This hole in the wall has wonderful and fresh Mexican food. I ordered the Flautas. The Pico de Gallo was hot and freshly chopped. The shredded beef was placed in home made corn tortillas that were lightly fried. These flautas were just like grandma used to make, and a great surprise; far superior to the typical commercially made and deep fried variety. The retired beans were authentic made with real lard and had a buttery taste which complements the heat of the Pico de Gallo perfectly. Like any hole in the wall restaurant, you must over look the condition of the building, accept the less than fancy tables, and focus on the friendly service and spectacular food. read more

They have everything you need and more... so much more! #15 includes a quesadilla, chili relleno, a taco and of course beans and rice! Treat yourself and explore the store! You'll find a phone to phone a friend, or 4, the largest bag of onions in the history of the world, and more! We ordered the tacos de carne asada and a side of chips and queso on 7/25/20; I wish I could say some of it was good but honestly none of it was good. The carne asada tacos were tasteless and the meat was poor quality, the beans tasted sour and weird, the rice was bleh, chips were fried hardcore in some old grease and I'm fairly certain the queso was just one of those economy size cans of yellow nacho cheese sauce from like Sam's or Costco with some pickled jalapeños dumped into it. I mean we're typically not the complaining type, especially after traveling for 12+ hours back from Estes Park, Colorado completely starved for semi-decent sustenance BUT... based on the food we had and the food our friends had - this restaurant has no idea what good mexican or even tex-mex should taste like. read more

My husband and I stopped by El Paisano on our way to Albuquerque. The place was extremely cluttered and gave the appearance of being dirty. Most disturbing were the remains of various meals still lying on the tables--even from breakfast(we were there in the afternoon). To get to the bathroom, you have to go through the kitchen--again, the appearance of uncleanliness--extension cords hanging from a light. I truly do not know what possessed me to eat there after having seen all that. The food tasted okay, but I would not eat here again. It's amazing that this restaurant is not closed down. read more

Food was delicious, restaurant area was messy and disorganized also very tiny booths and chairs. Beer was cold and expensive.

Walked in at about 9 pm with nothing else open in this small town. Its not in a well lit area, rundown (understatement) and some questionable people walking in and out of there. As a woman, I would not go there alone... I felt much better since my husband was with me. I would agree with the one other review that the cheese sauce was not good, but everything else was great! I ordered the Chile Rellenos plate and my husband got chicken stuffed sopapillas. Both dishes were delicious... the food was authetic, the employees were very nice, and the beer was cold! If we ever go through Dalhart again, we would stop by for another meal, but preferably during the day! read more

Salsa is fantastic, but the cheese sauce is horrible. I know it's the middle of the panhandle of Texas but I am sure this is even insulted by it. We tried the carne Asada (hoping that the meat from this XIT yow precedes itself) and the Migas. They delivered on all accounts. Make sure you ask for the red/green salsa's. read more
