I normally don't leave reviews, but this has happened several times. Every time I order takeout, it's the same issue. Please pay more attention to your takeout orders. This is what a $17.99 pozole looked like after I was charged an additional $1.99 for extra hominy, for a total of about $20. It had no meat at all, and the extra hominy I paid for was barely noticeable. When people order takeout, it's usually because they're in a hurry. Customers shouldn't have to check every order before leaving to make sure they're getting what they paid for. This has happened more than once, and it's very frustrating. read more

7/21/25 - This evening I was undecided on what to order and I should have asked if they had nachos but did not see it on their rolling menu board. So, I ordered the wet burrito and a sprite. It was good but more than I thought it would be, but after I finished paying she gave me some fresh nachos and I was okay!!!! The salsa bar here is everything!!! If you cannot find what you need then I don't know what to say. I must bring my grandson back because he is still raving about the queso tacos he enjoyed. My burrito came hot & looking very delicious. I didn't think I was going to finish it because it was huge, but I did. Every bite was delicious too!!!! You also can choose which kind of soda you want from the self-serve beverage machine. A member of the staff brings you your meal. It's been a while since we have been here. They have expanded size of dining area and remodeled. Not sure how to feel about the new look it is modern and neutral colors. No pictures or stuff in the walls like most Mexican places so maybe it will grow on me. My Al pastor fries were delicious, crispy and smothered in the Al pastor juice so very satisfying!!! Wife's burrito was good and the salsa bar is amazing and very fresh. Very busy spot, you order at the register and they give you number and bring your food. We heard they have mariachi on Sundays, 1pm-3pm, so we came to check them out. The line to order food was very long, but the family ahead of us scooched up so we wouldn't have to stand outside. I ordered 3 tacos: 2 al pastor, 1 asada. They were a bit bigger than your usual street taco. 3 was enough for me, and had double tortilla. The al pastor is my go-to! Liked that they put small bits of fresh pineapple on the taco. The meat portion was very was generous. The salsa bar was fully stocked, limes, salsa, garnishes, pickled jalapenos, anything you could want. We also got a large green juice to share. They make all their juices fresh! It was fresh and tasty, and made me feel like it balanced out my tacos :) Hubby ordered the flautas plate like he did a few months ago. I thought I remembered them being bigger or longer in size, so I pulled up my last review of here from our last visit, and saw they were the same size, however, last time the plate came with a side of guac, which we did not have. I asked one of the staff passing by, but the mariachi music was loud so we couldn't hear each other. I showed her the picture, and pointed to hubby's plate, and she brought us a side of guac. It looked blended and very smooth, instead of chunky like last time but it's guac I guess. Here's a polished and corrected version in English: Normally I would give them 5 stars, but today they really disappointed me . I stopped by and ordered carne asada, a beet and carrot juice, and a guacamole. I was really happy and excited because, after a difficult day and going through chemotherapy, it sounded like the most delicious meal I could imagine. Imagine my surprise when I got home, set everything on the table, and realized my guacamole was missing. I was upset, but I thought, "Oh well." I decided to call later to ask for a refund, and meanwhile I started eating the carne asada... it was extremely dry and almost burnt. Since it was so dry, I took a sip of my beet and celery juice, only to realize it had orange and carrot in it instead, and the oranges tasted kind of rancid. So I called the restaurant to explain what happened with my guacamole and ask for my money back. While thinking about everything, it crossed my mind that I hadn't left a tip. I started wondering if maybe that was why everything went wrong. Right now I'm on disability because I'm undergoing cancer treatment and I'm unable to work, so financially things are not easy for me. Long story short, I spoke with a woman on the phone and all she said was, "Okay, you'll receive your refund in three days." What stayed with me the most was that there was no apology or empathy at all. It honestly left me feeling disappointed, and that's not okay. As a customer, especially during such a difficult time in my life, I expected at least some kindness and understanding. I'm leaving this message so management can better train their employees in customer service. It's not good to focus so heavily on tips or risk a lawsuit because of the attitude of a waitress or server. read more

