Went back home to Lindsay to try this place. Its in an old laundromat building where I would spend my Saturday afternoons with my mom. The food was Excellent the service was fantastic small menu but worth the trip. Had the Molcajete for my wife and myself and still had leftovers. Very nice family owned restaurant. Owner is super nice and social! The corn tortillas were the freshest ever. The beef stew was super, very tender. The dessert cake was great. The carne asada was tough as leather, I could not even cut it with the dull butter knife provided. We ended up eating it by hand like beef jerky. Definitely overcooked. My brother-in-law moved to Scotland 3 years ago. He is from India and loves spicy food and good authentic Mexican food. I asked all my friends for the best Mexican authentic yummy around around and El Sabor de mi Cocina was highly recommended. Let's put it this way, my brother-in-law is willing to fly back from Scotland just to eat at this place again. As much as I loved the food, the fresh tortillas, the amazing roasted hot chile oil and the fresh horchata...Rafael is the best thing about this place!!! He is so humble, kind, and friendly. He was the cook, the waiter, the dish-washer and the greeter and he never complained. Just like the name implies, he wants people to feel like they're coming into his kitchen and he cooks the way his mother taught him to. There were two guys from Italy at the table next to us and I know they did not leave disappointed either! Not only are we coming back here again, I think we are coming back tomorrow with the rest of the family! PS: Rafael has AMAZING vegetarian options! Two of my coworkers from Lindsay showed me this gem during the lunch hour one day and the food is delicious! I've had their corn tortillas so far, which are really good, and their house salsas (pictured below) are totally delicious, but the salsa verde does pack a punch! I love the decor of the restaurant, and the owners are very nice. This is my new go-to spot when I need a place to eat in Lindsay! I'll post more photos each time I eat here. read more

Found this place on Yelp with 4.5 stars, so I had to check it out. Got there late and there were just the owner's family, the couple came out of the kitchen to greet with a huge smile. The interior was clean and inviting. Btw, come earlier. They run out of all the soups, would've loved to try their menudo. Once seated, we were served our drinks, chips and salsa. They even dressed up the salsa with fresh diced tomato and cilantro, unlike more places just serve plain. Then came the fajitas and taco. The fajitas smelled amazing! It was a huge portion, I left with stuff and happy. Forgot to mention the cucumber juice. It was very flavorful, a must order. read more

This place is Amazing!!! We drove in from Visalia and I'm so glad we did. Everything we tried was excellent. I feel that if a restaurant has good rice and beans then pretty much everything else would be delicious. And I was so right! We got the Molcajete, tacos dorados with chicken and papas, and the Birria soup. The portions are excellent, the food is brought out really hot and everything tastes fresh. The salsas are good too, the green was our favorite. We highly recommend trying it out. We will certainly be back. read more

El Sabor de Deliciousness! Came here after reading great reviews and they were 100% accurate. This is a family owned restaurant with lots of love put into every dish. We tried the birria tacos, sopes, and chicken fajitas and everything was fantastic. The chef and his wife are such nice people. Looking for a place after church on Sunday that was open, and stumbled across Taqueria La Fortaleza. When we walked in there was literally a woman making the tortillas fresh right in front of us. The food was made to order, and was very good. My husband got the Quesabirria and while it was messy to eat, he really enjoyed it. The lady at the front counter was very nice and patient with me since I don't speak Spanish. I also ordered some chocolate cake - and while Im pretty sure it's not homemade or anything, it was okay. So thrilled we stopped here for food after a long day in the Sequoia forest. The tortillas are truly really good and clearly freshly made. Tacos were solid (not the best in California, but damn good and hit the spot). Now what absolutely just knocks everything out of the water are their stews and soups. Stopped by before our backpacking trip! This place was called Taqueria La Fortaleza. So we got a little lost until we realized it was renamed hahah. Owner said he's tried to change it but has had no luck. We ordered the carne asada plate and torta. Decided to also grab some choco flan because it looked amazing! Service was super fast. Don't come here, especially if you're hungry. I arrived hungry, they did not provide chips and salsa to us. (Weird because others were provided chips and salsa) but seeing their kids go in the kitchen and cook their food and eat it in front of us ??Overall after all the money I've spent here and after leaving excellent reviews I'm really surprised by the service I recently received. Sad to say we won't be returning here. Had a chili relleno plate and Paid $30 for a molcajete and waited 25 mins for such a small portion of rice and beans it was odd considering we spend over $80 here each visit. Just for their kids to go in the kitchen and cook their food and eat in front of us while we wait for our food while everyone sits and chats we wait... Completely disappointed and will not be back. I spend money where I am treated respectfully and fairly. You won't see me here again. They rip people off here. What a complete shame. No bueno mi gente!!! No bueno. If I could give 0 stars I would!
