Friendly restaurant with good Mexican food at very reasonable prices. Start off your meal with their complimentary chips and salsa, which were surprisingly addicting. They happily offered to refill the chips, I think giving us 3 baskets in total. For my meal, I got the fajitas del mar which came with a generous amount of fish, shrimp and SCALLOPS, as well as veggies. The fish was a bit too thin for the heavy frying it got on both sides, which made it too crispy with no meat. The whole dish was also a bit too oily for me. But I loved that it came out sizzling hot. It also came with a side of salad with a dollop of guac (I could have done with more) and sour cream. Don't miss the churros! read more

Last time supporting this business. I was treated by an employee like I was trying to steal food. They left out part of my order so I called to let them know, they told me to come back to get it, when I got there I was greeted by one employee saying it wasn't part of my order (even though they verified over the phone it was) and that as a one time exception they would give it for free today. It was the lettuce, tomato, and sour cream salad That was missing....not like I was asking for a whole lot. The lady was so rude and hateful. She let me know next time i would have to pay for it. I just had the worst service ever...the waitress was rude and had attitude ,she was obviously upset we came in at 9 she let us know they close at 10 which we were ok with..it was my daughter's birthday so it was a small gathering. We also noticed that as we were leaving they were still serving alcohol to other patrons even though we were told that it had been last call. The manager that came to "help" us was rude and over talked the other young lady that was with us. I've worked as a server I understand that it can be hectic, but the way everyone on the staff behaved was unacceptable. I do not play the race thing but how can all of the Caucasian people still be allowed to drink and we were told the complete opposite. Horrible service. Went there for lunch with a friend and ordered our food. I went to tell the guy that we wanted cheese dip and he completely ignored us. Then we waited a hour just to get our food. When it finally came it was wrong. So we just got up and left, but I still paid for our drinks and chips and even tipped the waitress because she was nice and apologized for the wait. There is definitely a difference between a waitress who makes you feel tolerated and one who makes you feel actually welcome. We did not feel welcome. Both of the waitresses on duty during our visit just had a stand offish energy about them. We made the most of our meal and tipped adequately for good karma. read more

We didn't get the guacamole we ordered nor did she make it back to get us more mixed drinks before our good was gone. She then tried to justify her absence by claiming she had a large group. Even their site is unclaimed lol. Traveling from AZ where Mexican food is beyond explanation I ended up Collinsville. The food was sub par and and our high school waitress did not even know the menu.....I had to explain to her which she spoke no Spanish what the f we wanted. She showed up at our table every 5 min because she had no clue? Very mismanaged restaurant and they seem to only cater to the local at the bar drinking alcohol. Sadly two weeks later I craved Mexican food and ordered a pick up....hour later after showing up and my food was to be done in 20 min...they got my order wrong...Week night and no one except the local drunks were at the bar. Los Norteños never disappoints. My husband and I eat here weekly. I would recommend their Mexican hotdogs, Mexican cheesesteak, and Burrito California. They also have daily drink and food specials on all of your favorites. The wait staff is friendly and service always impeccable. There are waiters that we request due to some having a lack of gumption to actually serve. Stop in and say hi to Leon, he'd love to see you. read more

Located right next to the legendary Dutch Inn, Nortenos was a pleasant surprise. The menu has tons of options and meals are very reasonably priced. We sat in the bar area with 9 coaches at a round table. Dos Equis pitchers and chips and salsa were delivered frequently by a friendly staff. El Ranchito was packed so I figured I would give this place a try...Bad Idea! I understand that it's a Mexican restaurant(I love Mexican food) but if you are running a business here in the U.S., your waiters/waitresses need to have a better grasp of the English language(speaking and understanding). It took forever to get my chips/salsa, even that was cold/stale. I ordered what I usually order but much to my surprise, I found a HUGE bay leaf in one of my burritos. Having lived in Mexico for 5 years we have had the privilege of experiencing real authentic good Mexican food. At Los Norteños the flavor and quality of food is closer to true Mexican cuisine than other places we've sampled. If you are feeling adventuresome and would like to try something other than pollo con arroz, I suggest trying the chicken and mole sauce. We have some really good Mexican restaurants here but this is my favorite! Crowds don't lie! Always busy for good reasons. Margaritas are yummy and chips are tasty. Food has been average or average plus until tonight my soda showed up and after drinking half of it I realize there is mold throughout the ice. My wife brought this to the attention of the server she explained that there ice machine was down and they bought that ice from the dollar store and she was very sorry. She was very nice about the situation. I no longer felt like eating as you can imagine I was one taco in on the steak taco plate so three tacos were left on the plate almost all of my rice and beans my wife and kids did not take another drink and guess what when we left all we got was a sorry and they charged us full price even for the MOLDY drinks!
