any cheese and less toppings. The $1.99 tacos, my friend order all five meat selection. It was flavorless and a little disappointing. The only thing was flavorful was the stuffed mozzarella cheese Chile relleno. Our server was friendly and attentive. Drinks came out about the same time as our appetizer. Although they had the music playing, it was the quietest Mexican restaurant I've been to. After our food was brought out we didn't see our waiter for about 30 minutes. When we finally saw them again, they quickly bussed our table before we could ask for the check. Waited about 10 more minutes before we saw them again and could ask for it. If you want a quiet, slow restaurant with decent food at a $10-$20 per person price range this is a good place. This place claimed to have authentic Mexican food but we were very disappointed by the food. The chicken and beef have a really weird flavor like the food is being cooked on a grill that they forgot to clean. The shrimp seemed okay, but couldn't make up for this problem. Came here for Taco Tuesday, two dollar tacos. Ordered the house made guacamole, 2 Carne Asada, 1 Al Pastor, and 1 Lengua taco. They make the guacamole right in front of you on a big cart they roll to your table. They pick out perfectly ripe guacamoles as the base and then you can customize the rest of the ingredients that you want in your guacamole. It's made and served in a molcajete (hence the name of the restaurant) and it was delicious! The tacos were also super flavorful and i was especially impressed with the tongue taco! Such tender meat, basically melts in your mouth. The service was great, super friendly and attentive. I'll be coming here again soon! read more

I've got to say, the tacos are definitely worth trying, and while they come unsalted, that's actually a plus for me--I get to season them exactly how I like. The portions are more like street taco style, so you can try a few different flavors without feeling stuffed. Price point is pretty average for tacos. But if your looking to get full you may want to get another entrée. The manager is a kind old gentleman who really makes you feel welcome, which adds to the whole cozy vibe of the place.
