Probablemente la peor experiencia en un restaurante que e tenido en este año. Llegamos y esperamos 30 minutos por una mesa lo cual es totalmente entendible para un domingo. Llegamos y la host en seguida llegó a la mesa a dejar chips y frijoles. Luego llegó Carolina nuestra mesera con 0 carisma y a quien se le nota que odia trabajar en la industria de del servicio de alimentos porque su servicio al cliente es pobre y seco. Llego a tomar la orden toda de un solo y no las bebidas primero como debe ser. Ordenamos las bebidas y yo le pedí un agua de guanábana (está en el menú) y me dijo que no la tenían, entonces le pedi un chocolate caliente (está en el menú) y también me dijo que no tenían, le dije okay, que hay de los cocos (también en el menú)? Me dijo que si tenían, para 5 minutos después venir a decirme que no tenían tampoco eso. Le dije okay que me diera una Coca-Cola. Luego ordenamos nuestra comida, yo ordené una sopa de res (también está en el menú), 10 minutos más tarde viene a decirme que no había sopa de res tampoco. Mi molestia fue ver que a una mesa de 4 personas que llegaron 5 minutos después de nosotros les salió su comida unos 10 minutos antes que a nosotros y que una de sus comida era sopa de res la cual a mí me negaron luego de haberme negado todo lo que quise ordenar antes. Para asegurarme de no juzgar mal le pregunté a la mesera de la otra mesa que si esa era una sopa de res y me dijo que si. Y 30 minutos después de nosotros llegaron otras personas y se sentaron al lado nuestro y ordenaron sopa de res y para ellos también hubo. Cuando vino a decirme que no había sopa de res de inmediato ordené unos camarones a la diabla y que no quería ensalada y en lugar de eso pregunté si me podía dar más arroz, a lo cual respondió que si. Cuando nuestra comida empezó a salir 30 minutos después de haberla ordenado vienen 3 de los 5 platos primero, siendo mis camarones uno de los 3 primeros, con mucha ensalada (la cual había dicho que no quería) y con un poco de arroz crudo o sobre cocido no sabría decir exactamente como. De los 2 platos restantes llegó la mojarra de mi sobrino 15 minutos después de los primeros platos, y 10 minutos despues de la mojarra salieron las 2 pupusas que ordenó mi hermano (cuando ya todos estábamos casi terminando de comer) (45 minutos para 2 pupusas de loroco? Come on!) Luego de la mesera solo llegara a botar los platos no se acercó más nunca a ver si todo salió bien, si nos hacía falta más bebida o algo más, hasta el final. Los adultos de la mesa teníamos los vasos vacíos porque queríamos ordenar más bebida pero nunca se nos ofreció. En fin, este lugar es todo lo que está mal en la industria restaurantera y de servicio al cliente. Yo soy mesero y bartender y se distinguir cuando es culpa del mesero, cocina, o gerencia y en este caso están todos muy mal. La gerencia por contratar gente sin la capacidad y por no asegurarse de que lo que esté en el menú esté también disponible, y por no supervisar el nivel de servicio que se está ofreciendo por parte de su staff. La cocina por no leer los tickets que se meten (porque en el recibo claramente decía no ensalada sub arroz) Y finalmente la mesera que es la parte más importante para asegurarse que el cliente se vaya contento ya que somos la cara del establecimiento. Al no haber las primeras 4 cosas que ordené ella debió PRIMERO poner MUCHA atención a mi plato y asegurarse de que al menos viniera de la manera en que lo ordené. SEGUNDO cuando se tiene una mesa ya molesta uno hace cositas extras para minimizar la molestia del cliente (llevar una pequeña sopita o una pequeña ensaladita de la casa, un poco más de chips y frijoles, asegurarse de que al menos las bebidas no falten, luego quedarse muy pendiente de la mesa molesta y al final ofrecer un pequeño postre por las molestias ocasionadas. Almenos yo como mesero y bartender con experiencia es lo que hago y mis clientes que en algún momento estuvieron molestos se van con un buen sabor de boca de nuestro establecimiento. Porque igual de importante que la comida es la experiencia! Y de eso se encarga un mesero, de asegurarse que el cliente tenga una buena experiencia en ese lugar. Pero claramente Carolina está forzada a trabajar en Sondonate Grill porque se ve que no le agrada el lugar ni la gente que frecuenta el mismo. Yo siempre dejo al menos un 20% de propina pero esta vez iba a dejar un 10% por la mala experiencia porque soy un capaz de irme sin dejar propina pero que creen? Ni para tomar propinas sirve este lugarcito, ya que no puedes dejarla en la tarjeta, debes llevar cash si o si. En fin, una experiencia 1 de 10. read more

