As a former Arizona-girlie, not having a Filibertos around is kind of a buzzkill. But, my husband saw this spot on Instagram and it brought us here. They got carne asada fries here!!! The fries are golden brown and crispy, but airy inside. The steak quality is great and seasoned nicely. The serving side is BIG so be ready to eat. They have a salsa bar on the side, so we got red and green salsa, some cilantro, and lime. We also ordered steak tacos - also very good! Love the true authenticity here!

Tacos. CW from upper right: Trompo(Pastor), Chorizo, Chicken, Asada. All were wonderful.

This place is so amazing. It's like a trip to Mexico right here in the St.Louis area. I love unfiltered cultural experiences, and this one basically DEFINES that term. First of all, it's ENORMOUS! The selection of produce, meats, freshly made tortillas, and pre-packaged Mexican and Central/South-American groceries has to be seen to be believed. Then, you add in a full food bar/taco bar with seating to eat in-store, and absolutely blasting music from every corner of the store(on a Saturday) and you have a sensory overload that rivals any walk down the street in Jalisco, Tijuana, or anywhere else. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Please go there on a Saturday, have a taco or two, and shop the aisles full of things you've probably never seen before.

The taco stand is inside of the grocery store. Yes, come for the food. Also, stop through and buy groceries. The fries in the picture are amazing and I have everyone eating them. The service is cool, the people in the restaurant and the grocery store are nice and helpful. Don't go expecting ambiance though. It's a grocery store. There is also a hot food bar that I have never tried. I drink the hibiscus Agua Fresca and it's delicious. I have tried to get them to tell me what else is in it. No luck. I bought hibiscus and can't get mine to taste the same. Either way, the food is delicious and the store is great for things you saw on vacation that you can pick up locally. The only thing I feel the restaurant needs is a margarita. It would be perfect then.

This is definitely a place you need to try if you looking for Fresh Tacos, horchata, Agua Fresca, fresh pastries, and any of your grocery needs. It is fully stocked with fresh produce, seasonings, fresh seasoned meats, and more. I was recommended to come here by another Yelp Elite Squad member Steven B. During the welcome party back in January. He definitely hit the nail on the head with this one. I ordered carne asada and Carnitas tacos. Omg, the carnitas tacos were phenomenal. I got the mix carnitas (skin and all). The carnitas was tender, and well seasoned. The corn shells were soft. The carne asada was seasoned well, juicy and tender. There is a fresh cold bar with all of the toppings you need for your tacos. The fresh made salsas made the tacos even better. I also ordered a hibiscus agua fresca. It was sweet, but not too sweet, and oh so delicious. They have tables for you to enjoy your meal. I didn't get any pictures of my food, but believe me, they looked just as good as they tasted before i devoured them.

This was one heck of a supermarket! I saw this on social media and really wanted to go! First thing you see is the place is very well visited. All people from different walks of life were here, which was great to see. Upon entering you are greeted with the veggies section and the bulk bins where you can get all the dry things like beans and lentils in bulk! They were a great price and so I was really happy to stock up! Next that was the bakery section where they had tons of bread and pastries to pick! I picked up a few and all were super fresh and delicious! The meat counter was one of the most extensive I've seen in MO and they had a lot of marinated meats and other interesting cuts that aren't usually found in the normal supermarkets. The thing I thought was the coolest about this supermarket was the fresh tortilla making section where you could buy them freshly made! The other part I thought was great was the in-store restaurant where they were serving fresh made food! I got the horchata and a carne asada quesadilla! It was so good! The one main thing is that the restaurant isn't open everyday mostly only the Friday-Sunday.

As a yelp elite member, I always get asked about my favorite restaurants in St. Louis. I was struggling with coming up an answer because I needed to mentally compile all the good restaurants that I like. However, now I can give a quick answer to that question as El Morelia Super Mercado is that restaurant. This is a grocery store but their food court restaurant is so amazing. It has the best Birria tacos that I have ever had. I haven't tried too many Mexican restaurants in St Louis so don't take my word for it. However, the tacos here definitely taste just as good if not better than the ones I had in Texas or in Mexico. The only downside of this place is that they close too early around 7pm so timing is limited. However if you show up on the weekends, they have special items that are not offered on weekdays. In addition to the food court, I also like to shop at this grocery store. They have a wide variety of produce and household products which is very convenient. I can get my shopping done for the week while getting a good meal out of it. I highly recommend you guys checking this place out.

This Mexican grocery store/restaurant is one of my favorite places in North County, I often stop here to do some grocery shopping but more than that will stop for lunch. they have an excellent selection of tacos and burritos and they also have weekly specials that are a great deal that include food and a drink for $10, each day is a different entrée. The service is quick and they have a nice area with tables for you to sit and eat or you can get it to go.

