A few years back I went on a "search for the best oysters" in Houston and the gulf coast. Over the years, the habit has stuck with me to try the oysters wherever I go - when I'm by the water and the month is right.
This little sit-down oyster bar (which sits in a "so tiny, you could miss it" restaurant space / next to-overlooking the boqueria food market) tops my list now.
Super fresh decent-sized (with just the right amount of meat - not as big as meaty gulf ones, more meaty than baby northeastern ones) oysters served on ice w/ mignonette, lemon & your choice of hot sauce (go w/ the spicier Goya over the Tabasco) are incredibly fresh and packed w/ Fla or even if u like yours w/nothing on them.
Doesn't hurt that it's combined with great, friendly service & reasonable prices. 9 euros for 3 oysters, a good glass of white wine, bread & butter.
BOTTOM LINE: some of the freshest, best oysters going in town (& anywhere) served with Catalayun friendliness--& one of the best deals going in town too. read more
