And for the past 15 years while in Salisbury to visit my father I've found it difficult to escape "family" chain restaurants or touristy Eastern Shore fake "authentic" seafood shacks. Until this visit when I was clued in on the soul food counter in the back of Friendly Food Store. A daily menu offering 6 or 7 southern delicacies, home cooked by the charming woman behind the counter. A choice of yummy sides. And all for exactly the price you'd expect to pay for quality homemade food. So far I've had the Goat Curry, Chicken & Slippery Dumplings, Beef Stew, Turkey Wings, and Chitterlings (and watched people swoon over the turkey neck bones). Oh, and rumor has it that they do a wicked good muskrat when they're in season.
