The fajitas were flavorless(even my date used salt n pepper and she never uses s n p), the queso was thin and ok but nothing special and a small is the same size as a free salsa which btw had a pungent citrus (lime)taste(I didn't care for it). the rice and beans were not very good and the menus were filthy I ask for a napkin so I could wipe it down while the staff watched. I put my empty drink on the edge of the table hoping someone would bring me a refill but that never happened. lots of better places to eat. read more

In Huntsville due to vehicle issues. Stayed next door from the restaurant. We are from Houston and there is not a restaurant that even comes close to Papa Lacho's. The staff is top notch, service excellent. The owner is out on the floor and working along side his people. But when it comes to the food nothing in Houston compares to this restaurant. Food is authentic. And not bland tex-mex for the pallet. This is going to be a once a month on a weekend trip for awesome food and great Mango Margarita and skinny mezcal margaritas. We have wanted to try this restaurant since moving to Huntsville several months ago as i am a big fan of texmex and I need to find a good restaurant in the area to frequent. The restaurant ambiance is very nice and appears very clean and inviting. We were seated right away and our friendly waitress attended to us quickly. Complimentary chips and salsa were good with green and red salsa both tasty. I had the El Tejano combo meal and my wife chose the seafood enchiladas (shrimp and crawfish). My El Tejano had beef fajitas with a cheese enchilada and a ground beef crispy taco with rice and beans. The fajitas were delicious, the enchilada was good, the taco was a bit soft but tasty. Rice and refried beans were acceptable. My wife's seafood enchiladas had an odd flavor perhaps overcooked crawfish? At any rate it was an enjoyable meal and I will return again. 4 stars, why? Craving some Tex-Mex food? Look no further, Papa Lachos is a new restaurant in Huntsville. They have great deals on margaritas (happy hour anyone?) and are conveniently located right of I-45. Pros Customer service: Very friendly and quick! It took 30 seconds from us entering the restaurant to sitting down at a table. Our waiter wasted no time taking our drink order and bringing that delicious white queso. Edgar was diligent, funny and on top of his game. Food: This place used to be "Mama Juanita's" but was bought out by Papa Lachos very recently. So this was a new place to try and they did not fail. I ordered the beef fijitas (super tender and seasoned just right). Enchiladas Mexicana and Birria tacos were delicious. Location: I love that it's right off the feeder of I-45. You can whip in for a quick lunch or dinner and get back on the road. Cons Lighting: I know they're new and getting this adjusted as they go but the lighting in this place almost makes you want to go to sleep after you eat lol. It was a little hard to see the menu with all the neon lights. I would recommend installing a handful of recess or can lights and it'll make the world of difference. Order beef quesadillas to go service was fast but food was absolutely terrible. Would've been better off going to Taco Bell and it would've been cheaper. Had very little meat for 20 and it just tasted funny it was not good what so ever. And the music was blarring could barely here the hostes. read more

I tried to eat here on New Year's Day, they were not very busy at all, but it took almost 5 minutes just for someone to notice that we were waiting at the door to be seated. There was only one other table in our section with people sitting at it, the rest of that section was completely empty and it still took a ridiculously long time for someone to get our drink orders. After they took our drink orders we sat there waiting for another 5 minutes to get our drinks before we decided to just leave. Never have I been charged 20% extra for my family of 6 people. My fajitas were labeled as well done, and I never asked for them to be cooked to a char. The table side guacamole was great though! We couldn't ask for anything more from him! The food was really good and served so quickly that we didn't even finish our queso before it came out, which by the way I highly recommend!! We didn't have to wait to be seated. The waiter was attentive enough. I ordered the Fish Vallarta and shrimp with vegetables with a mushroom cream sauce. It was delicious and I am not ashamed to say that I cleaned my plate off! My husband had the stuff pepper and enjoyed his meal as well. We had a variety of dishes, tamales, tacos, tortilla soup, Supreme Salad, and we found all very bland. There was no hint of cumin or garlic or tang from peppers. The WORST tortilla soup ever. Wait staff was friendly and attentive and if the food was up to his standard, the food would be superb. They need some serious help in the kitchen and recipes. The chips were great. Idk who is giving this place positive reviews but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The food is like Midwest Mexican food.. trash. The service is crap, there's one waiter that's actually helpful and nice but unfortunately he's not ours. The drinks are weak, you can't taste any of the tequila in a margarita and the bartender tried telling us (in a condescending way) it's bc there is no sweet and sour mix in the margarita.. as if we don't know sweet and sour is a virgin mixer. Make it make sense? And also said she gave us a shot of the premium tequila (that we ordered) and house tequila in our margarita.. so either someone is watering down the tequila behind the bar or she has zero idea what she talking about.. and if she was going to give us extra tequila, why not extra of the tequila we specifically ordered, why "hook us up" with the house tequila? Let me start by saying, I am not one to complain in a restaurant normally however, we drove an hour & 45 minutes to get to this restaurant on a Wednesday at 8 pm to meet someone from Houston for dinner. When we arrived the restaurant was 98% empty. This should have been my 1st red flag. We waited more than 10 minutes for one of the un-busy employees who walked all around us without eye contact to seat us at a table for 5; 3 adults and 2 children. The server was prompt to take our drink orders and delivered fairly quickly. It went downhill from there. He took our initial order for a queso blanco appetizer and 2 child plates of mac n cheese. When he brought the queso, it was watery with hard lumps of cheese in it as if it had been warmed in a microwave. He then came and took our dinner order. We chose the street tacos to share. He never asked if we wanted corn or flour tortillas, or if we preferred charro or refried beans, and when he delivered the food, it too seemed as if it had been warmed in the microwave. The al pastor tacos were more like carnitas with a large amount of fat. The 3rd adult ordered a "build your own" plate. Again, no question about the preference for beans. Her food was mediocre at best. We never saw our unbusy server again after the food was delivered. We ran out of drinks, I had to take a child's cup to a different server at the bar to get it refilled. Our plates were never removed and the table remained full of dirty dishes until we left. I had to get up from the table and walk to the bar to get my check. Did I mention how un-busy the place was? There was no lack of servers and there were 3 of them standing around chatting and checking their phones at the bar. I wouldn't complain about the price had the food been good and fresh. It was neither. Sadly, we will not be back and I drive through Huntsville at least once a week. read more
