If you are in the mood for old school packed greasy tacos the way they should be made stop by.. they did not disappoint. We ordered: asada, carnitas and buche tacos. Went in bought 3 asada tacos. The weird guy was just staring at me chopping up meat no one was at the register 5 mins later the woman comes from the back. Asks what I want I told her. Then finally my tacos are done. And to my surprise the tacos that were supposed to be asada are pork tacos and there was no napkins no salsa no chile no rabano nothing else. I'm not from this area but have been visiting friends and family often for the last 2 years. Our regular spot was closed and this place was bumpin. The set up here is interesting because I was not sure where to get in line to order. There are no prices so I took pictures of my receipt. I was a little excited because it smells like a king taco when you enter:). There is a large selection of meat choices and it seasoned and cooked well. It's a little pricey but they do not skimp on portions,so good for sharing a variety of items. FYI There is no salsa in the cold type, and I asked for consume with my birria which I didn't get. I did get a lot of lemon which was not asked for but nice. Birria tacos were soggy but I think cause they made them first and then covered them with foil(I still ate them and they had great flavor). Got the asada fries they were a little soft(I should have asked for well done) but they were so good. My husband got an all meat burrito and it was ALL meat, good size also. I was a little turned off by seeing my Chile relleno come out of a microwave bag but it was actually pretty delicious! We would definitely go back and try something else. Poor service, Tres Agaves or Sergio's in Coalinga are ten times better and cleaner. Service depends on who is working, some are pleasant and others not so much. Older lady that works in the evening is rude and some of the guys chopping the meat are as well. I went in one day and ordered a small side of rice and beans, something the girl at the register could have easily grabbed after I paid; instead I stood there waiting for 30 minutes for rice and beans. It was that I day I decided never to go back. It's not worth the food poisoning I've had (be careful with the carnitas), burnt crumbs of asada or the poor service. This place when officially opened. The meat and ingredients were good and flavorful. Made to order and the cooking area was cleaned and not mixed with other meats. Well now it's gone down hill. The flavors are not really there also I seen pieces of meat mixed with other meats as if they were using the same knife to cut everything and using a spoon for everything and some rice In the pan that was accidentally dropped into. I'm still in the search for the best burrito in California. And what I mean by best, I measure by taste, cost and customer service. And this time, I decided to try a place called Tacos y Tortas Chalio 3 in Hanford, California. I have to say that when I went around 11:30 a.m., the place already had a line but they had all the meat prepared and the line did not last long at all, as the employees were quick to serve their customers. One thing that is important to mention is that you will see a lot of people standing, but some are just waiting for the food. Ask the person in front if they are in line and if not, walk ahead towards the register. This is important because I have been to places where I had to wait more than half an hour for food and I understand that things get busy but there should never be a long wait if the restaurant is prepared for a rush. Tacos y Tortas Chalio 3 were prepared and I got my food after five minutes of waiting. So, that's a plus. The restaurant had a good number of indoor and outdoor seating which is another plus and I could tell the place is no doubt a popular destination and I had to see experience it for myself of why the place was popular. And for those who live in California, you hear stories of Mexican restaurants that give you a lot more for your money. You hear stories of super heavy burritos for a great price. In my top 3 for heaviest burrito I have ever ate for under $8, Tacos y Tortas Chalio 3 now is part of that top 3 listing. The burrito is HEAVY and larger than other burritos from Mexican restaurants I have been to in the area. I decided to try a Burrito Supreme with chorizo. They really put a lot of beans, rice and meat and a lot of sour cream and cheese and it was delicious! Problem is that after I opened up the burrito to take a picture, the burrito was a bit difficult to hold because it was so heavy, so I had to eat it with fork and spoon. But that was because I opened it. But I must say, I was not expecting to find a burrito this big and heavy and less than $8. That's pretty awesome! The carne asada taco was also delicious and the meat was well cooked and actually one of better tacos I've tasted in the area. Overall, if you are in the Central California area, especially in Hanford, California and are hungry and want Mexican food, definitely give Tacos y Tortas Chalio 3! If I could give zero stars I would. Here's one star for the idea of being 24/7 for those late night munchies. We ordered our food from one rude lady and there was only one prep guy cutting up the meat for the tacos. Poor guy was sweating and struggling to keep up with the orders. We waited over 45 minutes for our food. There were also people waiting prior to us ordering also. People started asking for their food then shortly after, for refunds. We asked for ours and the lady initially said she couldn't refund us because we didn't pay cash. Then she said she couldn't understand us and kept shaking her head and saying "no, no." Once she called someone over the phone named "Pollo" she handed the phone to us and we explained what was going on to him, then he explained it to her, then she was able to refund us our money cash only instead of going back to our card. Highly recommend this place im staying in the inn down the street and it's been my go to spot for the past three nights. Tacos are fresh made to order,the sauce hits and the people have one of the best customer service skills around the area. The drinks hit the spot perfect asked for half horchata and freza , and they did it right. If you need some late night tacos or even trying to get up in some protein they sell side orders. This was my boyfriend and mine first time here and we both thought the food was really good! If you're in a hurry I would advise to place your order in advance, if not than you're going to wait a little bit. There was a family of five before us and about four workers working and it took a minute to get the food out but once we got it, it was definitely worth it! You go up to the counter and they make your food right in front of you. There was a little language barrier but it wasn't too bad! My boyfriend got the carnitas burrito and I got the asada burrito and it was bomb!! So much flavor and the burritos are huge! Order the large if you're really hungry, the price was super reasonable also, I think we spent like $6.50 per burrito! They load up on the meat in your burrito, which lets all agree, that's always nice haha. We also got a few tacos that were amazing and priced good as well! The only thing that I didn't like was I noticed the employees handling the food , don't wear gloves. So that could be a little sketchy haha, also the salsa bar doesn't have any salsa in it which I thought was weird haha. I like the grab n go canteen style set up. It let's the customer focus on the goodness to come and what to expect. Another bonus is I noticed on their menu that they sell meats by the pound. A couple pounds of tripas anyone? I ordered four tacos (lengua, asada, carnitas, and tripas). All the meats were rich in flavor. Tender. The tripas was crunchy and not too salty. This was the ultimate test. The only thing preventing me from giving this place a 5 star is the absence of beer. If I can give this place no stars I would. I have been here before and they were always ok tacos. I went in today and they had a line which is normal since it's Saturday. I waited almost 30 minutes to receive horrible tacos. When I say horrible I mean it, I have never in my life thrown tacos away but today I did. They tasted like burt oil, I do not know if they use old oil to cook their meat but that's what it tasted like. Not a bad little spot. The cashier was very friendly and helpful when I asked where the Jarritos sodas were. She even suggested a flavor. Service was as quick as I would expect with a line as long as it was (practically out the door). They take cash, card, and Apple pay (I think I saw Samsung pay decal on the machine too). I ordered 3 carnitas tacos. They were a good size and were enough to satiate my appetite. Lots of meat and the vegetables were fresh. Their red salsa has a nice kick to it but it's a sort of slow kick that you don't notice right away. The carnitas was well flavored and was juicy even at 11pm. Restaurant was clean enough. My only concern was cooks going back and forth between the meat station and the veg station without using gloves or washing. They used tongs to handle the meat so I'm sure it's all good.
