Stayed here as a military family moving from California to North Carolina. We found a bed bug on our bed WHEN WE WOKE UP. Lovely! All of our belongings have to go in trash bags and we have to go buy all new stuff because of this. The AC also didn't work and it's June in Texas. Do I need to say more?? We stayed here for one night for a road trip. The place was clean but what nicked me was the soaps. They were placed like they were brand new nice and neat on the sink. But when I picked one up, it was half empty and the wrapped looked like it had been used. Upon inspection, the lotion had someone's hair in it. The shampoo was half gone, and the conditioner had been used as well. So gross and I'm afraid the rest of the room hadn't been properly cleaned after this. Disgusting read more

This is one of the nicer La Quinta's!! I've been traveling cross country and it is so nice to finally walk into a newer design hotel, no cigarette smell in a non smoking room and have a comfortable bed! The young man at the front desk (originally from San Diego) super nice and very helpful!! He made the start of my stay here begin with a personable and friendly welcome. So nice that the sample sized shampoo is Pantene ...so glad since I didn't want to trek out to the car to get mine. There are frozen food options at the little market place by the front desk that are microwaveable. There is a microwave in my room but it was also pointed out to me that there is a microwave in the spacious breakfast dining area. You'll find chips, candy, soda and water there as well. Plenty of parking with ample space for those that are pulling trailers or driving large trucks /semis. There is a complimentary breakfast that is what most "free" breakfasts are...but, nice to have something before hitting the road. WiFi works well read more

We stopped here for one night on a three day road trip with our dogs. This hotel is clean and comfortable, and has plenty of grassy areas around it if you're traveling with pets. We arrived on a Sunday evening and got checked in quickly. The town of Pecos is small and not many restaurants are open on a Sunday evening for dinner. So keep that in mind as locating food can be tough, but the hotel is convenient to the interstate and a nice place to stay for the night. read more

This hotel is perfect for the price. Room was nice and very spacious. Very clean. Bed was comfy. It's right off the freeway for convenience. The front desk was friendly. They even offered tacos when we checked in. I did not try them as I'm vegetarian but others where eating them so must have been good. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. If you need a "handicapped room" skip this hotel. Both of the rooms we were given in this hotel had their walls painted flat, mud brown, which didn't reflect light. There were only 2 lamps, both of which were rigged so that they generated very little light. As a result it was next to impossible to see in the room in the evening, if one is visually impaired. The woman who waited on us at the front desk was sullen and clueless in all of our dealings with her. read more

DOG FRIENDLY HOTEL. The beds are comfortable, they allow dogs and are very accommodating. We slept well, didn't stay here long but would stay here again and would suggest this place to others. They were a little pricey but I think it was because we have two dogs. read more

Super unimpressed with their treatment of customers though the maintenance crew and kitchen staff are super nice. Stayed here while moving to California with an infant, toddler, 2 large dogs, and a cat. Arrived and requested two rooms from Jacob, who charged us, showed us to the elevator, only to then remember the elevator is broken so my husband had to carry it all up and down on top of hauling our dog up and down for potty breaks. With a three legged large dog who cannot climb stairs (missing a front leg), two kids, multiple suitcases, a crib and mattress, cat carrier, and litter box, this is actually a make or break for us. Jacob was unable to help us since we had signed the dotted line. So spent $200 only to be told by Malinda, the assistant manager,in the morning the only thing they could do is give us 3,000 reward points (we had earned 14,000 for paying for the rooms) and it takes 25,000 to stay here. So thanks for the lack of respect and revelation that La Quinta won't be our go to after years of coming here. read more

Newer hotel, clean and fairly comfortable. Hot breakfast, pet friendly. Staff was ok. When we pulled up the desk clerk was sitting in the common area eating at watching tv. We had called early in the day to reserve a pet friendly room, when we got there he said he didn't know we had a pet. Ok no big deal we got our room and headed up. The door was a pain in the ass because you have to finagle it just right to get the door open ( a little weird for a brand new hotel) as we got our bags and such every time we went to the lobby the desk clerk was sitting watching tv in the common area. Just seemed a little unprofessional to me. Over all good hotel for the price. read more

This is a new hotel that was a delight to stay at. The room was super clean and smelled fresh. We requested a quiet room and were given a top (4th) floor room on the back side of the hotel - away from the freeway. It overlooked a golf course. I am a light sleeper and I never heard a sound all night. They serve a "continental" breakfast from 6 - 9 am and it's much more than it sounds...bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, premade cheese omelets, waffles and off course all of the cereals, oatmeal, bagels, etc. We didn't use the workout room or pool, but they both looked like nice area. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and would stay there again in a heartbeat. read more

This new hotel was nice place to stay as we past through Texas. We made a last minute decision to go to Carlsbad Caverns. Pecos is only about a one hour drive from the National Park. Staff was very friendly and eager to help, although their local knowledge was minimal. The evening desk clerk knew nothing about Carlsbad Caverns. Gave us a a pamphlet on Texas State Parks! We were able to use the computers in the business center and find all our information Breakfast was excellent. However there is NO WHERE to eat dinner. We went to the cafe just down the road - YUCK!!!! Clerk said the Denny's on the other side of the street is no better. read more

Stayed on our way to Washington. There were no more rooms available besides a suite and since we were traveling with a toddler we took it. The manager was pleasant even gave my dogs some treats. The room was clean and spacious, the hot water took a while to turn on but it finally did. The reason I'm giving three stars is because my wife asked the front desk girl if the Chinese place was any good (which is only place that delivers) and this girl said I don't know I'm not Chinese. Cmon really. Also I tried to go for a run on the treadmill and almost feel off because its so old and run down that the conveyer belt stops when you step on it. If I could get a normal room I would return. Breakfast was free my expectations are low but helps me get on the road. read more

