Restaurant is actually pretty clean inside. I don't remember the bathrooms bein bad, so that's probly a good sign. If they were gross it'd stick in my head for sure. There's this big fake tree in the middle of the dining area, all lit up with little lights--kinda gives the place a nice warm vibe. I'll give em credit for atmosphere, they nailed that part. Service has always been decent. Staff greets you when you walk in, checks in without being too pushy, and they usually get the food out in a fair amount of time. So no issues there... As for the food... it's okay. Nothin really blew me away, but nothin was terrible either. I've had a few dishes, tacos, enchiladas, even tried some of the seafood once. It all tasted fine, just not super memorable for me. Again... that's probly just my own taste buds bein picky. If I had to give a straight up yes or no on whether I'd recommend it... I'd say it's a solid maybe. Not gonna beg people to check it out, but if someone said "Hey let's go to El Tarasco," I wouldn't argue either. I had to dust off my Yelp app and reinstall it just to share this experience, and I wish I didn't have to! This Mexican restaurant was an absolute disappointment from start to finish. First off, the service was horrendous. It felt like we were an afterthought instead of valued customers. Even the table next to us got fed up after waiting 15 minutes for the server to pick up their credit card to pay the bill. They finally got up and took it to the bar to pay themselves! I ordered chicken fajitas, and what a letdown they were! The vegetables looked very old and limp, and the platter was supposed to be served sizzling--definitely not the case here. Instead, it arrived looking like a wet muddy mess with tiny bits of dried chicken that resembled leftovers from yesterday. My wife ordered the beef plate, and it tasted a bit fishy, like they might be using the same grill for both beef and fish without properly cleaning it. To make matters worse, they seemed more focused on selling you an average-at-best $15 margarita than providing quality food. As a table of five, we were only served a small basket of chips, and they wanted to charge $4.00 for an extra basket. On top of that, a dab of sour cream was an additional $2.00, and a tablespoon of cheese to top off your refried beans was another $2.00! Constant upcharges are a complete turnoff for your dining experience, especially when they are for basic topping or condiments traditionally served at a Mexican restaurant. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, the manager even argued with me about taking the fajitas off my bill, despite the fact that I only had a small bite of the wet muddy mess. I told her the cook should be embarrassed for serving such a dish. The prices here are sky-high for such low quality and a miserable experience. Save your money and your time--this place is not worth it! Only 3 positives worth mentioning: the hostess was great, the corn tortillas as well, and no up charge to refill your water. read more

Being a regular at any great restaurant has its advantages for both the restaurant and the customer. Being a regular at a restaurant enables one to know when something is off and it's probably just a bad day. For whatever reason. So hearing from a customer when something is wrong is better than hearing it from someone that rarely comes to eat there and might never come back because of a bad experience. For me personally. El Tarasco flat out has the best Mexican food in town. I've seen criticism on other platforms about different things. From service to the food. I myself have had experiences with pretty bad service while eating here. But El Tarasco always seems to get it together. I've been pretty hard on them in some of reviews. Some of it was well deserved. I have even stayed away and taken my business elsewhere for a while. But I always come back to see how things are and they usually step up. So today after a long drive we came in for lunch and our server was Alma. She has been our server many times and really is the best. She knows what you like to drink and remembers who you are. I find that to be an amazing thing these days. She also knows when she hasn't seen you in a while. She's very nice and is an example of how a server should be. My wife had the chili verde plate and I had the shrimp tacos. Both come with rice and beans. For drinks the wife had a cucumber margarita and I had a large mug of Modelo. I do think they could use a couple more TV's given it's the bar area. Our server was nice and attentive. I ordered the trio fajitas (chicken, shrimp, steak) with a side of house made corn tortillas which were very good. My only complaint was don't serve unpeeled shrimp in your trio! We used to love El Tarasco but the prices have gotten insane and the service doesn't match. Today we ordered 2 breakfast burritos to go. They had eggs, beans, potato, cheese and chorizo. We asked for salsa on the side, they only include 1 small portion, should be 1 for each burrito. The total was $40???!! I couldn't believe this. No inflation can justify this-the ingredients to make this burrito would not come close to this cost. It feels like a total rip off. Sadly I don't think we will be returning. read more

I've got a food allergy and their servers always remember to modify my food order. The family behind this business has such a genuine love for what they do.
