We were in Guther yesterday,going to Tipsy Artist, and needed to ear before hand. Found this place here in Yelp. When Kristine said if a cowboy eats here then it's good. It was delicious. Ok. So. The person that talks about the cheese that goes with the chips was right on. It's like watery velveeta. Just not really good. So we wanted to make sure we got something where that cheese sauce was not involved. So, shredded beef flautas. Bland is the best description. Both the meat and the tortilla. The tortilla actually tastes like El Salvadoran tortilla. The beans and rice. Bland. In fact. As I am eating this, it does taste very Salvadoran. The wife had the tortilla soup. Big chunks of chicken. But the broth was likewise bland. So, if you like spicy Mexican, this is not the place unless you ask for special salsa. If you have ulcers and want bland food, score you. It's not horrendous. It's just we are used to Southern California spicy Mexican. read more

Good staff and food can be busy at times depending when you go the special salsa and fajitas are good

We like El Rodeo's. Be sure to ask for the special salsa, but be warned sometimes it can get a little spicy. Our drink of choice is Tecate with salt and lime, but they serve all kinds of stuff. The food is good!! read more

I had the carne asada tacos but they were called something else here. That's just what I've known them as forever ,A traditional corn tortilla with small fajita beef or steak with cilantro & onions. They were very good with a large portion and they paired nicely with the frozen lime rimmed glasses of Tecate. The salsa was average to me but I'm a serious salsa person. They also serve a small cheese dip with their cHips and salsa and it was good. The place is a little old or run down but the food didn't disappoint :) read more

Great service and great food! The chicken tortilla soup was delish, and was a huge bowl for a very reasonable price. My boyfriend got the spinach enchiladas. So much spinach! My cousin got the white queso! So. Good. read more

Even though I arrived close to closing time the staff was very accommodating and kind. Ordered the chicken tacos with rice and beans and it came with delicious sautéed poblanos and onions. Not the same anymore. Food, bad and just plain bland. Empty parking lot is never a good sign. WHAT HAPPENED?

Sort of divey, just off the interstate, tucked away just a little. It was more traditional Mexican food, not as "Americanized". Food was good and prices were decent (most under $10). If I were craving Mexican food and in the area, I would go there again. read more

We hadn't been to El Rodeo for several years but last night decided to go there. Sadly, it's nowhere near as good as it used to be. The salsa was an odd, frothy pink, with no flavor except a bit of heat at the end. Queso was bland. The food took a long time to come out, and while we were waiting we were offered flour tortillas. Although they'd been warmed, they were hard as could be and not edible. One cannot order a margarita there on Sunday, but the oilfield guys behind us had too many beers so their raunchy conversation and constant f-bombing added to the ambience. Husband had a combination dinner and I had the tamale dinner. His food was bland and my tamales were tough and seemed to lack any seasoning. Had to wait for cashier to show up, check her phone, send text messages before we could check out. It was very nice to see several old friends from Guthrie who were dining at El Rodeo. read more

There is zero ambience (kind of depressing actually), the service rude and the food literally cold and of subpar taste. We were skeptical going in and for good reason! Seriously, if you are looking for good Mexican in Guthrie, you're wasting your time. Instead, go to the neighboring city of Edmond and eat at Ted's Cafe Escondido-excellent! read more

Had dinner there for the first time tonight. Salsa tasted like blended canned tomatoes, the queso was canned cheese and not the good canned cheese. Tamales were hamburger and tiny. Just not impressed at all with our dinners. read more

Had dinner there tonight. From KCMO where there is great Mexican food. This place is okay. They give you some mild but very tasty cheese sauce with chips. I got a chicken quesadilla and it was really a soft chicken taco. The place was really busy with locals. read more

From the outside it doesn't look like much but this place is fantastic! It was packed for being 2:00 in the afternoon and I understand why. We were seated quickly, our order was taken fast, the food was served hot. And delicious! The steak was phenomenal! The staff are friendly, the atmosphere was your typical Mexican restaurant.
