El Rincón del Sol, Tonalá', Jalisco, México My wife and I happened to map search for restaurants while in Tonala'. Wow...what a find with El Rincón del Sol restaurant. Excellent cleanliness, service and food. Nice Mexican style atmosphere. We had the house speciality Chiles en Nogada. I did not know it but this is normally a seasonal dish at most restaurants. Lucky for us El Rincon del Sol serves it year round and it is marvelous! We also had the house special appetizer of Quesadillas Tonaltecas, which are also excellent. Been here 3-4 times, when I'm in tonala I will leave without going here at least for 1 meal. Foods prepped very well, salsas are delicious, yesterday we had Steak Molcajete that comes with rice and beans and cactus(nopales) and other ingredients. It was just delicious. Service is great and so is environment. Check it out, definitely worth it. Update, just came back here today, they're still Bomb. This place doesn't disappoint. I love this restaurant! I had molocajete for the first time. I found the chicken tender and the dish full of flavor. The guacamole was fresh and delicious. The margaritas are strong. The service was friendly and very efficient. I sat by a window and enjoyed watching the world pass by. There was live music, which was quite beautiful. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Looks like a great place, although we arrived and waiters didn't even look at us. We waited for about 15 minutes for which the waiter just asked a second to be with us. After another 5 minutes, we decided to leave. I hope this restaurant improve their service. I am glad we didn't stay, because I think it would be just as bad as we arrived. Instead, I recommend going to Burritos de Tonalá. The service was the best from the beginning, and the place is nice and comfortable, very clean, great decoration and atmosphere. read more

Breakfast was pretty good in this colorful place downtown. We started with a fruit plate and then ordered a molcajete de huevo and huevos mexicanos. Bread, tortillas, salsas, juices were all good. A guitarist came and played a few songs for a tip and the restrooms were clean. Lots of locals there which is a good sign. Better coffee options would help. read more

I can't believe there are no reviews! Oh well, all you need to know is this place is fabulous . It's been in business for over twenty (yes 20) years. The signature dish is "Chiles en Nogada", which is a chile relleno stuffed with a yummy ground beef mixture topped with a walnut cream sauce then sprinkled with pomegranate seeds. Stopped by during a walk in the town on Tonalá. The restaurant in like in a patio kind of place. I had the shrimp molcajete and it was good. Chips and salsa asada was good. Pico de gallo salsa smelled like it was rotten. The shrimp burrito looked huge but it was the tortilla that made it look big. I'm am from Arizona/Sonora area and stakes in our area taste very different from the south of Mexico. I personallyso not recommend stakes when traveling to the south of Mexico. Instead have chilaquiles etc. Restrooms were clean. Restaurant seemed a little dusty. Other food was ok. read more

My friends had taken us to the craft market nearby and this was a nice stop. I kept looking at all the tacos, menudo, and other fried goodness but some of the people in our group were of the vegetarian preference. So this was a nice spot that could accommodate all of us. Hey The service was a amazing, the margaritas refreshing, and the food was was good. If you are reading this and like gravy, cheese, and steak... do yourself a favor and order the Rincon Del Sol, it's their house steak and it's sooooo good. I stopped at this restaurant and fell in love. The inside looks like an Hacienda with a tranquil water feature. The service was great. They walk around and offer pan dulce. I ordered the Green chilaquiles with chicken, they were superb. The chilaquiles were crunchy and all food full of flavor. I would definitely come here again. read more