Seating at Rico's Tacos

My friend and I recently visited El Morelia Super Mercado and Rico's Tacos within there. He had not been in a while and I had not been ever so I was really pumped to see what it was about. I was told it would be loud with lively music throughout various aisles of the store, there would be a bakery, butcher and even a place where they make tortillas! We decided to eat first and shop last. While the line to Rico's was long, service was very efficient. The flavors of each agua fresca (fresh water) is designated by the sample fruit/ingredient laid in front of them. The server allowed us to sample as well. I sampled hibiscus and strawberry. While both were great, strawberry was AMAZING. I did not want to finish my drink and be sad so I definitely took my time consuming my drink. I ordered the quesabirria tacos which tasted so perfect. I am not sure what's traditional or not. I typically see onions and cilantro in the consume but did not see any in theirs which was fine because their salsa bar had pico de gallo so I just added some in there. My friend and I shared elote made with white corn. While the corn type was fine, the flavor profile was a bit salt and too spicy for my liking. He demolished the rest for the both of us. After being stuffed with food, we walked back to the front of the store, grabbed a rolling hand basket and basically went up and down each aisle. From avocados the size of grapefruits from the Dominican Republic to birria bombs and Mexican Coke, this place has literally EVERYTHING you need to make an authentic meal. I felt completely overwhelmed in a good way meaning the next time I visit, I will have a plan for meals so I can easily shop. The aisles are labeled overhead. They have a whole liquor aisle and even a pharmacy inside! I think I only made out with Mexican Coke, some cake from the panaderia and some other small items. I cannot wait to revisit!

This is one of my favorite spots to grab tacos! The service is always good and fast. Especially love that while the food cooks I can shop through the store. The tacos are always amazing, the loaded carne asada fries and the California burrito. Make sure to grab the red and green sauce to go on top of the food. They also have a toppings bar which is usually well stacked as well for the food.

Perfect one stop shop for all your culinary needs. This place is a gold mine! They have food, drinks, local and international groceries. The store I believe is Hispanic owned, I'd assume, and has lots of cultural finds to offer. They have a huge parking lot and are handicapped accessible. I think they were originally across the street but moved for a bigger location. I ordered tacos and drinks. The clerks were nice and welcoming. Food was ready in about 5-10 minutes. Birria tacos had a heavy tomato base, now what I'm used to but wasn't bad. I really liked the shells. the chicken taco was flavored just needed vegetables (which I assumed came on chicken taco, so clarify that for yourself). I will definitely be back to explore and see what lovely things I may find! Recommended!

My friend and I spent about 3 hours in here the first time we went. There are so many exciting foods, and the ideas were flowing! There is also a taco joint inside with amazing food, including street tacos, carne asada fries, enchiladas, aguas frescas, and more. We shopped, ate, and then shopped some more. I highly recommend if you're looking for special ingredients or just a day adventuring around the city.

Loved, loved, love El Morelia. We spend time browsing each aisle and picking up some of our favorite snacks + treats. We came around lunch time and order 6 tacos ( 2 carnitas, 2 asada, 2 chorizo), asada fries and 2 aguas frescas (coco/coconut and pineapple/piña) Food was delicious and the salsa /topping bar was a solid addition! Service was 10/10. The line was long but moved quickly and everything was being made to order. The ambiance was so good! So much to see and experience. We will be back for more food and snacks

Loved the Carne Asada fries! Get them! The birria tacos were just ok for me; too much meat. Definitely going back though. Nice little lunch spot inside a lovely Mexican grocery store.

The burritos here are bomb and for $10 they are the size of a newborn child. It gets busy during lunch but definitely worth the wait.

I got the enchiladas de mole and the shrimp a la diabla, which had some pretty unique flavors and complexity. Fair warning the shrimp a la diabla was the spiciest thing I have ever had. It was really good but definitely not the faint of heart. It was sooooo spicy that I was sweating. The enchiladas was very good as well. The mole sauce had an interesting bitterness to it. I liked it very much. I highly recommend you ordering that one. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and I would come back to try more of their food.

On this 85° day , the A/C wasn't working. They put a small bowl of chips on our table. (Supposedly homemade) They were greasy with very little flavor. My husband got a bottled beer. I asked for iced water. It came in a styrofoam cup, no lid, no straw, no ice. I asked for ice. They brought some in a small plastic bowl. I had no silverware to help the ice into the glass. Our food came separately. My husband's steak fajita was extremely tough with few veggies. Five minutes later, my cheese quesadilla arrived. It was small and on the plate was one plastic fork. A roll of paper towels was on the table. We wanted to love this place, but sadly we won't be back.
