Recently stumbled upon place while I was up late and feeling like I wanted to big back it. Called them up at a little before 10pm and they still picked up right away and confirmed they can still prepare orders. I ordered their carne asada burrito with beans, cilantro, and cheese. Once I arrived, I found it to be a hole in the wall place which got me excited bc iykyk. Service was prompt and friendly. They gave me two ziploc bags full of salsa verde and salsa roja (very generous portions compared to other places that give you 1 dinky to go cup of each). The burrito itself is huge and they do NOT skimp out on the meat. My only knock on it is that I wish it was a tad bit less salty. I felt my BP going up during the meal xD. After my first experience, I explored their website and reviewed their weekend menu which offers barbacoa on Saturdays and carnitas on Sundays. I love both so I ended up swinging by the following Sunday to order a lb of their carnitas to try. I forgot to request tortillas and other sides. I had flour tortillas at home but I do not prefer them for tacos, just quesadillas. The carnitas were seasoned decently, was fatty as expected with carnitas, but I wish it was a bit more tender. Food was okay- I think salty without a good component of spices. Tortillas seemed to be made in house which was nice but very dry. Never tried a huarache, so I tried the costillo but it's crazy hard to cut and crazy chewy. Service from the aunty was nice, but we had to call them out from the back (the mid afternoon time we went, it was one chef aunty and the cashier aunty in the back). They don't have AC but they have fans everywhere. My husband wanted the food to go but I insisted we dine in. It was not that bad with the fans on. If it were in the middle of the day for lunch in summer, I would only do pick up but it was not that hot out when we went. A surprising thing for Phoenix. Anyway, give them a try. I've eaten at this spot before due to its convenient location to my house. I had tacos which were ok, but I didn't like the corn tortillas. My boyfriend had the quesadilla which looked delicious and tasted delicious! Salsa was good too. You do have to pay for chips which is unfortunate but understandable, and they were not the best chips (best chips in Phoenix: Burrito House) So fast forward to today, my sister got food there this morning. I wasn't quite in the mood for lunch yet so I ordered their breakfast option of eggs and bacon. The photo says it all. This meal was so unbelievably unappetizing, and that's without taking a single bite. My sister also asked for flour tortillas and was given corn. The eggs are scrambled (which wasn't stated on the menu) with the bacon inside it. And it isn't crispy crunchy bacon; it's fatty nauseating bacon that I don't even know if is cooked. Additionally, there are beans on the side that don't even look like beans and a small portion of rice that looks bland. I would say my dog will be eating good this morning, but I don't even know if I want my dog eating this. You can order it by the taco (they are like half a pound each, so like five or six make a good breakfast), by the pound, or as a soup. Make sure to get some of the barbacoa broth (impress your friends by knowing that it's called consomme) to eat alongside your barbacoa tacos.
