My experience at this place was terrible. I ordered barbacoa by phone and asked how much it cost per pound. They told me $13.99 and that it came with onions, cilantro, and tortillas, so I ordered two pounds. When I opened the containers when I got home, wow, I was shocked to find they had only put half a pound in each one. I called back, very upset, and they told me that what I received was the barbacoa plate and that they don't sell barbacoa by the pound. I was confused because when I called earlier they told me it was by the pound. If they gave me the plate why didn't they include rice and beans it supposedly included? I asked, and they couldn't answer. I asked to speak to the manager, and he told me the same thing. He didn't resolve the problem; he was extremely rude and wanted me to bring the food to him so he could supposedly see it to confirm. It was just a waste of time since I don't live near there, and I had a dinner to serve to my guests. The barbacoa wasn't good, and paying $28 plus tax for a pound of barbacoa was a huge undertaking. I'll never go back to that place ever again.

Food was soooo good . 10/10. Definitely recommend the chorizo breakfast quesadilla. Salsa and green salsa were the perfect heat and very good flavor to it. Pancakes were cooked good as well. Restaurant was clean and service was good and fast! The paintings were so beautiful. I recommend this place for breakfast or lunch or dinner.

Very high hopes for this place due to what I've heard from co-workers. Ehhh, not so much. Both servers we had seemed very quiet and timid and maybe unsure of the expectations of waitressing...we had to ask for chips and salsa (also ordered queso) and this was after she had taken our drink order and delivered them and after we had placed our lunch order. Chips and salsa should be the first thing you do. I ordered two beef enchiladas with a chicken taquito. Hubby ordered a fajita steak quesadilla (no surprise here...that's his normal) along with an order of cheese fries, and daughter ordered the tacos on flour tortillas (I know, I know...she should have kept them on corn). Chips were warm and fresh when delivered...all they needed was a heavy sprinkling of salt. Salsa had a dark flavor, almost burnt or over cooked. Queso was very thin and flavorless...not sure if they thin it down so much because they offer it free during the week and probably go through lots of queso. The beef in the tacos and enchiladas was the same...something ground and then mixed with tiny pieces of sautéed onion, green peppers, and potatoes. Not much flavor. Beans and rice were very 101 and not that great. Redeeming quality: tortillas were homemade and fresh and chicken flauta was crispy on the outside and flavorful and juicy on the inside. Quesadilla did NOT have fajita steak...more like roast type meat with big hunks of fat and gristle. Very little cheese...no cheese pull at all. Cheese fries were of the frozen variety with that same thinned down queso. Only thing that gave them two stars instead of one star...homemade tortillas, chicken flauta, and fresh chips. IF we return, will probably have a flauta meal and possibly try an order of beef fajitas.

Flauta plate. Tried a cheesy enchilada...thumbs up folks.

In Huntsville today and came into El Tapatio! Food was great, service was excellent and the restaurant was clean as usual. Some items prices have been adjusted as most other restaurants but I find them to still have extraordinary value for the quality of food and what you get. The warm salsa was accompanied by chilled green sauce and a side of queso. I had Melon Fresca and the picadillo beef enchilada with the crispiest flauta I've ever had. I saw a couple of poor reviews but I can tell you as far as I can see they are working hard and doi a great job!

They aren't that friendly, or they just don't like to talk except to take the order but the food is absolutely delicious!

I got the strawberry and mango and he got the midori and blue curacao. The chips and salsa are different because it is a warm salsa as in temperature not spice. It's so good and reminds me of my uncles salsa he would make growing up. Next came the food. I got beef stuffed avocado, cheese enchilada and beef crispy taco. Holy cow the avocado was huge. It was stuffed with beef fajita meat and was absolutely delish. I love their enchiladas and their tacos as well. The crispy taco is freshly fried which gives it a whole different flavor. My son got the beef fajita meat burrito. It was fried like a chimi and covered in queso and it was amazing as well. He said he can't wait to go back and try the fajitas. Service was great as usual and we were able to carry on a conversation because it wasn't loud at all although it was packed. See ya next time!

Their salsa was a little spicy but still very good. I had the chicken tacos with cheese over them and they tasted great! The service was good, the food came quickly and I was very full when I left. I did find it kind of curious that their menu was the exact same menu that they have at el Tapatio #2. Maybe they are both owned by the same person? Either way they are both good.

We were greeted by the staff when we walked in. They were very friendly and gave me some time to look over their menu. For all the people that no habla English, they are proficient in espanol. They brought out some chips and hot sauce like other restaurants do, but they also had a salsa verde and another one that tasted like habanero salsa. Wow!! The habanero was our favorite. I ordered the Birria tacos (of course) and my friend ordered the steak Street tacos. I am allergic to cilantro so we asked to leave it off so I could try her tacos. Everything came out hot and delicious. The street tacos were very good. The Birria tacos were not like the ones I was expecting. Everyone has their own take on them. These had a meat like a chuck roast and the consume was very tasty. They also had Mexican cheese that was melted nicely. The corn tortillas had been dipped in the consume, but they were not fried until they were crunchy. I was disappointed at first, but all the flavors meshed together nicely in my mouth. By the time we had finished and paid out, this place was starting to get packed. They have three small rooms and a patio outside. Next time we will definitely sit outside.

We'd made a reservation but our table wasn't ready and I had to assemble it while we waited. The chips and sauce so that they give you at the table are tasty. Let's face it is hard to mess that up. I could run through all the things we ordered but I will say that in general it was a combination of fajitas tortillas and enchiladas. Everyone really enjoyed their food. One downside was the service. Everyone was very friendly but it seemed like everyone helping us was brand new and trying to figure things out as they went. I think they were doing the best they could. Also, all our sides and related dishes didn't come out with the main entree. So for example someone who got fajitas would get the sizzling hot fajita platter but then not get the tortilla and fixings until about 5 minutes later.
