Came to stay for a quick trip to the Springs. It was peaceful, tastefully decorated, quiet and clean. Loved French doors opening to courtyard as well as door through the other side of the room. Internet service was not consistent but it was great to unplug!

Someone with disabilities should not be assigned to a room where you can literally trip.

    1. Overpriced: I paid $150 total for a King Bed room. Look for hotels in Fort Stockton (only 40 minutes east) like the La Quinta, Fairfield or Hampton Inn. I have stayed in all of them, and have far more comfortable and enjoyable experience. If you do choose to stay here bring your own pillows and maybe even sheets. It looks like they have never been replaced. Their beds are as hard as the mountains surrounding the area. 2. You won't have cell service here and there are no phones in the rooms! Also, their WiFi didn't work and trying to contact the front desk to clear up the issue after check in is impossible as they leave as soon as 7 pm. I can't imagine what we would have done given an emergency. 3. Service animals: the staff was ignorant to the importance and legal requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act which requires that people with service animals are treated equally and not given lesser rooms. This happened in our case and you can see our damaged room below. The front desk attendant was deceitful in assigning us a room. We had asked previously, upon check-in, if the room had damage from other animals, or was different in any other way to other rooms. To which she had replied "no". We didn't appreciate her dishonesty. 4. Pros: The landscaping was very kitschy. The style of the hotel was refreshing from the regular big chain hotels which is what drew us in. The mountain scenery is beautiful but we're unable to see it from our window even though the hotel was less than half occupied. Cons: No WiFi, land lines, clocks, phones, front office attendance, or pool either in the room or on the property. Also, there's a huge RV park with a lot of aggressive stray cats on the other side of the parking lot which made me feel unsafe especially walking at night. The hotel didn't feel safe or clean. Period. It seemed like nobody had stayed in this room for months and the staff had failed to keep it in an acceptable condition. I recommend saving your money and staying in one of the surrounding areas. It's just not worth it. Take a look at the photos and see what I am talking about.

We accidentally found this place while running from freezing weather on our motorcycle. The place has that old Spanish Lodge feel. The rooms are over the top with beautiful large furniture and a 4 person shower that rains from above. Plus a heater in the shower/toilet room. We stayed in room #2 which was ten bucks more that the standard rooms. Not sure what standard rooms look like. It was $129 for the night for our room. Also, next door is a great Mexican restaurant we walked to. This place was a great find in a small town 2 miles off the hyw 10.

After being cramped up in a car for three days, it was so nice to have a little room to spread out. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, had lots of good storage, and had all the in room amenities we needed. The shower had good water pressure. There was also laundry out in the lobby that didn't require payment and everyone was using it courteously. The pool was indoors in a gazebo with sliding glass doors. The hot tub was broken, which we were pretty bummed about because we had sore backs from all the driving. The kids didn't care that it was broken though. The breakfast in the morning was a really good spread! There were options for every type of breakfast goer. You do have to show your buffet ticket in order to eat and you're not allowed to take food back to your room though, so we had to get everyone out all at once to eat. It was a nice stay overall, definitely recommend the plus over the basic Best Western.

Needing a bite to eat before zipping up the mountain for a star party at the McDonald's…read moreObservatory, my girlfriend and I popped into the Harvard Hotel with our appetites. With a limited menu, we presumed anything ordered would be rather scrumptious. We decided to order the chicken fried steak along with the green chili bacon burger. We shared our dishes per, swapping plates half way through our respective meals. Our consensus was identical and is as follows: The green chili bacon burger was indeed the superior dish. In fact, it was quite delicious! The chicken fried steak was good as well, but the portion was a bit small and the sides were nothing to write home about. Was the burger worth $18? Probably not, but to be fair, I'm not sure that any burger is deserving of such a price. That being said, it was indeed a tasty burger if you don't mind the price. Was the chicken fried steak worth $20? Certainly not. Truly an average dish with small portions, we both feel the decision was regrettable at such a price point. In conclusion, with a juicy burger, an average chicken fried steak, and a limited menu with overpriced entrees, the Harvard Hotel receives a 3 star rating.

They were in fact booked but Sean called his sister property at Hampton for me. And was able to secure a last minute room. He even helped me with directions to get there faster so I wouldn't have to take the side road. Just excellent customer service! He even called to see if his reservations were on their way to see if he might be able to give me one of their rooms. He wasn't doing it because I was a female or anything like that he was just doing a fantastic job and it was so nice to have somebody going above and beyond! Especially when he was going above and beyond because that's how he is doing good business not because he thought I was pretty. I was thoroughly impressed with his level of commitment and I really appreciate it after such a long drive and especially when the phone customer service did not take care of what I was needing. I'm not sure what his role is here but whatever it is he needs a promotion. Thank you again so very much! I was exhausted and I did not want to go to the next town

We were pleasantly surprised, especially given the "curb appeal" of the place!…read more This was our fist time visiting West Texas. We had done some research and realized that we needed to "set out expectations" for what to expect on our trip. That being said "Rustic" is an understatement!!!! Now, on to this particular establishment......... VERY laid back with self check-in/out. We only encountered two staff members during our stay, and they were both very friendly and "colorful" (in a good way). The accommodations, while small, and VERY RUSTIC, were clean, and thoughtfully laid out. It had ample places for our luggage, hanging clothes, toiletries, etc., and a kitchenette with coffee maker, microwave, fridge, and a sink which doubled for the bathroom sink. There was a make up dresser for my wife, with a mirror, but no hair dryer (which their website had stated would be the case, so no surprises there). The "compound" had a nicely appointed community pavilion, though it was a bit chilly at night when we were there, and we were exhausted, so we didn't use it. The bed was comfortable, and the heating/AC unit worked properly and wasn't unusually noisy. We left before the cafe was open, and they had closed by the time we checked in, so we didn't get a chance to try it, but the lingering food odor was wonderful, so we were a bit disappointed that we missed out. The ONLY comment I have is that the price, WHILE LESS THAN SOME OF THE OTHER PLACES WE ENCOUNTERED ON THIS TRIP, seemed a tad on the high end. We are generally a Hilton/Best Western/Holiday Inn Express type of client and we paid about the same for "Rustic" as we would for typical lodging at one of those establishments. That being said, this was the best lodging VALUE we experienced during our stay in West Texas, so not really a complaint. We would/will stay there again if/when we're out that way, again.
