The first time I went was because of my comadre and I ordered a soup called 7 mares(i think) but it was not good at all. The other two times I loved it, I obviously didn't order the soup, instead I order the tacos, sopes, and torta. Best meals ever especially because I was with my whole family after a long day and didn't have to get home and cook. The service was the best and the ladies were super nice and patience. I was coming from Los Vegas to Tulare and me and my family went in.This was a random spot that we choose we were so excited to eat! We were starving i understand at restaurant it can take 20-30 min for your food to get here but.The waiter forgot to put in our order.We were getting ready to pay for our drink and leave! We went here specifically for the Molcajete. The outside is a little run dow. We sat down and we're given salsa(spicy) and chips. The Molcajete is served with beans a guacamole, and we opted for the homemade corn tortillas. Overall it was good we were given 3 options for spice and choose mild, which was still very spicy. Should be 0 stars ! I've been coming for about 10 years and seen It decline! The staff is RUDE all of them ! They are never happy to see people even if you tip ! The outside is not something you right home about especially considering the road that leads up to it is so jacked up I feel like I'll need new suspension anytime I step foot in Lindsay. Today was our typical Sunday lunch and we decided to go here for lunch. We were greeted right away and were brought salsa and chips. The salsa had a Smokey taste with a light kick, not bad. Huge selection for a menu typical for any Mexican restaurant. We ordered a shrimp cocktiel, two carne asada plates, and a menudo. Everything came hot and looked like it did in the menu. The carne asada was flavorful, menudo was not bad at all not like my moms, but much more flavor and had lots of meat in there. My sisters shrimp cocktiel had a lot of veggies and shrimp. My uncle brought us here for dinner our family road trip. We arrived and were immediately greeted and sat. The service was good, how ever the food was anything but excellent. My cousins carne plate came accompanied by a live cockroach and my uncles fries had an insect fly fried with the fries. When it was brought to the attention of our waiter and the manager, the entire staff seemed to have discussed the situation and then nothing happened. The food was not remade nor was there any indication that the food had been properly handled. After receiving a "new plate" all they brought was cold fries and steak. We are not from the area and wish this could have been a different type of experience as we do take an annual road trip across the country and enjoy exploring new restaurants. I am surprised to find that their restaurant doesn't cook the food fresh. I have been to many Mexican restaurants and all have fresh meat ready to cook. I ordered the chimichanga and the carne asada tasted frozen, furthermore the plate was extremely hot which shows the food was placed in the microwave for several minutes. When I went to their bathroom, I took a peek in their kitchen and the microwave predominantly next to the door where the food goes out. The only reason I'm giving the restaurant a 2 stars instead of one is due to the fact that their bathrooms are surprisingly very clean. read more

This restaurant was a pleasant find while we were exploring the towns close to Sequoia National Park. We had been going to Sequoia for years, when we decided to explore the neighboring towns and we stopped to eat at El Molcajete #2. This Mexican restaurant's decor is nothing to wow at, but the food was spectacular! They have their most popular items up for everyone to see when you first walk in. The Micheladas are amazing! They serve them in a super cold glass that is big enough to fit at least 2 and a half beers. It comes complete with celery and a couple of shrimp to boot. Since the restaurant is named El Molcajete, we had to try their signature dish, "El Molcajete". For those that don't know, a molcajete is something that is used to make salsa or crush items. It is made out of stone and the center is somewhat like an oversized bowl. They offer single, double or triple molcajetes. We opted for the single molcajete since the serving size looked pretty generous. When the waiter came over with our order, my husband and I just sat back and looked at each other wondering how we were actually going to finish eating such a meal! The molcajete included two large servings of carne asada (steak), two huge servings of marinated grilled chicken, cactus, onions and some shrimp, all in it's own salsa. The dish comes with a side of beans and some guacamole! Oh, and the tortillas! Who could forget the tortillas! They serve hand made corn tortillas that are the size of flour tortillas! After digging in for quite a while, we realized we could not eat all of it and took a little less than half of our dish home. Keep in mind, we just shared one molcajete! Pretty amazing, and all for a great price! Overall, my experience at El Molcajete was amazing. The food was spectacular, the people were super nice and the drinks were great and cold! Ordered the molcajete for 1, hubby and I always share. Fresh homemade tortillas, refried beans, fresh guacamole. The molcajete comes with carne asada, nopales (cooked cactus, acquired taste) grilled chicken, fresh cheese, cilantro, grilled onion, grilled jalapeno pepper, all served on a piping hot rock (hencw the term molcajete) over chili. Its really good and flavorful. You won't see too may "white" people in here, because food is authentic mexican and can be really spicy for some. Service is usually ok, just ok. Worst service ever... Walked in and all they said was to pick a spot to sit but all the tables were dirty. Found a clean table and didn't like the spot as a costumer I can decide were and were I don't want to sit. I decided to ask if I could sit in a different spot but I asked if the table could be cleaned for me as it seem the table had been dirty for a while (was dirty since I had arrived) the girl gave me attitude and said to wait a couple of minutes. 5 minutes passed and still the table was diary. When an employee passed by I asked if he could clean the table and he said if I could wait until he emptied the cart well 5 more minutes passed and the table was still dirty I felt as is I wasn't being taken serious about the table swing dirty. When the employe finally decides to clean the table he asked me to get up and move so he can clean it, that upset me can he just spray the towel and then clean the table? Would like to start by saying that if there was an option, I would have added no star to this review. In addition to this the SERVICE was REALLY BAD. Dirty place, and ripped seats. Didn't even know if we where to be seated since we didn't even see any waiters approaching us, we decided to look for our seats ourselves. We had to wait for a waiter to clean our table. Despite that I was determined to try the "molcajete" since I saw good reviews on this place. Then waited 50mins for our food. When up to the register to ask to speak with the manager apparently the manager is called "Ana Garcia" daughter of the owner. More like a little, youth girl unexperienced with customers who are not happy with their service. She never said I'm sorry for the delay. She did mention everything is being recorded. Like if I care. Oh she did wanted to justified that we where the last ones to order. Which is not true. If she said they where cameras then is recorded the time we enter and the time we order. In addition to this they brought wrong orders to our table and keep on waiting for my husbands plate which never came out. I notice these issues and immediately got up to confront the manager again. And she just respond it by saying "I was about to let you know, but our kitchen is now close, an they said that all the food was brought out to your table" WHICH WAS NOT TRUE. She tried to justified it by making my husbands plate after waiting more than 50mins and not even apologizing. After this I didn't even went back to sit and finished my plate. I am a very respectful person but was very upset with this situation. Conclusion I will defiantly not recommend this place to anyone unless your willing to wait those 50mins.
