We got a lot of everything.

Now normally, I am not a "pan guy" but whenever youre Dad and Brother both say that "..this is the best bakery in Texas" you need to stop, which we did. It was a little overwhelming but luckily the entire staff speaks both Spanish as well as English, thank you. We just went to town and seemed to order everything, within reason. We got the sprinkle cookie, we got that yellow concha thing, we got wedding cookies, we got almost every type of empanada they had and of course we also got the infamous chancla. The chancla or huaraches is a thin maybe a foot long piece of dough with sugar on it. All of everything there is bread and sugar but just seems that it's a "if you know you know" item By the way the GF was ordering I was fully expecting to spend a good 20-25 dollars but that's the thing it only came out to $10ish. Go grab some bread and pick up whatever you think will be good because it honestly will be and it won't break the bank. Like I said at the start, normally I'm not a "pan" guy but after one bit of these decisions, gluten treats I can confirm "best bakery in Texas"

Great selection of sweet bread. Very good service. Their Barbacoa is very good, tortillas are also very good.

Every time I visit my grandma, sweet bread from El Pastel is always involved.

With a 4.4 rating I would think our visit would be great. However there were just too many things…read morethat screamed not good. I admit I had heard they're breakfast and lunch are great. We thought we would visit for dinner at about 6 pm . Place was totally empty when we arrived; a very wait person say us and very nicely waited on us throughout. I had the two bratwurst with red cabbage and German potatoe salad . Now usually to me , bratwurst should be full juicy sausages of a considerable size . What I got was a little better than two hot dogs that were cut in two length wise. The potato salad was somewhat greasy and not too remarkable at all. The red cabbage was only passable. The whole thing seemed like it was warmed up from lunch , in that it came out surprisingly quickly and was tepid rather than hot. Microwaved maybe even. My partner had pork schnitzel, spaetzal and sauerkraut. The snitzel seemed ok though tepid . The serving size though was somewhat smaller than what their online pic showed but my wife said that she didn't need anything bigger . My wife said the spaetzal was good though I tasted it and thought it seemed warmed up. The oddest thing is that the sauerkraut was mixed up with mashed potatoes. The texture was weird and it was missing the tanginess of sauerkraut and , again, tasted warmed up. Is this a way to "stretch" sauerkraut of all things? The problem is they just started dinner service I guess in the last two weeks according to our server . On top of all this it was exorbitantly priced . Whereas I might visit during breakfast, I may not fit dinner for a while to where they can build a better experience. The waitress was very nice and accommodating.

If you've ever been to Germany then you know what real German food tastes like, if you haven't then…read morethe food here may seem great. It's not! It's just okay The service was great, could not have been greater. The prices are a little bit higher than I would have thought. $5.50 for an extra side is a bit much in my opinion.
