5/5 : Torogoz has been my family's favorite pupusa spot for years. Unlike them, I don't eat pupusas very often, perhaps once or twice a year. This spot is a lowkey mom-and-pop shop, nothing fancy. It's my go-to when introducing people to my culture. The pupusas are pretty big, and they have a meal with 3 pupusas with a drink for about $10-13. When we sat down it was an hour before closing, but the waitress was very kind, attentive, and showed no sign of annoyance. She started us off with some complimentary chips and refried beans. My party of two ordered 6 pupusas, a coffee, horchata, and a chicken tamale. The chicken tamale was well-seasoned and large in size, and they didn't skimp on the chicken or masa. The best parts of the pupusas is that they have a lot of filling and they don't have excess corn flour (masa) around the edges. That takes A LOT of skill! They're also good as leftovers if you pop them in an air fryer on a low setting ;). Overall, I'd 100% recommend this restaurant to people. read more

Had been seeing this spot in Lynwood/South Gate border as I drive down Long Beach Blvd. Moms said we should try. Piled in to the parking that shares a plaza. Very limited and tight anyways walked in small yet homie and was greeted by the ladies right away. I told them I wanted to place an order to go and the guided me through the process they offered a variety of fillings for the PUPUSAS they make. Frijoles, chicharron, queso or mixed and vegetarian. Huh go figure anyways got three of each as we had family over and it was to give them a try. It came with all the fixings and salsas you need to create the best tasting pupusa I have tasted. I enjoyed it cooked all the way through and not dry at all and for all my Salvadoreños I did not use a fork or knife to eat it. I will definitely come back to try other dishes they had on the menu although I do plan to get there early as when I ordered they told me it was about a 45 minute wait for the food. I didn't mind at all as something told me this small little place that I was informed used to be a hamburger place was vibing and entirely full in the booths. You know what they say. Full of patrons. Great food, poor service, takes a very long time for food to be finished. It normally takes over 1 hour for the food to be delivered, it doesn't matter either its breakfast time or dinner. Also their phone doesn't work so you can not call them for update. read more

My go to for Salvadoran meals. I love the sound of pupusas or tortillas being made. It's a casual dine in. The ambiance is lively and lots of families come here. So far I've had the Pupusas and breakfast. The cooking time and service is a little slow but I appreciate the hot, just made food. Small parking lot can be a problem and the food seems a little slow to come out. But those are the only 'issues' with this place. Great food at reasonable prices. Amazing pupusas, delicious beans, awesome fried bananas, just really good all around. Friendly service and a laid back vibe with families and kids. If ordering take-out, add 15 minutes to whatever time they tell you to pick up at but you will not regret trying this place out. Pupusas revueltas or pupusas de chicharron con queso are my favorites and a must try. Great breakfast platillos as well, love having this so close to home. I'd give 4.5 stars if i could because good food takes time and the parking situation is bad pretty much anywhere you go, but it stops me from giving them a 5. Wanted to get pupusas and I was in the area. Got one cheese, one mixed and two cheese/pork. For the price, very good portion. I got the medium but it was still quite large and it comes with good size of pickled veggies. I haven't had that many pupusas so it's hard for me to compare it to other ones in LA but I thought these were pretty good. A bit oily and salty. It did take them long to make but they were very fresh. I did have issues communicating with the cashier give his limited English and my limited Spanish. read more

very friendly and welcoming. I thought, shoot they only have five breakfast dishes and, wow, ten bucks for huevos rancheros! But when it came, I could see why. Instead of Mexican-style (fried eggs on top of sauce drenched tortillas) this had no tortillas underneath. It was two perfectly poached eggs resting in a Spanish style sauce. On the other side of the plate was black bean purree almost the consistency of soup. A fried banana divided the left from the right. A cube of queso fresco and a blob of crema sat near the beans. A basket with heavy, handmade Salvadorean corn tortillas appeared on the table as well. This plate was delicious! And a real value at only ten bucks. I want to come back and try their specialities. Came in a rush to find lunch in the area, don't know what's around that isn't cheap fast food, and was looking for something that can serve vegan/vegetarian options!! PUPUSAS ARE THE ANSWER Had the frijol pupusa and the vegetariana (cheese and a special hierba in there for flavor) pupusa and they serve you the curtido separately so it doesn't get soggy. Today I decided to try this place out after reading about it on Yelp and seeing that it had good reviews. Having drove by it for years today was the day to try something new. My usual pupusas spot got sold, and it went down hill. I was in the, and still I'm in search of a good pupuseria. My mom loves cheese pupusas so it's our go to place when we go want grab some food. I really liked the flavors of the pupusa the beans are very flavorful, the curtido, the salsa de tomate were delicious. I also ordered a 1/2 order of yuca frita, the yuca was good however the chicharrón tasted a little bit stinky (old) to me. I wouldn't get it again. Overall in flavor this place is definitely a contender. Now the service leaves a lot to be desired, very slow and just don't care to take care of the customer. The one waitress seems overwhelmed but that's no excuse. The man that was around, don't know if he's the owner or manager he seemed pretty unfriendly. Honestly it was a little turn off. I'm giving them a 5 out of 5 because the food quality is perfecto however I would give an honest 4 stars because the restrooms were gross. My pops was very happy that I came across this place, we would usually go to another spot down the street from here but the pupusas are small and would become stale to quick.
