The Manteca establishment is the absolute worst! Long story short I placed an order using the app and the restaurant didn't have my order when I went to pick it up. The manager and staff suggested I wait in the parking lot for the order to come through. I was on a lunch break so that wasn't an option. I had to leave with no food even though my card was already charged. One month and 4 phone calls later I finally got a refund for the food I never received. The customer service department at the corporate office is also a joke. Times must be tough when they can't afford to satisfy a customer with their $6 meal because the order "didn't come through". I would give this place no stars if I could but after the experience I had I really feel like other people should know. We went to the drive-through around 10 PM on the Sunday before Memorial Day so yes it was before a holiday but the drive-through was still open. We waited 20 minutes while the car in front of us waited for their orders. Nobody said I'm sorry. When we got to the window and got our order my stomach fell. The chicken in their salad tasted worse than rubber, the chicken tacos tasted like dirt. We were tired and hungry and hd paid for waiting in line for 20 min and bad food. Half the people were cleaning and the girl serving is was just so bored and sad. I should've known. I'm so disappointed, their marketing looks so good, well took good to be true I guess... Where to begin. This location is TERRIBLE!!!!!!! Everytime I go thru drive thru they mess the order up. Then tonight I go and they have no tortilla for the crunchy chicken taco, no shredded beef, can't get coleslaw and even tho I ordered a chicken burrito and she repeats it back to me with the order I get home and no burrito and it's not on the receipt. Them missing something I've ordered has happened on more than one occasion. Then call their 877 number that claims 7 days a week til 9pm and no answer Someone needs to look into this matter. it's been awhile since I've been here. Thought id give it another try. they had no small lids for soda cups or bottoms for salsa. when i mentioned it to them the shrugged it off like it was nothing. my bowl that came with avocado had one piece... not sure if they forgot to cut it? i ordered to go which included two salads. when i got home there were no dressing. they weren't really working hard and screwing around. customer service sucks... to bad I'm in love with the flavor of marinate for chicken. and on yup of threat one of their salsas were bad (u know.. that moldy taste). flour tortillas weren't their normal ones and sucked. instead of a few small ones.. it was one big one. wish they had inform me beforehand.... would have stuck with the corn. best part of it is the place looked clean and i seen someone in the back deep cleaning the walls and the men employees (in the back) were nice and properly thanked is for coming. read more

Living in Tracy, this is the closest El-Pollo Loco, too bad. The chicken lacked the classic El Pollo Loco marinated flamed grilled flavor that they are famous for. The chicken was bland, tasteless and very dry. It felt like it was cooked a while ago and put on a warmer for a long time until it dryed out completely. Eventhough it was a Saturday evening, the place was empty, go figure. Looks like I will be driving to Stockton the next time I get a craving for El Pollo Loco. read more

I think this El Pollo Loco is phenomenal! I don't know why they have such a low star rating. Maybe management has changed or something, but I have gone here multiple times in the last year and have had some of the best fast food. The service here is definitely better than most fast food establishments. I have been here twice, once inside and once in the drive thru and both times I was in a rush. Both visits had pleasant, efficient and competent staff, thus I commend the manager. The food was very good, fast, and the restaurant was clean. If it wasn't so far from my office, I would be there more often. BTW the chicken tostada salad is really good. It wasn't a gourmet meal but it definitely hit the spot. read more

Will not be going to El Polo Loco in Manteca again. Maria who states she is a Manager is rude and down right snotty! I called in because my food order was dry, the rice was terrible and there was very little chicken, what was there was dry and over cooked. Maria stated that since no once else complained tonight that it must just be me. I'm shocked that her skilled lack of customer service is something that is allowed. She actually hung up the phone, I called back yet to be hung up on her again. I will be calling corporate in the am!! I'm hoping corporate has better customer service. Let me start off by saying why a fast food joint decides to have a mobile order app if the employees don't understand how it works. Today was my 2nd time ordering through the app and I only did it cause I had a $7 off voucher per my birthday reward. The first time I used the mobile order app was horrible but only used it again for a free meal. I end up paying $4 and some change through the app..when I come to pick my order up the cashier asks the manager for the receipt for me to sign...they look on the receipt and don't understand how my order is only $4. It's not my fault they don't have the entire order and price difference on there receipt. Mind you they are speaking amongst each other in Spanish and I understand everything. They both ask to see my receipt and make me look and feel like I'm scamming them over chicken. She looks at my receipt and says, oh ok...then gives me my food. Mind you she failed to read it close enough to see I had a large soda cause she didn't give me a drink, and when she did she gave me a small. I had to go back in line and tell her it was a large. She looked at me like I was making that up as well. My point is....either have the mobile app fully communicate with the store as to what is exactly ordered and paid for so when the customer comes in it's not a shit storm. read more

