This place is really good. The burritos are generous and they have pretty much anything you'd be in the mood for. Except maybe migas, but that's okay. The orders are made quickly without sacrificing quality and they package everything so that it's all secure during transport. There are a few tables outside so you can sit and wait for your order or eat it there if you want to. I was doing a fast, fun and dangerous joyride in my Mustang along the 94. El Paso is Campo'a best eatery...that said there are only TWO eateries in Campo, the other being a gas station Subway. I got the $4 carne asada taco, and a $3.50 pollo asado taco...pretty standard San Diego style Mexican food, except these are huge and filling! Lots of meat, wrapped in 2 corn tortillas. Also this was a rare instance in which the chicken was than the beef. All staff were fully masked, no noses sticking out..,yay! El Paso is not for a snack. They offer huge servings that grew as the "supply chain" inflation nonsense forced them to raise their own prices. The salsas are wonderful, and I recommend the shrimp ranchera as well as their pollo asado and fish tacos (my favorites). I have yet to have anything I did not like here, but if you do NOT like cheddar cheese in your Mexican food, know that you should ask and tell them to not add it in your particular order. Locals include a lot of newer folks who like every Mexican dish to become a quesadilla. Asking them to hold the cheese seemed to win me points with the lady at the window as well, and I always seem to get more guacamole and meat in my dishes when I do that. This mom-and-pop country taco shop allows people to call in and preorder, and they do that often. Don't be surprised to order at the window and wait a bit longer than a few minutes as they fill locals' huge called-in orders. They generally are a 2-person operation. But they are NOT slow, just busy between 4pm and 7pm. They have a tip jar, and they appreciate (but do not expect) every little coin drop, so if you come here a few times, expect little bonuses for being a good customer. read more

If you haven't been to El Paso Taco Shop, don't start now. They ripped me off and when I went back to ensure I'm charged correctly, they undercut how much I was owed and then called me stupid. Some quick back story and the accompanying math that goes along with it. I ordered 5 orders of carne asada fries and one bean, cheese, and rice burrito. According to the menu board, the carne asada fries are $10 each, bean and cheese burrito is $4.50, and adding the rice to the burrito cost $2. They charged me for a carne asada burrito, which is $8. That's a $3.50 difference in price. It should have been a straight forward difference of $3.77 owed back to me when factoring in the tax. No, they insisted that they only owe me $2. When I argued for at least $1 more, the cashier told me "don't ever come back here again while I'm working". Done and done. I won't ever go back there again and I hope to save you all from the same distressing experience and advise you all not to go there as well. Very very poor customer service and all I wanted to do was to be charged what I was supposed to and not be ripped off the way I was. That was so patently unacceptable. There aren't many dining options around here so pick your poison wisely. El Paso's burritos could double as footballs. They are ridiculously big. The chicken burrito was fine but on the bland side. Going against my better instincts, I tried the Surf n Turf burrito. The shrimp--surely not fresh--actually tasted pretty good; the carne asada inside was fair. The grilled onions inside were a welcome addition. Both red and green salsas offer a nice kick and good flavor and the pico de gallo may have been freshly made. Been here a few times. Food quality varies. Last time it was ok, but portions getting smaller. Got sick once but I ate something too hot so that could have been it. Most of the time customer service is pretty good. Their hot sauce is good. On the way to the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in Campo, you'll find the El Paso Taco Shop at the T intersection in extreme rural San Diego County; Campo, California. Other than the "fake" food at Circle K and Subway across the street, you'll find some real Mexican items here made by "real" Mexicans, always a good thing! I ordered the breakfast burrito, the size of a cinder block for only $4.75. A cardiologist's nightmare of eggs, cheese, bacon or ham, FRENCH FRIES and salsa on the side. The salsa tasted homemade. I did order it with bacon but it came with ham, or what seemed like ham. I only could eat half of it and had the rest for breakfast the next day. There is only outdoor seating which appeared very clean, but there were well behaved flies all over the place. Campo has a real gem here! First let me say that the people working here are exceptionally kind! Free Ice water in Campo is a true gift. We had the following tacos: (2) fish, chicken, carne asada. The Carne Asada taco came with quacamole. We got a huge quesadilla for our girls which was enough for three meals. We had chips with a smidge of cheese and quacamole. Also a side of guacamole. Total $20 bucks! Friend had a huge burrito and loved it! Super affordable! We had a wonderful meal while camping at Lake Morena and enjoying the Pacific Southwest Museum Train ride. They offer a full variety of just about anything you'd crave at a mexican stop. Dining tables are outside. It's a small spot, and looks like all the locals come and get food to go. Love this place! We've been here countless times. We live in the area and there aren't many options on places to eat out here. There's a wide variety of tacos, burritos and other Mexican fare. We've tried a little of everything and it's all good. We did have a cousin find a small bone in a fish taco once, but with fresh fish, we figured it's bound to happen once in a while.
