Visited twice first time was really good. Second time not so great. Food was rushed and tastes that way. Service was almost non existent. Server pretty much avoided me. We didn't stay too long since their AC wasn't working properly but they did have fans set up all over the restaurant. We did try the chicken wings, and they were amazing! My boyfriend and I went to El TPatio's on a Friday night after work for a meal and drinks. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy, but we were fine with waiting. However, we noticed that several other customers who came in after us received their food before we did. This didn't bother us at first since we were enjoying our drinks. We ordered buffalo wings and two entrees. When the wings arrived, they were excessively wet and saucy. We waited for our waitress to check on us, but she never returned. Meanwhile, all the surrounding tables, occupied by white customers, were receiving service, but we waited for over 15 minutes without any attention. When our entrees arrived, the waitress still hadn't come back to check in. At this point, I had to go ask the staff to remake the wings. The manager initially argued about the wings, but I explained that we'd been waiting for our waitress and that everyone around us had been helped except us. She eventually agreed to remake the wings, but by then, the experience had already left a bad taste. I didn't even feel like eating the food anymore. I asked for a to-go box, paid the bill, and left. The lack of attention and respect was overwhelming. No one checked in on us or asked if we needed anything throughout the meal. I've been here before, but after this experience, I will not be returning. read more

My wife and I had a very nice early dinner, service was excellent. Chips and salsa was good and my meal with a side of a hotter salsa and it had a nice flavor and nice amount of heat was excellent, my wife enjoyed her meal as well and the portions are nice. I do recommend them. read more

Great Mexican food. One of the best in the area. The service though was a bit slow. We saw two couples get up and leave after waiting for their food. Especially an elderly couple. They forgot their food to go and got up to leave. Sadly I think they were so upset, the woman forgot her purse!! The food was delish, exactly what I was hoping for in Mexican cuisine. The staff worked well together and was very attentive without being overbearing. I was at a conference in Rocky Mount the first week of August and this restaurant was within walking distance of my hotel. This place may not look like much from the exterior; don't let that scare you off- this was some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. The food was so good I came here for more than one of my dinners while I was in the area. El Tapatio has what I would rate as the best seafood enchiladas on the East Coast. The refried beans were also super authentic and you could tell they did not come from a can. On top of the great food, the staff is very friendly and service is fast. I highly recommend El Tapatio if you are in the Rocky Mount, MC area and are in the mood for some great Mexican eats! read more

Cold and nasty, too many cooked (burnt) onions in my shrimp tacos. My orange queso was sweet and look orange. Also it had hair in it. The lettuce was old. It was not worth 13.00 The only thing good was the sour cream. I could not eat it was just disgusting. I love the El tap in Wilson. So that's why I decided to stop by and try it. They have drive thru service with no drive thru menu. So you just pull up and wait. Very bad read more

I've tried a few Mexican restaurants in Rocky Mount and always find myself back at El Tapatio. I get takeout at least 2x a month and love that they have a drive thru for pickup. My boyfriend and I love their chicken quesadillas, these I highly recommend. I also really like the enchilada trio w the 3 different sauces. Just had a late dinner at El Tapatio. We were passing thru Rocky Mount while traveling and depended on Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. Started with a House Margarita for me and a Mojito for my husband. Both were excellent choices. Food was prepared too far in advance, It was old, cold, and dry. Literally every single thing we tried except the refried beans was awful. The fried food tasted like it had been cooked in heavily reused oil. Service was non existent. We had to ask multiple times for everything, even silverware and napkins. If this is the El Tap that was just built near bojangles and the speedway gas station, I was picking my food up in the drive thru yesterday night and noticed how one of the employees stuck her bare hands in a machine of tortilla chips without gloves or a untensil and placed some chips on a customers plate of guacamole and walked it out on the floor to the paying customer that was dining in here . I then noticed a lady walk behind her to put some chips in a bowl and she used a utensil for the chips . I was completely stunned and immediately asked to speak to a manager who after speaking with for 10 seconds noticed that he was a complete ass . I informed him of what I saw and he told me that all his employees have clean hands and he Also said to me he didn't know why I have a problem with it because when I cook for myself i probably touch my food as well with my bare hands . Which I then had to check him about. He then told me to cancel my order and order from somewhere else . I will never be eating from this restaurant and hope everyone is watching when other people are handling their food . read more