It's located right off of 99 of Yosemite. There is plenty of parking since it is in a shopping center. They have an extensive menu of Mexican food and seafood including appetizers. Some items I found were priced higher than expected. There is plenty of seating as it is a big sit in restaurant. You have to order first, fill your drink and find a seat. Once food is ready they Fong's your table C and take it to you. Service was pretty prompt and pleasant. They brought out the guacamole first. It was huge in a mile sheet surrounded with fresh cucumber. Good for like 4 people! I had the fried fish taco. It was really good, nice and loaded. The shrimp taco was the best. They loaded it with shrimp. I also had the quesabirria. They brought it out last so I ate it last.... I should have had it first since it wasn't crispy as I liked it. I love they had a salsa bar. I am so pleasantly impressed with this place. I'm here for my daughter's volleyball tournament and staying at a hotel across the street. I was super hungry so walked across the street to find some food. After looking into a couple restaurants in the same center, I decided to try mexican food. It's was a long line. A couple of my coworkers have raved about this place and shared that it was their favorite Mexican place in Manteca. There's several locations to choose from, but both of my coworkers go to the one on Yosemite. Was ordering for my mother-in-law and the babes and let the counter know that I was looking for an option that was not spicy, unfortunately, all the food was very very spicy. Luckily, the friendly staff warned me their enchilada sauce with spicy, so I also brought a couple of tacos home for them and it was a good thing I did. Both the green and the red enchilada sauce was very spicy. I ordered a super quesadilla with Al Pastore which had a great flavor, but was also spicy. Portion was huge and ended up sharing it with my nephew who had a hard time eating it due to the spice level. Now, if you're into the flaming hot, this place is definitely for you! I've never been a fan. They have a good staff, and they're friendly when they come to the store where I work. When they catered for Target, they sent us a lot of burritos (200+?) that were acceptable, sufficient, but not great or tasty. I helped the owners (81 and 77 years old) of the house where I live yesterday and we went to order. We ordered Menudo, Pozole, a Chile Relleno Plato, and a Cucumber Lime drink. We didn't get the two containers and Menudo and I wanted to check the receipt but we didn't get that, either. Maybe it was a mistake or a misunderstanding, but it wasn't exactly what had been planned. The Pozole was very good. It was the best thing I'd had from any La Estrella location. They must have got grandma to make it. Some places seem to open a can of Juanita's and heat it. The rest of the food was good, but not great, I was told. They opened up the dining room and it will look great once they're done, but they're not likely adding to the kitchen and they're already straining to keep up. I have been here many times and have always had a great experience. This time it was late and I was ordering a burrito for my husband. I LOVE their salsa bar. They have everything you can think of and as much of it as you want. I love having cucumbers with my food and my husband likes the pickled veggies. My husband got a carne asada burrito with everything, said it was excellent. The asada was cooked well and not fatty. Ordered at the counter, they gave me a number. While I waited I grabbed my fill of all the salsas and some jalepenos. The staff was courteous and kept the salsa bar clean. The restuarant was busy, a lot of families having dinner. I was shocked to see the staff bring a plate of pancakes to the table for a young man at 8 PM. They looked SO good! Not sure why this Taqueria has specials on tuesdays if it hurts or upsets them to sell tacos for 1:50 I went in today and ordered 4 tacos They only give you three choices of meat! I asked the staff why the carne asada Tacos aren't discounted and they said because beef is pricy! Been coming here for years. Never had issue with what we ordered. It is the environment that wears on you. We stopped coming here because the TV's back in the day were always blasting noise. They remodeled and got rid of the TV's. Now the stereo is worse. Plus they don't pay for piped music but play a local station that turns up the sound on commercials. Place looks newly remodeled/upgraded rolling screen menu is nice. Salsa bar is clean and has a variety of different salsa flavors the green salsa was the best one they give you complimentary chips. You place your order and receive a number and they deliver your food to you. I give them only two stars because service was not up to par. We went around 2pm on a Saturday and they were busy however we received only half of our order and I had to get up twice to ask where the rest of our order was and they had no clue. Guess they forgot our Chile relleno and Tripas tacos both of which were good. If you don't care about service but enjoy food then you'd like their food. I had the Camarones plate sauce was spicy if you like chipotle sour cream sauce then try this. I ordered a moharra that was way overdone. Brother in law ordered a campechana with scallops. It had zero flavor in it, and the seafood looked(and tasted) like it was old. I had made the management aware of the issue with the campechana, and they gave us a refund, so at least they (kinda)are it right. Located in the shopping center next to Great Wolf lodge/Costco/Ross, etc. If your in the mood for some tasty Mexican food, fast service, family friendly environment this is your stop.
