FIVE STARS! This is the most authentic and fun Mexican restaurant I've been too in awhile. Super value and a great menu of the real flavors of Mexican foods; they even have the Coco Cola in the large bottles that I haven't seen since the 69's in Denver. Delicious tacos and you can choose each type for a great sampling and delicious meal. The sides of Verde sauce were tangy and perfect. Homemade I'm sure, if not, they were pretty darn good. Wow, just wow!!! What a solid little gem this place turned out to be!! Located off the beaten path, in the corner of a strip mall, right off Manchester. Started as a Mexican grocer next door that sever over the counter food...expanded into a simple restaurant next door (and attached). Absolutely phenomenal service, cared what we thought of the food (they asked everyone their opinion at the table) and attentive. Very simple and industrial, farmhouse feel...looks to be a great place for drinks and apps during happy hour too! Avid Mexican cuisine consumer, and this is, easily, my new favorite overall spot. Some people don't love tacos like a meal, only eat them for lunch, not us. Tacos, margs, we are likely eating once a week. This was my second time at this restaurant. I love the authentic culture, ambiance and service. I love the tacos, tried the tacos twice now and 5/5 10/10 tacos each time. Good lord we love the margarita, I will be telling everyone it's the best one in the area. Not everyone has the same opinion of margarita either, but for us, what an authentic margarita should be, this is it. Liked the tajin straw, that was fun. I always leave a constructive criticism, please don't take negativity, just as possible improvement. Add a spicy margarita to the menu, the best ones soak the tequila in a pepper for like 24hrs and serve that in it. I had an early meal here this afternoon. It was very enjoyable-well crafted and authentic food. After finishing, I discovered I left my wallet at home. I was told that was not a problem. I said I would return within 30 minutes to pay and I did. They simply took me at my word. Their reaction when I returned was appreciation and surprise. I'm not certain they expected it. Had heard about La Tiendita from friends. Decided to try take out. One half the place is a grocery store and the other a surprisingly large cantina. We had tacos (pork salsa verde, barbacoa) and barbacoa flautas. Don't sleep on the lengua (beef tongue) servings. Very tender, slightly smokey with a brief hint of minerally flavor that brings the meat alive. We also enjoyed the tres leches cake for desert. We will come back to sit in the delightful cantina, where tortas are also available as well as baked potatoes with options to add beef, pork, chicken or lengua. Close to Clarkson on Manchester. My husband and I visited this little gem after hearing so many people rave about it and boy, we were not disappointed! The service was fast, very friendly and really helpful. The soup they serve instead of chips was amazing--very tasty, with veggies and beans. I tried two tacos--brisket and steak and they were both good but the brisket was outstanding--tender, perfectly seasoned & on the best taco shell that I have ever tasted! I will be returning very soon and I plan to try the "much raved about" beef tongue taco this time. This is a really cute, nicely decorated little cantina and I feel very lucky to live so close to it. We are so thrilled that La Tiendita has finally been able to expand and have the sit down restaurant area. If you don't know, they have fantastic tortillas and make them in house regularly. They also supply them to other restaurants in the city. Already a bonus! We came in today for lunch and had great service - we sat immediately and started looking over the menu. We ordered a variety of tacos and one Gordita. I enjoyed the Barbacoa and Salsa Verde tacos along with a Chicharron Prensado Gordita. Everything was fantastic - it was a toss up between the Salsa Verde and Chicharron Prensado Gordita on which I liked more - it was hard to choose! My husband also order 4 different tacos and really loved the Salsa Verde taco. The restaurant & market is family owned and everyone is so incredibly nice. The build out for the restaurant area is beautiful and the bar is a nice compliment to the room. The whole area gives off comforting and welcoming vibes. Went in there for tamales. Ordered a whole heap to take home for dinner. They were outstanding. Don't go in there expecting different flavors. Pork is all they have. I've driven by many time and finally stopped in. La Tiendita is a wonderful little market and restaurant with great food, super