I've been wanting to go here for a while and finally made it in and was not disappointed. I got the half chicken lunch plate for $13 and it came with a half chicken, pinto beans, rice, tortillas and a canned soda. They have a salsa bar outside to grab salsa, pico, onions, cilantro. The chicken was amazing 10/10. The marinade and smoke makes its way so deep into the meat and their salsas are top notch too. I like a full bodied árbol red salsa and this one was exactly what I look for. They also have a creamy green sauce to cool off your mouth after the red. I sat outside at the small tables and they had Selena playing over the speakers which competed the atmosphere. I pulled in and the OWNER immediately greeted me, offered me a Sunday deal if I come back and we shook hands. Very humble and spiritually rich guy!!! I've been in Wichita for a year now and this is the ONLY place you can see any and all walks of culture pull up with the same goals and intent, and that's to eat some GOOD food!!!! Just go!!!!! We've been on the road the whole week, traveling from Los Angeles, CA to Wichita, KS. We celebrated Thanksgiving away from home but we're so lucky to have found El Pollo Dorado on my search for local eats. Thanks to @yelp We were welcomed with friendly faces and with free Thanksgiving hot chocolate with ingredients imported from Mexico and free generous taste of their delicious and Smokey turkey. Thanks David! For a reasonable price, we have a whole tasty turkey, chicken, and more for the whole family to enjoy during our Thanksgiving dinner at the hotel. The only think I wish they gave more was the tortillas. We got a whole turkey, a whole chicken, and a container full of Al pastor, and we only got like 6-7 pieces of tortillas. We're heading back to LA tomorrow but definitely bringing home some of the charcoal grilled turkey goodness because of the generous and ample serving! Also, shoutout to this business who according to David, generously provided warm meals to hungry individuals and homeless members of the community for free on Thanksgiving day. This place has a dude grilling out in the parking with a ginormous grill and usually a lady at the register taking your order. Appearance isn't anything special but I am not hard to please. As long as I get my food then I'm good. I always order the "Lunch" when I go there. Lunch consists of half a chicken, 4 tortillas, Mexican rice, and beans. I honestly love the food here, but the chicken isn't consistent (sometimes it is perfectly grilled and sometimes it is burnt which makes it dry). On a good day, it is my to go to place if I am craving some grilled chicken Mexican style. I recommend this place. read more

This outside food stand serves amazing tacos. I ordered two steak tacos and two beef tacos. The meat was so delicious. I like the steak tacos more than the beef tacos but both were amazing. Everything appeared to be home made and fresh. The tacos are made in front of you. Tacos are $2 each and you will be asked if you want complimentary onions and a jalapeño with your taco. I paid by cash and I'm pretty sure that's all they accept. There is a steel drawer at the exit that has complimentary limes, cilantro, sauces you can put on your tacos. I ate the tacos in my car. I didn't see a place to sit down. Other people ate outside of their cars. I will definitely return in the future when I'm in the area. read more

Can't beat $1 tacos! Well actually $1.25 ea but still. Fast and friendly service. You can see all the meat being smoked first hand in front of you so you know it's going to be good. There's a little pavilion to sit and eat your food. I chose to eat in my car as it was pretty cold out.