I gave this place a good review because of the waitress, she was doing everything except for the cooking . At first we were a bit upset but then realized it was not her fault as she had to do everything all by her self, they are hiring by the way . The food is very delicious definitely taste like the traditional salvadorean dishes no doubt . Cuando se me antoja la sopa de 7 mares con crema. Este es mi lugar preferido!!. Para empezar las meseras súper atentas , el servicio pues tardan un poquito en que te traigan tu comida pero se me hace muy normal por que ellos siempre se la pasan bien ocupados gracias a Dios . Eso si - no dudes en pedir una michelada , tu coca o una horchata para esperar tu orden de lo más tranquil@!! El Lugar es perfecto pues tienen pantallas para ver los partidos y una rocola para que que pongas unos dólares y a escuchar tu música preferida mientras te avientas tu deliciosa comida. First time here so I haven't tried everything on the menu. The fried yucca with pork was very very good. Both the yucca and pork were cooked to perfection and was worth $11.50 - great portion and ate it as an entree although it's listed as an appetizer. The salpicón was tasty but small on the portion size for $18.50. The Ambiance on the first floor was very nice and not too loud despite having a bar - they also have a second floor which I imagine is a little quieter. Note that they charged a 'Restaurant surcharge' of about 10% of the total - not sure what that's for... Definitely try the fried or regular yucca with pork - Delicious! read more

The food in this place has not changed! The food is amazing! The service still lacking but I knew that coming in as I have in the past. The place was full as usual. If you don't expect fast or good customer service you will not go wrong with the food. The horchata brings me back to my happy places with my mom, may she rest in peace. The ambiance was busy and you can tell people were enjoying their food. The pupusas weren't greasy and the flavor was spot on whether revueltas or queso con loroco. Outside there was this vendor selling mangos verdes I can't even write about it without drooling. Again bringing me happy memories to smile and laugh about. This is definitely the place to go to celebrate my mom's life and Salvadoran heritage. read more

I loved, loved, LOVED, the authentic taste of their take on the plato tipico. Their micheladas were as close to what I remember back home. The place was a little bit dark for my own preference, cause it has this bar style of setting but the attention we got for a Saturday afternoon was superb. The waitresses were so kind and attentive. I had left a previous review from over 9 months ago, i have started going again in recent months and their service has improved a lo. They have also improved their packaging for to go orders. They also don't charge a service fee anymore due to the city ordinance not allowing it. They did raise their prices a little bit but I prefer to see an increased price than to see an extra 10% added to my order. read more

Where do I start...this restaurant has forgot, in multiple occasions, to give me a complete order (e.g., side dishes, appetizers, salsa, etc.). When COVID happened, I would call to order take out; the times were not accurate; had to wait longer than stated. I continued to support the business because the food is actually decent. But a week ago, I called to order take out (i.e., five pupusas); I provided my name, and I was told to arrive in 25 min. When my partner went to pick-up the order, he was told that "no one by my name" had called. To make the story short, the restaurant didn't have my order. When I spoke to the waiter, she didn't even acknowledge her mistake, was rude, and tried to give me an excuse of why she didn't have my order (I was told THAT I MUST'VE CALLED THE WRONG RESTAURANT). She told my husband her system went down and kept my debit card when I returned I saw her as she swiped my card and removed $20 from the cashier and quickly put them in her pocket. After talking to my family about this I decided to go ask if there was an elevator for a family member that cannot go up the stairs. Came here with my bf and some friends and was very pleased with the food! We all ordered pupusas and they were very big. I ordered 2 and could only finish one. The aguas frescas were also on point. I would definitely recommend the tamarindo one. They even brought us out guac and tortilla crisps as a side. I have absolutely no complaints on the food. HOWEVER, this place could improve their customer service. For starters, when we got there, there was a sign stating to wait and be seated. We waited and no one came until one of my friends got someone's attention. Our server was not the friendliest and looked kind of annoyed the entire time.
