Seamus in PJs while he recovers from his surgery

We were first-time patients and had our dog neutered, microchipped, and tummy surgically fixed to prevent bloat (gastropexy). They took such great care of Seamus. They were the kindest and nicest people when I called to make the appointment. They took our baby in for the whole day, and gave us clear post-surgery instructions, and he is back to his normal, playful self in just a couple of days! We've been in search for a good vet clinic and so happy and lucky to finally have found one near our home.

If you care about your pets or your money, this is not the place for you. Take the other reviews seriously. My dog had dental extractions in May. After a few weeks, my daughter and I noticed that her gums were significantly receding. I was seeing a small hole appear that lead to her sinus cavity. When I called the office about scheduling a follow-up, they informed me I could be seen in 6 weeks!! I told them I believed she was having a complication due to a surgery performed at their offices and I'd like to be seen sooner. Nope. Not only was the front office unsympathetic, but they were also flat our rude. So, I decided to take my dog down there in person, in hopes the doctor or nurse could take a look. The front office staff was immediately combative and defensive. The front office told me my dog's issue "was unlikely related to the surgery". I was so caught off-guard by the lack of care or professionalism. My dog is currently undergoing corrective surgery for what's called an oronasal fistula. This is where the sinus cavity is exposed due to gums receding after surgery. This is costing me another $600, on top of the other $600 I gave El Norte Vet clinic. It's really unfortunate that people like this are able to take your time, money, and trust. Especially when they have your beloved pet in their care. ZERO STARS. Below is an image from the internet that gives an example of the condition my dog is suffering from as a result of the surgery performed at this office.

I still bring my fur baby here for his care whenever he needs his updated vaccines or a check up. Kayo is not very nice to many strangers, but his staff & Dr. Choi really know how to make him feel comfortable! From cutting his nails to getting his vaccines, he does not seem to flinch or cower compared to other places. I love how friendly the staff are and how great they are around dogs, you can really tell they care for your pets. Recently, Kayo (miniature dachshund) had an incident where he injured his spine and he was suffering from hind leg paralysis. We waited a full night before deciding to bring him but we were really close to bringing him into a rehabilitation center in Escondido. I'm really glad we didn't & decided to get a check-up first at Nordahl Pet Veterinary Animal Hospital after I gave a phone call to make an appointment with Dr. Choi. The staff was seriously so accommodating and knew that this was an emergency, so she squeezed me in as a walk-in appt even though they were fully booked that day. She told me the time I should come and how long we could possibly be waiting. Luckily for us, we were taken back right away and Dr. Choi came in quickly. After the check-up, he made the best possible treatment plan for him without needing to do surgery. He was prescribed two medications - one for pain & one for anti-inflammatory. After about 2-3 days, Kayo was already recovering so quickly with lots of rest and care. After about a week, Dr. Choi used the text portal system to text me Kayo's x-ray results and an updated treatment plan. All of this, without having to pay for another visit was really a relief for my husband and I. We were worried he was going to need surgery or water therapy, but all he needed were the medications and 2 more weeks of rest. Presently, Kayo is about 95% better and is finally walking again! Thank you so much to Dr. Choi & his staff for taking great care of our fur baby. Highly recommend to anyone who really wants to visit a vet with really affordable prices and who actually cares about your pets!

I wasn't looking forward to this visit because the last time we were here, we got bad news about our pup that passed away in 2017 :( The facility has expanded quite a bit since our visit here 8 years ago. It seems to be a very efficient operation. They have comfy seating and a coffee, drink, snack counter. After an EKG was done, our pet cardiologist explained in great detail what she saw going on with our Riley dog. Turns out he's ok. The vet says it's part of his aging process and we should keep monitoring it with annual check ups--and I suppose annual EKG's that are kinda of pricey, but worth it to make sure Riley dog is ok. Whew! It's comforting to know vet care like this exists.

The first thing I asked was whether we could try a hydrolyzed diet and/or different type of food because I knew it was tied to food. The vet said no and instead recommend a ton of tests and procedures, even one for Addison's which is rare. After her fluoroscopy and over $10,000 later, they said the solution was upright feedings even though she didn't have ME. I felt hopeless and sad we had not figured it out since she kept getting sick. I told the vet and she kept reiterating upright feedings which was not the solution and wholly unnecessary! Finally, I went to VCA and the vet suggested hydrolyzed protein, what I told the other vet. My dog is now finally doing better now thanks to this place. Don't take your dog here.

I took my dog in for a yeast infection in her ear. She had this a year ago and the vet cleaned it out really well and put some medicine in and sent us on our way. It was quick and efficient and super reasonable. Today we came in for the same issue s year later and they told me the vet that day doesn't examine the animals in the room with you. Ok. They took her back. After AN HOUR my son had to go to the bathroom. We were lead down a dark dingy hallway to a bathroom and we saw our dog in the back. When we were walking back my son tried to pet a dog that appeared to be owned by an employee (sitting in front of a desk) and the dog tried to bite him and aggressively started barking. After an hour and half I said we needed to leave. The doctor tried to get me to agree to 4 different oral meds in addition to drops. It felt like she was trying to scare or shame me into doing all of this treatment and her explanations for what was going on and what could have caused it were insulting to anyone with intelligence. Since the ownership has changed I was looking forward to a new vet. The last two times I have gone (in the last 3 months) the tone has changed drastically and both times I came in for something pretty minor but felt very pressured to agree to thousands of dollars of tests and treatments that were not necessary. Some people do like to get all the things possible but those people take their dogs to nice vet offices where they expect to pay a lot- not dingy old offices that haven't been updated in 30 years- maybe they're trying to raise funds for a remodel now! I will mention we tend to be on the conservative side for treatment options (with our dogs and humans!) We would like to start less aggressive and then increase as needed. We will now have to find a vet that fits in with that philosophy

I genuinely dont think in 5-6 years i ever saw the same vet twice, if i did it was very rare. Some people note the front desk person is rude, i think she is just fine, shes always been nice to me. The last visit was likely the last time i will visit here unless there is an extreme need. While doing a nail trim, my dog who is like 28 lbs was medicated based on their instruction, still was fighting them, and his nail broke off. They had the audacity to present me somewhere around a 200+/- dollar bill for a procedure they suggested to repair the situation. As you can imagine, i was not having that. I refused to pay it, and had to argue with the male Vet who tried to tell me something that happened out of my sight, that wasnt present before arriving, an issue that they created was my responsibility. I had to inform him the dog has had to be sedated before, and that should have been discussed with me once they realized he wasnt going to cooperate. I handed him back the paper and advised he needs to come up with another solution cause the procedure will get done but i wont be paying. Eventually they ate the cost after an argument that shouldnt have even been necessary. I didnt mind the outdated environment or the folding chairs because the price point matched it. But with declining care, and being told during this visit they were under new ownership/management if this is that management its nothing i want to be part of. All that said, try them for yourself, make your own decision, i never felt they gave "Bad" care to my pets but the last incident just lets me know its time to move on.

We were brought into a room by an overworked and overstressed employee and sat there for a while waiting for Dr. Young. The exam was fine. No concerns there. A few weeks later, I called the office to ask a question. They called me back the next day. Totally acceptable turn around time, but prior to them expanding, they would've called back the same day.
