Cheap food not that bad and I can get some pretty good food but it has a few things wrong on the menu

They've changed. The quality and service has gone way down. They changed a recipe on a dish and I actually called to ask about it. Not Karen style, I wasn't demanding a refund. I just wanted to know if it was a permanent change so I would know whether to order it again. They said it was the same recipe as always so I ordered it again about a week later. Food isn't good anymore. Service is awful if you go inside. Even getting the food to go makes you wish you just went to el Parral.

El Ranchito in Collinsville: The food was very good but I recommend bringing your own silverware and drinks. It was not busy at all and they appeared to be well staffed. We had to ask and wait for silverware while our food cooled off in front of us. Others around us said "same thing happened to us". Wife and I went for lunch and wife ordered a taco salad and I ordered chimicjanga. Wifes taco salad came and it is in a taco shell with a inch of water in the shell. Have never had a taco salad with water. It looked like soup. She showed the waitress and she went to get the manager. After several minutes this guy comes and says he is the owner and right away starts talking about how the kitchen people are scooping stuff in the shell. My wife is just trying to show him that there is so much water and he tells her if she would just be quiet he is telling how the use spoons or something. I don't give a crap how they are screwing up in the kitchen and he is the rudest owner. If my wifes brother was with us they would be scraping this jackass off the floor. There are so many Mexican restaurants in the area and this is the last place I would ever go again. If I can give no stars I would! read more

Have been eating at this establishment for years but after my experience tonight I will never set foot in it again!! After waiting close to an hour for our food to arrive I questioned the waitress as to when it would be ready. She said that she would go check and she never returned. However another lady came to tell us that the cook was on break and that our food would be another 30 minutes before it was ready .. THE COOK WAS ON BREAK!!! Our waiter that had blue hair gave us our drinks and never returned. He showed up at the cash register though to take our money which was $20 for 4 drinks, a side of sour cream which I was going to eat with my meal that I never received and a side of cheese to dip our nachos in. Just went to eat here with my family and we had to end up walking out. We got there at 6:50pm. By 7:20 we still did not have drinks. When they did bring the drinks (sodas, no alcohol), they were incorrect and we asked them to fix them. We also asked for more chips and salsa and the OWNER told us it was either the drinks or the chips, he couldn't do both. We waited until 7:40 and my husband went and asked for the total of our drinks and chips and dip and told them we had been waiting for 50 minutes and hadn't even gotten the right drinks and that we would be leaving. Again, the OWNER instead of apologizing came to our table and made an absolute scene and about how he went out of his way to take out drink order and got loud with us(how embarrassing). I had never had to walk out of a restaurant for bad service but theres no doubt I will never step foot back in there after that. read more

Very disappointing! I have been coming here for years and this was my absolute favorite until my mom and I ate here Saturday. I don;t know what has changed here during the past few weeks but there was 1 server for the entire restaurant and it was busy! We sat waiting to even be acknowledged for our drink order. Took forever to even get chips and salsa. My food was correct (hard to screw up the basic thing I ordered) but my mother's entire order was incorrect. For the first time in my life I walked out of a restaurant without leaving a tip. Terrible experience and I will not be returning! read more

I've been to El Ranchito several times and have been impressed with each and every visit. The food is always delicious and comes out quickly and the service is impeccable. The margaritas are a little sweet for my taste, but they're still good and strong. I never thought I would find good Mexican food in Henry County, Virginia, but it exists and its name is El Ranchito. read more

El Ranchito and Mi Ranchito are one of the best Mexican restaurants in Martinsville/Collinsville. Much better then El Norteno if you ask me! The staff is pretty nice as well. Oh, and they have some of the cleanest kitchens in town (my family used to run a restaurant/bar in the area and so we are familiar with the condition of Martinsville/Collinsville kitchens - let's just say - they aren't the cleanest!). read more

Local and long time patron here. This place use to be great. USE TO BE. Tonight was the last night we'll return. We're weekly customers who always tip 20%+ you'd think service would be better because of this but it's not. They raised their prices, but the food and service has declined immensely. The waiters are rude, and don't do their jobs. You have to practically beg and make a scene to get service. Most Fridays recently, we order and wait at least 20-30 min for our food. Even if it's a slow night. The food they serve isn't being cooked to order so it should not take that long. You get one drink and have to pray for a refill because the wait staff doesn't actually wait on you. They're just terrible. Don't waste your money here. The area has way better Mexican restaurants. We order the same thing every time and both of our checks were $5 more than they usually are. Why raise your price yet still provide terrible service and COLD FOOD!? Lupe (the owner) doesn't care and it shows. If you complain about his employees he blames you for their bad service and then refuses service to you. I have seen it done multiple times. If you want good Mexican food go elsewhere. Go a few miles up the road or into martinsville. This placed has declined so much and should have shut down years ago. read more

The best Mexican restaurant in Henry County. Never really had a bad dish. The guacamole is awesome and service is usually great. If I could change one thing, I wish they would put the beans directly on the plate instead of a tortilla bowl. Personally I'm not a fan of corn tortillas and I think the bowl flavors the beans. read more

This is the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. The portions are perfect and they have a wide selection. Customer service is perfect as well. Anything you'd like taken off the plate or added, they'll surely do for you. I love the pollo con crema and recommend trying that. read more
