Not sure if they were short-staffed, but we were utterly disappointed with the experience. For the price point, we expected elevated service for a party of 10 with a mandatory 20% gratuity. I'm not going to blame the servers, as I feel like the service is a reflection of management and how they train and execute the experience for customers. Coming through on an off-season midweek late lunch, we weren't surprised to find no crowds - which we kinda liked. (We've been here many times, mostly during weekend peak times and offff...) We didn't miss that at all. There are tons of cute shops, eateries (many who are very dog friendly), and fantastic ocean views. If you feel like getting steps in, I suggest walking to the end of the pier and back. Parking is hit and miss. A challenge during the weekends, but plenty. Street and structure available. You can pay with cards, coins or through an app. It never gets old coming through. We shall return over and over again.

Several public parking lots are located close by. These include the Upper Pier Lots, Lower Pier Lots, and Lot 2. Street parking is also available. If you're lucky, you may get a parking spot. Manhattan Beach, California, USA is definitely not a place I will be coming back to anytime soon…read moreafter this experience. I came in driving a Tesla and parked with my wheels not pointed toward the curb, which I fully understand was my mistake. I expected a simple ticket and moved on. Instead, they doubled down and issued another ticket shortly after for not having a front license plate. The timing of everything felt excessive and honestly frustrating, especially because it all happened within about 10 minutes of parking. What made it even more questionable was that as I was walking back, I noticed multiple other cars around me with the exact same issues. Tesla after Tesla, residents included, many without front license plates and similar small violations. That is what made the whole situation feel less like consistent enforcement and more like something was being selectively enforced or overly targeted in that moment. I cannot say for sure what the intention was, but the experience definitely did not feel balanced or fair. By the time I left, the whole situation had completely soured the visit. Instead of enjoying being in Manhattan Beach, I spent my time dealing with frustration and trying to get out of there. I understand rules are rules, but how they are enforced matters, and this felt unnecessarily aggressive. Manhattan Beach should do better in how it handles visitors and parking enforcement, because moments like this really shape how people feel about returning.

This time around…read moreit appears they set up a registration booth where you can reserve a time with the attendee. There is a child's park right in front which is convenient for people with kids. I've had fun here both of the times I had came here and could only go up and down a couple times. It's a popular workout spot with restrooms and stairs on the side of the sand dune make everything so convenient. Even when it's crowded I was still able to get parking and on the other side of the park I noticed there is ample parking for handicap spots.

We booked the sunset ride for Sunday at 7:00 p.m. We checked in around 6:40. It only took about 5…read moreminutes to fill out the waiver and get a wristband and walk towards the water. They also have a key to the bathroom, which is around the corner. Even though we were 20 minutes early, they let us get on the water bike after a quick instruction. Riding on the water bikes was really fun! We rode around the bay and the water was choppy sometimes but as you get inside the bay, the water is calmer. A trick is that if you feel the water is too choppy, start paddling - the water will calm down with the pedaling. There are several boats around which provided live music for us. The bike has two cup holders and a front container to put your phones and small stuff in. We had a great time. They share a parking lot with nearby restaurants which offer 3 hours of free parking. That is a huge plus for something near the beach! We will be back next time to try a glow ride.
