Was recommended by a friend so we decided to give it a try. We were seated right away and menus brought and drink orders taken. They have summits a large menu but I zeroed in on the grande steak fajita burrito and my wife went with the enchilada dinner. Only sides are rice and refried beans which were ok. The food came out and the plates were full and hot. The rice and beans were the standard fare. The enchilada and burrito were nice and large covered with sour cream sauce. Flavors were good. Sauce was a little thin but tasted good. I asked for some hotter salsa and she brought dine but wasn't much more than the regular sauce. I like it hot was a good lunch and the prices were decent. Nothing pains me more than having to leave so,so reviews for a restaurant, especially when you want to love it but can't. We have been to El Rodeo over 15 years since being in Guthrie. The food used to be sooo good . But over the years it has become rather mediocre. The service itself was really good. Our waitress checked up on us and brought our food out quickly. But the food was just not very good. First,the chips were stale. The salsa and queso were not terrible. We ordered envhilafas- they had no flavor. The chicken was and, the refried beans were so pale . The steak and shrimp Ranchero tasted like the shrimp had been recooked many times. It was small and rubbery. The steak was ok. The rest of the plates were pretty much same issue. Bland food that was overpriced. The only thing that saves this business is The staff is super nice and not enough sit down restaurants in town. read more

This place was right in front of my hotel which made it an easy choice to select but I could also tell from the parking lot that it was popular. The service was very prompt and courteous promptly taking my order and checking on me regularly. Chips and salsa with cheese sauce came right out. The cheese sauce was a little runny for my liking but had good taste. The burrito was HUGE! Excellent flavor and taste and temperature was perfect to dive right into as well. We were in the area and our kids wanted Mexican food. We looked up the reviews and thought let's give it a try. All I can say is ughhh Maybe the drinks are goo do t know just had iced tea that tasted awful. Everything was as if they get their food from good value. If I could give 0 stars I would. Went here with my mom and 6 year old tonight 1-5-24. My mom ordered the fajitas like she ALWAYS does. She asked the waitress melissa (which was rude as shit from the beginning btw) to please cook the onions a TINY bit longer to where they were not raw. Finally our food comes out and my moms plate is nothing but burnt black onions and peppers( they also threw the rest of her burnt onions on my plate) my mom never complains and just started eating but when biting into hard DRY steak and chicken she put her fork down and didn't say a word. Melissa comes over and asks if everything's okay and my mom politely asked why the food was burnt and dry. Melissa goes "you asked for it that way" told my mom "give me that I'll take it out of your way" didn't ask to fix it absolutely nothing. She goes I'll take it off your bill. As we go to check out our bill is up at the front with the "manager" and as she was ringing us up we noticed a 5.99 charge and asked what it was. She said because my mom complained about her food that they charged her for the set up. (You only get charged a set up for chips/salsa if you do not order) everyone at the table had a meal. Melissa failed to tell us that she charged 5.99 for something my mom only ate because she had every intention on eating the meal she ordered. Melissa also told the "manager" that my mom said that she'd just eat the set up which NEVER came out of her mouth. We called up there to speak to the owner but yesse refused to put him/her on the phone and repeatedly said that she won't get him involved because he doesn't know what's going on and he doesn't speak English! We absolutely loved el rodeo until tonight! Absolutely terrible service tonight all the way around and the food was horrible! read more

Tiny place right off I-35. We stumbled in after a production shoot in the early afternoon. Chips, queso and salsa were average. Very bland. I know I put 4 stars but it is really a 3 1/2 star place. Just above average. We stopped while passing through town. Great presentation, friendly staff. The salsa tasted like chopped tomatoes with a kick. However the kick was too hot for my Hubby. I did like that they served a simple Queso along with the hot sauce. The missing stars are for the temperature of my chili relleno, The verde salsa was not very warm and they left a lot of the chili seeds in the relleno. I did not finish the relleno because of the seeds. Everything else was good. The Resturant serves beer and margaritas. And I liked the atmosphere. Simple but not run down. I had the Deloera and a strawberry margarita. I must say, those two items were quite tasty, as was the salsa that came before the meal. Unfortunately, the chips were stale, the queso (while free) was lumpy and tasteless. The worst part was the flies! I had to keep batting them away through the entire meal - gross! This is by far the worst Mexican food I have ever had. Senior Lopez is extraordinarily better. BY FAR. Chips taste like Fritos, queso has no taste at all, chicken drier than saw dust, rice tastes like white rice straight from the pot with nothing added. I didn't have a good experience the first time i went YEARS ago but thought maybe it was just a bad day. This time was not a good experience either. The food was horrible. My grandson got the taquitos off the kids menu and they seemed to be frozen store bought and were cooked hard as rocks. The chips were hard, the queso was bland. I won't go back. read more

Dad wanted to go here and I'm glad he did. The beers with fresh lime and salt on edges was a nice touch I had not seen or tasted before.
