We ordered 6 and the waiter was shocked saying we'd never manage it! As we waited, we thought maybe we'd ordered too much but we had 4 hours til the restaurant closed so we were in no rush! As it happens, we managed 6 tapas, basket of bread, pudding, a cheeseboard, bottle of wine and liqueur. Don't know what that says about us! We didn't find the portions huge but they were delicious: The fried Lanzarote goats cheese and black pudding with baked strawberry and pepper cream gets a special mention. Staff were really warm, welcoming and funny. We're really glad we chose the old harbour to stay in as it's a lot quieter and with lots of great eateries serving fresh and artistically presented food.

For your convenience, there is a huge and busy free parking lot a block away. Décor is casual, the ambiance is relaxed, service is attentive and friendly. Both in door and outdoor seating is available. The dedication to local ingredients is brought to your attention in the menu item descriptions, without pretention. Though the restaurant is Cuban in name and decoration, it isn't in its menu. There are big plates and small plates, we decided to order a few things to share in the style of tapas. Of course it is always in tradition to start with papas arrugadas in the archipelago, the wrinkly Canarian potatoes and mojo sauce. Utterly tender and clean tasting, the potatoes were cooked perfectly - but what I learned with first bite is that the chef is a master of sauces. Next up Garlic prawns with chili of the country, bubbling furiously in juices. So much fresh garlic and a spattering of herbs coated the succulent shrimp, each bite enhanced with a cut of the chili. Next was the baked island smoked goat cheese in clay casserole with fig marmalade, a combination of immaculate flavors. The sweet and savory, creamy and fibrous, created an absolutely illustrious item. Last but not least, the grilled octopus. So many restaurants get this meat wrong, but this was prepared without fault, beautifully presented. The tentacles were tender exuding a smoky grilled essence, paired impeccably with the thick sauces made of pepper and sweet potato. Not normally a fan of octopus, but if it all tasted this wonderful it would be a favorite of mine. A sweet liquor was complimentar after our meal. This place was different. It's set in the old capital, teguise. (Parking is down the hill a bit to the left). Out of the white wines, try bermejo from the island. Complex with minerality. Not as much acidity as sancerrre or Sauvignon Blanc. The best tapa was bruschetta with iberico ham and tomatoes - the best bruschetta I had in my life. Soft but slightly toasted bread with big chunks of tomato and iberico ham. Divine!
