Meh. Just ordinary. The service was decent. My food was ok. Ordered the pollo jalisco with rice. I have never seen chicken that thin! The vegetables were plain. Very little cheese and less flavor. Overall the dish was just ok. I cannot get excited about this.

El Puente is our family's favorite Mexican restaurant, we are first and second generation Latino's, grandparents originally from Guanajuato. The Authenticity of the food is great for lots of things on the menu my favorite being the carnitas or carnitas street tacos. I've always found the rice here to also be my favorite and I love the quesadillas! Other great things on the menu is the cheese dip, horchata and Xango (pronounced chango). We love the wait staff and the owner, they are always so friendly and quick with service even on busy nights. Special recognition to Sandra our favorite waitress.

Tonight I enjoyed a nice dinner at a local favorite! I had the fajita taco salad. I ordered it Texas style so that it had the shrimp, steak and chicken in it. I am not a big bread eater so I did it without the shell and it came out perfect. The guacamole was super fresh as well as the tomato which was very important to me. This is one dish I would absolutely get again. The service was awesome our waitress was very on top of things and kept our glasses full. I am very impressed with the level of service!

This was a little tucked away Mexican place that made my belly so happy . The food was so authentic and everything was served in very hefty portions! They give you free salsa and chips on the house, which is always a plus. The salsa even came in a pitcher! I could have drank it. My fiancé and I started out with some nachos and a quesadilla, and then split a burrito together. Ugh. Delicious! Our server was super helpful and was such a pleasure to have. He had a very friendly demeanor and assisted us in making diverse menu choices! I also enjoyed a strawberry margarita with my meal which was super sweet and just right. The ambiance was fun and relaxed with lots of Mexican jamz playing on the speakers. Quite honestly, it had me bouncing in my seat and made me want to dance ! I would definitely return here, we actually have already planned to! The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because it is a bit dated and could have some updates in the dinky bathrooms!

Always so good. Moses is the absolute best server and bartender. Every one knows how good he is, people continually ask for him and he is always busy.

I have been here many times and I am satisfied in many ways every time. First of all the food has always been good and I get different things every time. Diabla quesadilla, acp, burritos etc and they are always filling and delicious. Second the saff is always super nice and are following proper covid safety regulations. This is my all time favorite Mexican place out of three in Madison.

Food is always good. Service is hit or miss. I really enjoy their tacos and carnitas. I wish they offered other authentic options like sopes, pozole, tamales, tortas etc. Will continue to come back here because the food is consistent.

Pretty standard Tex-Mex fare, but decently done. Quite a large location, lots of seating and parking. Service was very good.

My wife and I live in Greensboro and we're headed up to Madison to see somebody and decided to get lunch. As soon as we walked into the restaurant I felt like I had gone back in time to maybe 2003. Where else anywhere in this country in the last 10 years have you seen a lunch special on a Saturday for $4.99? I had a fried chimichanga that was covered in cheese sauce came with a very fresh side of lettuce and guacamole and sour cream and tomatoes and refried beans and my wife had the speedy fresh basket of chips with fresh salsa and with tip because we gave about a 30% tip our bill was like $16. And if you look at the pictures I posted I could have gotten a 22 oz draft beer for $279. Now maybe it was a Coors light maybe it was a Miller lite but regardless when is the last time you've paid less than $6 for a beer at a restaurant? And 6.99 for a jumbo margarita? And the house margarita I believe was only like four something. I feel like this place is a solid 4 and 1/2 stars and I wish we could review it that way but it's not the best Mexican I've ever had but I will say the food was very good it was very fresh it was hot and the wait staff was exceptional. To the point that living in Greensboro I would definitely drive to Madison to go eat Mexican here because the food is good and the prices are ridiculous.

True to its namesake, there are brightly colored folk art designs throughout the restaurant in line with their Mexican heritage. The trees that make it look overgrown from the outside actually serve to allow sunlight while masking the surrounding city, facilitating the transformation that makes you feel like you're in Mexico City. We came at an off-peak time in the afternoon and it was nearly empty. We were seated immediately and the service was prompt and attentive. I was pleased to see some unique menu offerings like Birra Ramen and Sopes that deviate from the standard American-friendly fare in most places. Drinks were good - we had a regular house margarita, a triple berry margarita, and a jalapeño cucumber margarita. All were tasty and I would order again. I tried to order a Mezcalita, since it's not often I see a Mezcal option, but they were out of that particular liquor. We tried to get street corn as an appetizer, which they were also out of. We got cheese and salsa with chips instead. The chips were hot and fresh, the salsa generous with the cilantro, and the cheese bold and warm. For entrees we had the Al Pastor Quesadilla and the Birra Ramen. The quesadilla was good, though the beans on the side were pretty bland. The ramen was a unique and very tasty option, and I was not able to finish such a generous portion. I think I'd leave the cheese out next time since it made some weird textures, but the flavor was great overall. Overall, there are some small things to improve (having menu items in stock, bland beans) and the prices were a bit high, but we had a great experience overall. I'm not often in the area, but I'll certainly eat here again if I am!

We were part of a larger party of couples, approximately 12-14 people in total. Space was reserved in advance on the covered patio which was ready early for the party and the staff was happy to seat us and get drinks started. Overall the restaurant was very clean as well as the restrooms. The reason for 3-stars is I rate Mexican restaurants on three main dishes which should always be outstanding; Al Pastor, Carnitas, and sizzling Fajitas. If there is a failure with any ONE of these menu items the highest rating I can give is 3-stars! For starters the salsa was bland no taste, no hint of cilantro or spice. Some previous reviews mentioned the chips were thin, I didn't find that to be the case during my visit. They were fresh and warm. The fajitas were great, probably some of the best we've had in years. They were well seasoned and the steak & chicken was very tender. The veggies still had some crunch and weren't overcooked. However, there was no guacamole and a small squirt of sour cream. The rice didn't have any flavor on it, no salt..nothing!, But the beans were nicely seasoned and we were glad the beans didn't have cheese on them. However, we had to request the flour tortillas several times. The Carnitas were tender but had absolutely no flavor or seasoning whatsoever. They were just chunks of fried pork tips in grease, probably fried in vegetable oil not the traditional lard and obviously not with sour orange and seasonings. There wasn't a grilled jalapeño or even any pico de gallo on the side, they were very disappointing. We couldn't find Al Pastor anywhere on the menu. And speaking of the menu it was very large with way too many items. You can't possibly do all of these items justice. I recommend they scale the menu down and do a superb job on the customer "favorites" while offering seasonal items for a limited time.

The tacos were not topped when I got them, the meat was in warm tortillas and the chopped onion, lime, and cilantro were in a separate area. I applied the toppings, added lime juice and some of several salsas completed the item. These are good tacos and there is plenty of chorizo in them. I would order tacos here again if in the area, but it is not a destination spot. The Pozole Rojo was not really good. It was greasy, under seasoned, and had a bitter after taste.
