CASH ONLY!! They have legit, great authentic tacos here. The food was different but in a good way and served on paper plates. They also sell beer and everything has to be ordered from the front. They don't come to your table, other than to bring you food. Don't expect any type of ambiance or anything fancy. Came in because I was looking for some late night food. Had never been here before but I'm really glad I did. Got a couple of steak burritos and Jarritas sodas. From the very first bite the steak was juicy and tasty. Whatever they seasoned it with was amazing. The rest of the burrito had beans and rice, lettuce, onion and tomato and mild green salsa. I literally enjoyed every bite and was disapointed it was gone. I will definitely be back for more. Absolutely lived the food and the service. I had asked if the steak meat was real fatty. They showed me some and offered to let me try some. I declined after seeing it but only because it looked really good and I just knew it wpuld be okay. They only accept cash but with how good there food is really who cares. In the attached photos I unrolled the burrito. They xome tightly rolled so this does not reflect how you get it. Seriously guys, ONE of the best AUTHENTIC TACO places I've been to! It's one of those hole in the wall places with awesome food and great service! I ordered their al pastor and carne asada tacos! Oh my goodnessssss, meat was charred perfectly! Topped with fresh greens, give it a squeeze of lime, and squirt some salsa on there and you're in taco heaven! Spent $20 for the only edible thing to be the bottled drink. I also tried their melon drink and it tasted old and sour. This was my first time trying this restaurant the pics looked great online but I do not recommend it was a waste of my time and money. The meat was very over cooked. I only got a trio of carne asada tacos because I was passing through and decided to grab lunch. Two qualms: the outdoor ambiance of the restaurant is a little uninviting and unfortunately doesn't reflect the ethnic decor inside. For all the cute name and colorful building suggests a kitschy taco nirvana, Mr. Taco provides only a pretty good taco experience, which is to say it's still a heck of a lot better than your Carlos O'Kelly's of the world. They have other things, but obviously you're going to want the taco with whatever variety of meat tickles your fancy. The small confines of the building means a bit of the magic goes away when you watch Mr. Taco take out refrigerated bags of the good stuff out of the fridge, stick it in the microwave to heat it up, and finish it on the grill. It still worked out pretty well for everything except the carnitas, which as I recall was a little dry. My main beef with Mr. Taco, though, is the way he dresses them, adding shredded cojita cheese and a too-healthy dollop of sour cream. When he asked me if I wanted it with everything, I didn't know he meant like this, and I ended up scraping most of the sour cream off. Of course, you can always just tell Mr. Taco to leave it off, which is my recommendation. At least the salsas weren't compromising - heavy and full of flavor from the whole dried chiles used to create it, though I probably should have gotten something to drink, as it was a hot day. Also, I had just gotten done with a particularly dehydrating run. Let's just say it wasn't a nice afternoon. But the tacos weren't bad! You can certainly find slightly better fare a little further south, but in the largely forgotten area of 25th and Arkansas, there's one man willing to stick it out for those who remain hungry and need a quick taco fix. read more

Stopped by and tried this for the first time. My expectations were highly exceeded. It was all delicious. My favorite was the tostadas. They felt like they weighed half a pound each and they came three for $7! The tacos were great too. And the meals came with a drink so you definitely get your money's worth. We tried the carnitas, asada, and pollo. They all had great flavor and were not fatty/tough like some places serve. Dining room was open and not packed in super tight and the staff was all super friendly and attentive as well. Can't wait to go back. For sure in my top 5 Mexican places in Wichita. Well prepared but not my thing only because of the texture. Al pastor was well spiced/seasoned and the asada they cook over charcoal outside. We got there just before 6 pm. One table was occupied, not a good sign. Had to order before we sat down, didn't like that. Horrible selection of food. Then realized they ONLY TOOK CASH! We don't carry cash, so since they don't take debit cards, we turned around and left, won't be going back. Also, they don't have chips n salsa. Half star. read more