Awful service and management. They can't even get the prices right on the drive through. I ordered the 12 piece "3 course" meal and the board advertised that it was $25. When I got to the window, the receipt said $27. I asked about & the troll of a manager made me wait in the already backed up drive through while she went out and checked the sign. She came back in and showed me a little add from inside the store, showing the same thing for $27. I didn't order from that board. You can't even see it from the drive through. She blamed it on another manager. Any legitimate business would have trained their management to have at least tried to make it right. Ok. I saw a commercial for their carne asada tacos. I thought they looked good so I decided I would go and try them. It was like 10:15pm though so I checked online to see what their hours were. They claim their drive thru is open until 11:00. I arrived there at 10:35 exactly. Pulled up to the drive thru and sat there and waited and waited and waited and nothing. Nobody said anything. I got sick of waiting and I pulled up to the window and low and behold their hours are posted and it says they close at 11:00. I look through the window and see the two people working putting everything away and more or less closing early. They did not even see me. I was pissed. I know I came like 20 minutes before closing but still. All I wanted was a couple of tacos and when I worked in fast food we never closed 20 minutes early. We closed when we were supposed to and cleaned everything up afterwards. Worst customer service ever cause there was not any. It does not end there. I decided to forget this little issue and went back the next afternoon when I knew they would be open for sure to try these tacos. First of all I had to repeat myself 20 times because the girl working the drive thru did not understand plain English. Two carne asada tacos, not that difficult. As far as the food goes one word: disgusting! They came in orders of two and I could not even eat the other one. I barely ate the first one. Just bland meat that you could barely chew it was like rubber, nasty tasteless guacamole, pico de gallo (not so fresh tomatoes), and the tortillas. That was their so called wonderful tacos. I might as well have taken the $7.00 I paid for the two of them and set it on fire and that would have been less of a waste. I should have taken the drive thru fiasco from the night before as a sign. The place is clean and all the employees are so kind .It has some vegetarian meals and that is great because most of our friends are vegetarians. read more

i've only started coming to this restaurant in the last 6-9 months. Whether I eat in, take out, or do drive thru I haven't had any issues. The people are friendly, the place is kept clean, the salsa bar is kept clean and stocked. And I really like the freshness of the food. Makes me feel like I'm eating healthier Mexican food. The service here is exceptional. They are helpful and cheery. Usually, I love their food. An issue I've noticed is that they serve chicken well beyond any reasonable holding time. When I opened up my two piece combo, at home I found three pieces of dry, inedible chicken. Giving me a extra piece doesn't make it become edible. It was pure garbage that was unmistakably shrunken up due to how old and dry it was. This being my second inedible chicken experience with them, I would recommend one come here only during the busy lunch or dinner rush to avoid being served garbage. read more

You can't go wrong when you order anything on the menu, and this location always has amazing and consistent service. The lines get long sometimes but the staff finds a way to power through it, so you don't have to wait too long. As far as fast food goes, this is the only place I go to when I have the craving. Overall The food is Amazing with great authentic mexican food even though I reside in Kentwood Michigan now ,I originated from San Jose and grew up around mostly in California from San Jose to Stockton.Every time I've went there I would always order the fire-grilled chicken with the sides of tortillas to make your own tacos which was always nice to do but the thing I enjoyed most as a meal was the spicy chipotle burrito,I was told that the burrito was going to be big when I first ever ordered it which they weren't lying as I was barely able to finish half of it even though it was tasty and right amount of spicy it was just hard to finish it and as a add factor they also had a mini salad bar which you could pick from more sauces to limon .But the thing that I will always cherish in their food menu that has a sort of sentimental feeling for me and what made me want to keep eating here was the churros ,I remember clearly when I was four when my dad was younger ,he actually use to work there in the restaurant itself so when he could, he would come back from work late at night he would bring some churros for me which not only they were good but were one of the few times I would be able to see him since he would almost always work most of the day,so overall not only eating their food was good but I was able to bond with my dad.There's still many food to try that you have to be there to experience and If I was able to come back to California again El Pollo Loco would be one the top choices to grab a meal in my opinion as it should be yours too read more

If I could give this place any stars from 0-5 it would be 0 stars. This place is not very well taken care of and could use a lot more cleaning inside the place. The salsa area is horrible, salsa is all over the counter and the floor is also just horribly dirty food is all over the floor. The tables could also need cleaning not one table was being cleaned by a worker or not one worker could come over asking us if our table needed cleaning. This place is just HORRIBLE! And also the food had no taste at all. If this is going to be a Mexican "restaurant" it should at least be real Mexican food with taste. read more

I usually love coming to this location because I live nearby but I won't give them my business anymore. There was a time that I went and the girl was in a rush and not at all enthusiastic to take my order, then when I pull up to pay she told me there weren't any chips. (I had ordered a combo with chips and an extra bag of chips on the side) I asked how long it would take to make some, which I'm guessing takes less than 5 minutes, she told me she couldn't make any because they were closing early on account of it being a slow night. Mind you, it was only 10:15pm and the drive thru closes at 11:00pm. It wasn't even the fact that I had to go without chips that upset me, it was the fact that her leaving early from work was more important than getting my order right, which I was actually still charged full price for. I'm a supervisor where I work and I know that when we're having a slow night we don't put a customers preferences aside in order to benefit ourselves. I found this experience to be extremely unprofessional which is why I now give my business to the new Tracy location instead.
