We love this restaurant and often eat here when in the neighborhood. I can't speak to every menu item but their pork (permil) is phenomenally delicious+succulent and a good sized portion for price ie. not only quality flavorful food but really good value! It's Puerto Rican, it closes early 4pm. Much more of a daytime lunch place which does a lot of take home (Carryout area at front) dinners. Great beef empanadas. Very Good Authentic Puerto Rican food! Started with a beef empanada and an alcapurria Both were great! Ordered the Mofongo with carne frita The Mofongo was perfectly seasoned. Not to salty and the amount of garlic was not overpowering. The carne frita was good to not too fatty! My wife had the pernil and she loved it and also enjoyed her Mofongo. We will definitely be returning very soon when I do I will update post with some pictures. read more

Ordered food for 70 people for a wedding luncheon from this place. The pernil and arroz con gandules was delicious. Also ordered roast chicken and green salad. We had to wait to place an order, but were treated very nicely. We also asked to have the food delivered to a place that was about 20 minutes away. Everything was delivered on time and in perfect condition. It looked good and tasted great! I was worried that the salad would be brown and wilted, but it looked like a picture out of a magazine and was fresh and crisp. (I never tried the chicken, but there were no leftovers.) I tried this place the other day the arroz con Guandules was wicked flavorful. The baked chicken tasted great ! The fried chicken looked amazing! Unfortunately they brought it out after I placed my order the line was getting long and was in a lunch time rush! Just stopped in here for lunch today and oh my god I wish I knew about this place sooner. My girlfriend and I ended up splitting a large take out container from the buffet because we saw the portion she gave the customer before us and it was HUGE! We ended up getting rice with pork and we also got this meat thing that was fried, tostones, and a potato ball. The way it works is that there's three options with the takeout containers: small, medium, large. Each one comes with rice and meat just the portions are obviously bigger or smaller depending on what size you get. The large was so worth it for both of us in my opinion. We still have yet to finish it and it's not even halfway done. The container came out to $10. Also, it comes with a free side of beans so that's awesome! The tostones was only $1 and it came with sauce which is a combination of mayonnaise and ketchup I'm pretty sure. This was also really good. The potato ball and the other fried meat food (I don't remember the name) was so delicious too! The service here was awesome. There was a guy working there in a Boston Red Sox hat, and he was super nice! Overall, this place was excellent. The portion, price, quality, and service was all spectacular, and I can't wait to come back! read more

This is the second of two Spanish restaurants located in Holyoke that has good food. That being said it gets packed fast during lunch time and you will need to wait a long time. The food here is exactly as advertised. This is not Tex/Mex claiming to be Puerto Rican. This is true island food. The Pernil is excellent. It falls apart it is so well prepared. The rices are amazing, all of them. All the plantain dishes, both savory and sweet, are a delight. For a treat, try the Pernil w/ Arroz con Gandulas and 6 or 7 Bolitas de Mofongo on the side. The food used to be great, but since has drastically gone down in quality. Their customer service is also horrible!!! It seems like no one at the restaurant has any idea what their duties are or how to do them. Also, today had to go back three times for them to get my ham egg and cheese sandwich correct. The first time they forgot the ham!!! The second time the bread was extremely soggy. No one believed the issues and were terrible at consoling or remediating the issues. read more

After ordering our food from a server who barely even greeted us let alone spoke to us, it was over 40 minutes before we even got server to come to table to say food out in a bit. Table next to us came in after us, ordered similar to us, got food and ate, we still have no food or drink. Asked how soon for food, front counter said wasn't sure how much longer. Do not go here if you do not speak Spanish you will not have any chance in hell and getting what you want I ended up getting the garlic shrimp as I knew what that was the portions were large but I just wasn't as happy as I could have done there definitely was too much grease in the shrimp the plantains were undercooked. Because I couldn't just get rice with it I ordered a side and when I got home put the rice at the bottom and the shrimp on top like I said it was so greasy the rice wouldn't even soak it up. I did though have a couple of bites of their shredded pork and I will say I'm shocked that it was actually moist and not salty. Overall they have a decent flavor but it's just not cooked well enough to really enjoy. read more

Not the best experience. Walked in was seated fairly quick. They didn't ask if We wanted a drink or anything just waited. 10 minutes later waitress asked if we wanted something to drink and took our orders. Few minutes later a couple walked in needless to say they received their drinks and food while here we are waiting for ours. This couple is almost done with their meal by the time we received ours. My husband that doesn't like garlic and requested for his meal not to have any, got his with a lot of garlic, my request for garlic was placed on the side. Still waiting for the waitress to come and ask how was the food and if we needed anything else. Well I guess I'm still waiting! Thank you for the great customer service! My wife and our small child had lunch here today. It isn't fine dining, but if you are craving hearty home cooking (abuela-style), this is the place to go. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to families. The lunch specials came out hot and fresh, and the portions were beyond generous. The pernil, bistec encebollado, arroz con guandules, and empanadillas with shrimp brought back memories of vacation in Ponce and San Juan. The prices are also very reasonable.