Reservation through AARP, confirmed and paid in advance. Arrived to find the desk clerk in the common area watching TV. Checked in, received key cards, lugged bags up to the second floor. Key cards did not work Back to the lobby, desk clerk gave me two more cards, back upstairs to find the second set of cards did not work either. Back downstairs, while wife was waiting in the hall watching the bags. Desk clerk came upstairs with a "master" key card. Didn't work. Asked about another room, told that the hotel was sold out. Desk clerk went back downstairs to find another "master" key card to try. Came back, tried door, it opened, inside safety latch was set, irate man who had obviously been asleep came to the door, room had been given to him earlier. Followed clerk back downstairs lugging bags as she was going to try to find another room. Discovered that there was another room available after all, next to the one we thought had been assigned to us. Lugged bags back upstairs, finally gained access to a room. Very noisy, construction workers staying in the hotel were coming and going all night, slamming doors, chatting in the hall, etc, Air conditioner did not work well, room hot and stuffy all night. Hotel lobby and hallways dirty. Grounds drab and neglected-looking. Hotel overpriced compared to value received and location. As a frequent customer of this chain for business travel, very disappointed with this property, much below the norm for my experience. read more

So we came back after a long, tiring day and just wanted hot showers. Hot water just wasn't happening. Breakfast is different each day. Spent way too much time looking and waiting for a luggage cart. Told there were three but we never saw more than one and waited half an hour for that. Some bathroom issues...weak shower spray and loose toilet seat. No extra toilet paper in bathroom so brought in our own. Never seen so many dogs with guests..hallway smelled of it badly. This hotel is highly highly underrated please read this review if you like clean new spacious and very courteous hotels. We travel a lot and I usually prefer to book on booking.com. I will always usually call the hotel directly though and ask what the rate is just to compare the online tax booking, which can sometimes be more expensive than the hotel tax rate of the state. We're very fortunate also to be traveling with a previous service member, so we always like to ask if they honor military/veteran discounts. I also am AAA and they usually offer a good discount as well you just have to ask. The reviews on this place were mixed and I think we figured out why. There's a big open grassy area behind this hotel and it was dark outside when we saw it. Ended up being a great place for our dogs to stretch their legs run around a little bit and get some fresh air after being on the road for two days. It's pretty open for off the leash we did stay close with the leashes just in case we were going to be intruding on someone accidentally but I know how it is with dogs and how hard it can be with having them on a leash and getting their full exercise out especially in our case with two Labs. There was enough lighting from the parking lot that made it light enough to see but it wasn't such bright lighting that made it un peaceful to walk around we thoroughly enjoyed the walk in that area with our dogs it was good to wind down and stretch our legs. The room was beautiful it was clean and it was very new, when we checked out the next day we looked on Google maps and saw what looked like the old hotel and the new hotel were in different lot areas and they had totally rebuild a new hotel. The back area that we saw at night with our pups was a nine hole golf course I'm not sure if it's part of the hotel but that would make sense. Upon check-in it was very easy laid-back and professional just what we needed after a long travel. Check out was at noon and we requested a late check out at 1 PM and actually left the room at 1:30 they were very courteous and understanding that we had dogs and checked in very late the night before. Of all the hotels we stayed along the way California Arizona New Mexico this was the best one and we got the most rest. To address the other reviews my hunch is that the hot water issue was when they had just built the hotel yes it takes some time maybe a couple minutes but nothing more than your average household shower tub once it gets hot it is very hot. There were absolutely no signs of bugs or anything that would attract bugs it smelled like new paint but not in a bad way. We stayed in an executive king suite and totally worth the upgrade I think they are all on the corners and it makes it very accessible to the stairs/elevator. The after hours lobby does have quite a few arrange of snacks chips candy and what I like most is they had a good variety of frozen snacks like breakfast sandwiches corn dogs and hot pockets. There is fresh coffee at all times in the lobby and there is a coffee maker in your room the vending machines were only soda and ice so if you had to get snacks it was in the lobby but so worth it. We loved this hotel from the time we pulled into the parking lot to the time we got back on the 20 East. read more

We are quite unhappy with La Quinta. When people working for me messed up in this manner they found themselves looking for other employment. Our complaint is from both groups traveling together. We made reservations for two families traveling together to Ft. Sam Houston, for two rooms which we were given confirmation and held with a credit card. The reservations were made two days in advance and we have been in contact with the business advising of our arrival time to avoid any possible difficulties. We had a tire trouble today and were delayed 1-1/2 hours but still arrived before 9pm. we communicated with the front desk about the delay and once again THEY confirmed our rooms. Upon arrival they didn't know who we were BUT they had our credit card listed, which they EVENTUALLY discovered ONE ROOM reserved. They told us they were COMPLETELY book and only could give us one room with A bed. This was a slap in face since we had been in SOLID communication with La Quinta in Pecos. They did offer us the option of Letting both groups rent the room and would graciously allow us to SLEEP ON THE FLOOR. Because we were offered to sleep on the floor they would give the second group sleeping on the floor a 5% discount on the room rate. This is absolutely ridiculous. Charge us for TWO ROOMS and still tell us to sleep on the floor, RIDICULOUS and STUPID! Because one of our group had children with them we encouraged them to keep the room. They were going to reject the room to look for another place to stay. Our second group decided it was far better to sleep in a REST STOP area than to be HUMILIATED and charged TWO room rates by these inept cretons. TWO HOURS after we were offered this sham we received a call that they had "found" a room for us BUT someone would still have to sleep on the floor. I can't believe this place can treat people like this and stay in business. SHAME ON YOU LA QUINTA You've lost us as customers forever. read more