friendly service, and excellent margaritas. We had 2 lime margaritas. They tasted really good and they come with edible straws that are slightly spicy and delicious. Instead of the typical salsa and chips, we we served a delicious soup as a complementary starter. I got two Salsa Verde tacos and a carne asada taco. In both varieties, the meat was cooked perfectly and they came on homemade corn tortillas with cilantro and onions. Wow, what a nice suprise to find out that the Mexican market has a nice sized taqueria hi dong in plain site. Wasn't too busy and we were able to get a table immediately. No typical tortilla chip service, nor did we ask about it. Ambience is nice and service was good. The charro pinto beans were excellent. We had 3 different types of street tacos. All good but pork were best. The best thing we tried was the red pork arapas, with cheese. We will be back for more of these, soon! We used to come to La Tiendita when they only had a small counter where you sat & they made your food in front of you & the tortilla machine cranked out fresh tortillas. Several months ago I drove by and glanced over and saw the word "cantina" and was like what?!!! So finally my husband I planned a date night this past weekend. The cantina has been open for 7 months now! The owner remembered us and came over to greet us. My spicy mango margarita was tasty. Husband settled for a few Modelo Negros. Our food was absolutely delicious. My barbacoa taco was heaven! Juicy & flavorful on a fresh tortilla. I also got the Salsa Verde (pork with green sauce) tostado which was also wonderful. My husband got the platter which came with refried beans & rice and then you get to choose 2 entrees. He was very pleased with his meal, as well. We went somewhat early on a Saturday night & there was only one other table of guests. But, by the time we left the place was hopping with people. You walk in and immediately see the small little tables, bar across the back, and tienda off to the side. I knew it from the start it was authentic and the food would be superb. It did not disappoint. Carne Asada was on point, food was freshly made, the tortillas are made from scratch, and tamales.....were heaven! The son of a dear friend is the owner of this authentic Mexican grocery and countertop restaurant. It is a family business and the welcoming feeling entering the store is truly great. The flour tortillas are made fresh there in a large machine visible from the counter. The menu has many different meats and sauces that can be served either in a taco, flautas or gorditas. I tried carne asada and pork verde tacos which were outstanding! I did the same two items served in gorditas. Everything is so reasonably priced making it a great casual lunch spot. They have large bowls of different types of soups that I will be trying when the weather is cooler. The grocery has many unique Mexican meats and dry goods items and I just had to purchase one of their habanero sauces which was outstanding. As many of the clientele there were Spanish speaking, I will go back not only for the great street style tacos but to brush up on my Spanish. It is such a beautiful sounding language that I studied in school but haven't had much opportunity to use. As I write this, I am thinking I need to go back for lunch tomorrow! read more

We're fortunate enough to have been enjoying this business from when it first opened as a grocery store in 2016, then when they added their taqueria counter through to their most recent expansion. It's a family run business that is always friendly and welcoming. We had the Pork Verde and Carne Asada tacos this time and both were authentically delicious. They diced the steak into such small pieces that it was almost like ground beef. The pork and lengua tasted fine but both had a paste like texture, while I prefer meat to be like meat. The menudo was ok but once again they chopped everything up too fine. I was a bit taken by surprise when I looked at the menu; compared with prices on the menu photo someone else posted just 2 years ago, everything had gone up by 25-50%. This is our second visit. We ordered 4 steak tacos with cheese and a bottle of Coke to go. It was over $25. Steak is cut up in very small pieces and is extremely dry. Zero flavor on the steak. Both visits, we asked for 1 extra red salsa, and both times, they gave us 1 red and 1 green salsa. We don't use the green, so we had 1 small cup of salsa for 4 dry tacos. This isn't Popeyes. Give the extra sauce! The tortillas for the tacos will make us give them another chance, but we will tear open the tied to-go bag and check for salsa next time. read more
