Exceptional, authentic Mexican food. The Carne Asada tacos reminded me of my favorite restaurant in Monterrey Mexico during my college years, yum!

Absolutely phenomenal!!! Spending a night in the area and asked several friends who know the area what their favorite meal in Northfield is - El Triunfo was the answer all three gave me. Just the right amount of spicy and delicious.

Panda Express and Chipotle combined? Hmmm...you peaked my interest. The menu does not disappoint when it comes to a mixture of fusion food, whether that be a taco, rice bowl, or burrito. You basically can build your own combo or choose from one of their own recipes. My wife decided upon the fried shrimp poke bowl and I tried three tacos - the spiced cauliflower, bahn mi, and fried fish. All of our meats were deliciously cooked and seasoned. The spiced cauliflower sauce was packed full of flavor. They have cracked the code on how to make cauliflower taste good! Amazing. I especially loved the pork belly in the bahn mi inspired taco. It was unique, not quite bahn mi, but extremely tasty nonetheless. I enjoyed all three of my tacos. My wife raved about her poke bowl. Once again, it was not quite a poke bowl since there was no raw fish included but you got everything else and it was all fresh and tasty. We also shared a bag of chips and their fresh guac - very good choice to even out our meal. We liked the variety and uniqueness of the dishes we tried. I will definitely stop back when I am in Northfield for more of that pork belly, yum.

It's not priced too high and reminds me of a "better chipotle," if that makes any sense. People working were young but friendly. Not any decor on the walls and just kind of said Gong Loco on the wall. Update: went back last night and there is decor painted on the walls in an almost Latin way some food items. Flavor still very good but I had the cilantro lime rice and there were hard pieces in there that almost looked like they had been there since lunch. Almost like instead of switching holding pans, new rice was dumped in the old pan. Pic below.

The menu is like 6 pages long, consistent with other Mexican joints there's endless combinations. Fajitas kind of greasy and I'm not a fan of the mushrooms and zucchini in the mix. Enchiladas are saucy, just too much sauce. Not my favorite. Puff taco really good, seems more fresh, has good combination of flavors. I've had Burrito supreme and Burrito California, both have been my favorite items. They are big, it will fill up larger appetites for sure.

The chips were old and not fresh (chewy, not crisp) and the salsa tasted like bottled taco sauce, it was not appetizing at all. My burrito was tasteless, we sat in a booth that has been taped up and obviously needs to be replaced. My friends taco salad was taste-less, ground beef had no taste either. The service was meh--our waitress (fake eyelashes) was so rude (I have had her before and she is never nice, and always acts like she is being asked too much when I asked for a refill.). She could be the owner, but she needs a class on being kind to customers. Figure it out, girl! One another thing, the windows were full of flies buzzing around our booth, it was gross. I do not know what you do with that, but figure it out, gross! We will not be back~

To my dismay, they've expanded their brand and added Coco's Market right next door to the restaurant. AND IT'S SO FRICKEN COOL INSIDE!! You can find almost anything in there and it's a great place to get authentic Mexican souvenirs such as hats, keychains, belts, aprons, and so much more. Apart from that they also sell grocery items like avocados, limes, rice , canned items, rice, tomatoes etc... and get this, you can even send money to different countries!! The true definition of a one-stop-shop! TALK ABOUT DECOR!! This place will uplift your spirit from the moment you enter through the double doors. I love how much attention they put into making the space feel and look stunning. One a cold wintery day like today, the little things like this matter most. Seating area is nice and the noise level was adequate with a touch of Mexican cumbia music! I wasn't really in the mood for meat and I love that their expansive menu can accommodate my peculiar eating patterns lol. I started off with a HOT bowl of Mexican Menudo, then a plate of Mexican rice, beans and tortillas on the side with cheese inside.. Y-U-M-M-Y!!! This was followed by a platter of picadas (that I shared with my partner), a cup of Mexican prepared corn (esquite) and washed it all down with a glass of horchata! Overall it was to die for! I've spent a good chunk of time in Cuernavaca, Mexico and the food here reminds me so much of the food there. Coco's roots trace back to Maltrata, Vera Cruz in Mexico and I love how they've blessed the community here with a taste of home. It's located in the heart of Northfield on a strip that can be considered their downtown, so there's lots of petite mom and pop shops that you can browse. Decent amount of parking in the front area, otherwise you can also swing in the back of the building and find more parking. Going to Coco's is now a routine whenever I'm in Northfield and one that I can get used to :) Fast service + family-oriented + hot and freshly made food = Coco's Place. Once again, I left a happy camper ;)
