Left the cruise ship and decided to skip town and head to El Tecolote Restaurant & Bar Beach Club. This is a great beach if you like out of the way. Two or three restaurants are on the beach, but this restaurant was the biggest and most busy. Lots of locals and Mexican tourists. You follow the locals! The food was so fantastic. Staff really fun and happy. You cannot beat the amazing view of the sea and the clear water slowly turning all kinds of shades of blue as it gets deeper. This is a very shallow beach. You can walk half a block and be up to your waist. The octopus was amazing, the tostada El Tecolote was amazing. Looked beautiful, too. They played sappy American country western music, which they probably don't know all the lyrics to, so this made it even that much more campy and fun. Would absolutely recommend.

The service was not friendly but prompt , but the food was amazing and the place was chill. Got to go back in hotel wearher
The best part of this restaurant is the fact that we were able to dine on the actual beach! Our meal with that amazing view made it very memorable! We ordered the Mariscada a la Baja, which was basically different varieties of ceviche- all "cooked" in lime. The fact that it's all made to order, means that the "cook" time is very short so it all basically still looks raw. We added more lime juice and made sure the seafood was soaked at least several minutes to allow for a color change and we felt more comfortable consuming the meal after that. I appreciate the fact that our meal was covered in plastic wrap when it was brought to our table because there were a ton of flies! (Although they didn't appear until our food did, so it was good that it was covered) Other than that, the staff was not the friendliest and they didn't offer suggestions or recommendations on the menu. I had to ask what all items were included in the Mariscadas and decided from there because nothing is noted in the menu. Although we enjoyed our meal, because of the location, we wouldn't be back due to the lack of attention or friendly vibes. read more

They'll try and scam you!! They charge a $1k pesos deposit if you pay with a card then won't give you change back from the 1k if the bill is less! We had to take food to go! And it didn't include tip! read more
If we had listened to the other post for this place, we would've had beer and just left. Lucky for us, we stayed. The views, the food, the beer...wow just wow. Ordered a bucket of Coronas, shrimp tacos, nachos and chips w/guacamole. All I can say is the food was simply amazing. The shrimp tacos were fresh, huge and delicious. Nachos were plentiful and very good. The chips w/guacamole were fresh and tasty. So if you are in the area, definitely stop by, you'll have a good time. read more

I just has a fillet stuffed with seafood to die for. We randomly went to a beach restaurant that was near some good beach camping outside of La Paz and what a surprise, Raul recommended the stuffed fillet for me and the octopus for my dad and we both stuffed our faces with glee. Don't get me wrong there was nothing sloppy about the food or the presentation, we just devoured their creation with no regard for the care put into it. This little gem on the beach is worth a stop. read more

This review is for "Actividades acuaticas :: Restaurant Bar Playa El Tecolote". We did the Mega Duck banana boat ride and the guy said it would be 15 minutes for $10 each. So for me and 2 of the kids did it for $30 and to our surprise he was back in 5 mins. I confronted him about the time and he said welcome to Mexico this is not the U.S. I asked him if that means ripping us off and his response "it is what it is". I felt a very strong resentment towards Americans not sure why. I looked in their activity book after I paid and it only said 150 pesos so for all 3 it should've been $25. So I paid him $5 more and he still ripped us off the time. I was about to spend $100 for jet ski and eat there but of course changed my mind. read more

So. I wish I could give this a good review because it is a gorgeous beach and I understand, we are not in a big city. My pulpo was OK and my margarita thoug loaded with mix wasn't too bad - but when you send out nachos - NACHOS! in a pool of bean soup, I'm not sure you get what food service is about. The staff don't care, even when you try to explain why this just is not acceptable. The only reason you see people here is because they see other people here. DONT EAT HERE. Truly - especially if you are a tourists de Norte Americano - they do not care. I tried to talk to the manager. Shoulder shrug. read more
