Saturday afternoon visit, the food was enjoyable overall. The nachos could have come with more guacamole and the cheese tasted very processed. The al pastor and carne asada tacos were good. The salsa bar makes it easy to choose from the various salsa options. The service was fine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was not busy inside, many customers like myself got their food as takeout.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Pay attention or you'll drive right by the location. It's located in a small strip mall - smallish parking lot where the asphalt is torn up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Solid fully stocked salsa/sauce and toppings bar with five different sauces. I had the California burrito - they give you your choice of meat and cheese (nacho or shredded mozzarella) which is atypical from my past experiences ordering a California burrito at other establishments.

Let favorite place for tacos in the valley. Usually takes about 15-20 mins to get your order, but is always hot and fresh. They have a salad bar with all the good toppings and sauces on front where you order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is always playing good music, and had a non and pop feel to it with a fair amount of seating and booths.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking into this restaurant, my first impression was positive--the place is spotless, and the staff is warm and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a well-maintained salad bar for salsa and condiments, all neatly covered with lids, and even the restrooms were exceptionally clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Given the glowing reviews, I had high expectations, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to them. My mother and daughter ordered the menudo, and both found it lacking in flavor. The carne asada torta was just okay--my husband noted that the meat was well-seasoned, but overall, it wasn't his favorite. The birria was generously packed with meat and stood out as the best dish we tried, but even then, it wasn't the best we've had. Would I return? Probably not. We sampled a variety of menu items, and none of them impressed us enough to justify the trip, especially since this spot is a bit out of the way. I don't mind driving for great food, but this one didn't make the cut. If you're in the area, it might be worth a try, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. While the cleanliness and friendly service were definite highlights, the food itself was a solid 3/5 at best. Note: the salsas were a disappointment The guacamole has no flavor and one the salsas was very tangy

Big fan of the burros here. The birria one is fire. The quesabirria is also good, but I would say their specialties are burros, and maybe the vampiros too. They have cheap asada and al pastor tacos on Tuesday and Thursday as well! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is always clean and the staff are always friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will definitely keep coming back. Bring cash if you want to avoid a credit card up charge.

There's a reason why this relatively nondescript looking Taqueria in North Phoenix is so popular. The food is really good, and you get a wide variety of choices. They have a good assortment of beverages, including one of the best horchata I've ever had. There's really good salsa bar, and you get a free cup of delicious frijoles if your order is over $10. Service is very friendly, and the prices are really good, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food.

Every time I come here it gets more packed, which is both annoying and completely understandable because the food is ridiculously good. The tacos are fantastic, the fries are life-changing, and the hongos fries specifically deserve their own national holiday. This place made the Top 100 food spots in America list, and honestly? Deserved. It's the best taco spot in the country in my opinion and makes places like Torchy's feel like they're competing in junior varsity. The vibe is also way above average for a taco joint; lively, clean, and full of people who look like they just took their first bite and immediately started planning their next visit. The taco crew is always friendly too, even while dealing with lines longer than a DMV on a Monday. If you don't know what to order, here's the move: Get one taco or an especial if you're a cheese enthusiast, a medium fry with your topping of choice, and guac with chips. That's the kind of meal that makes you sit in your car afterward thinking about your life choices in a positive way. Enjoy. And maybe stretch beforehand because you're going to want to fight someone over the last hongos fry.

After you order, the cashier hands you a thermal paper receipt. You then take that receipt to the person making the tacos, who takes it with the same gloved hands they'll use to prepare your food. They handle receipt after receipt from every customer and then continue assembling tacos without changing gloves or washing their hands. As someone who pays attention to food safety and hygiene, this was pretty off-putting. Gloves only help if they're changed after touching non-food items. It would be much more sanitary if the order were displayed on a screen, called out verbally, or if employees changed gloves after handling receipts before preparing food. The tacos are excellent, but I hope they improve this part of their food-handling process because it's an easy fix that would make the overall experience much better.

I recommend the asada, the hazz, the Lorenza, and anything with the beans. Order at the counter, they'll call your name when your order is ready, and the seating is casual and open. They have a selection of aguas frescos, but I usually like a classic bottled coke for the perfect beverage pairing.

This location is a standalone with a decent patio. Parking is minimal but seemed like there were enough people coming and going. I got a spot right away. Note when leaving you'll have to go right - heading North on 43rd. The staff here were really nice! It was very busy and after ordering, I was standing with others waiting for my food when the other cashier called me up to check on me, thinking I hadn't figured out the process. He was very nice! The place was packed people finished quickly so getting a table wasn't hard. They also had someone cleaning up tables quickly. I got a carne asada caramelito and a carne asada taco. The caramelito continues to be my favorite of the two. Love the roasted salsa on the salsa bar though the hot red one is really good too! I do wish their guac salsa had more tang and salt. I find it bland. These are among my fave tacos but not my absolute so thus the 4 stars.

Sometimes the best meals happen because your original plan falls through. That was exactly the case…read morehere, and honestly... I'm not even a little mad about it. I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.
