Simpatico is a wonderful little shop in St. Michaels that specializes in Italian items (wine, food, kitchen linens, dinnerware, accessories, etc.), and I'm so glad we visited with our friends when we were visiting them in St. Michaels last weekend. It's small, but it has such an amazing inventory. I loved that they sell wine from every region of Italy, and we took home some great wines from Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Their food products were also great, and I'm a little jealous that we don't have a shop like Simpatico near us in Baltimore. Because I'm sure I'd be here all the time. What a great small store filled with all things Italian! From limoncello to the latest boutique items from the land of the Caesar's and pizza. The top notch selection of food and accouterments that serve just about anyone looking for something from Italy won't be dissatisfied. Small in size in an early 20th century lively painted building just off the Main Street in town, with friendly service, fair pricing and nice selection I think it's a great addition to historic St. Michaels, that was once the capital of Maryland in colonial days. read more

This wonderful shop located off of Talbot Street in St Michael's is a little bit of gluten-free heaven on Earth. This shop has awesome gluten-free Italian food that are hard to find anywhere else. They have - for example - gluten-free panettone! Is that awesome or what! I attach a few photos of the panettone. The panettone has an orange flavor. I really like it because it is sweet but not overly sweet. It has orange zest and raisins. And they will ship food straight to your house! I have found their service is very prompt. They usually ship your order a few days after you place the order. They have an entire gluten-free section in their store including a nice selection of gluten free pasta and cookies. They also have a lot of sauces and other gourmet items like olives stuffed with tomatoes, pestos, grilled artichokes in sunflower oil, and risotto mixes, that are gluten free but they are not in the gluten-free section. The owner is very knowledgeable about the items in her store. She speaks like she has personally tasted every single item in the store. And she is also very well aware of what items are gluten free. One member of the staff at the store is herself a celiac so she can tell you from personal experience which items are gluten free. It's a destination worth visiting if you are in the St. Michael's area. Be sure to bring a big car if you can because you might want to buy a lot of things when you're here. They also have very hard to find Italian wines that are really yummy. To purchase the wines you must visit the shop in person. They are not able to ship the wines. Most of the wines are $20 or less and they are great. Many are limited production runs you cannot find anywhere else in the US. There are also free wine tastings at the shop. All the wines we tasted the day we visited were of exceptional quality. And if you're in the area go down the street a few blocks and visit the gluten free bakery girl. That is a 100% gluten free bakery which is really awesome. read more

Having lunch in St Michael's over the Halloween weekend was made extra great with a wine tasting at this location. First let me say, Simpatico had me when I saw the Limoncello (Lemon Liqueur). I recently return from a trip to Italy and feel in love with this drink. On Saturday they do a wine tasting as well as some Italian food products. The store has everything from wines, food and glassware for purchase . The best part is the keep your order on file. Just in case you forget that favorite wine they can retrieve your old order. The staff was knowledgeable on wines and extra helpful with wine pairings. I learned a few new things. I will make sure to visit again when I'm in the area read more

All sorts of hard to find Italian wines with a knowledgable staff to help you make your selection. This shop has an incredible selection of Italian wines backed up by owners Bobbi & Mary who can speak to every single bottle. I was totally impressed with their depth of knowledge. A cute little shop in downtown St. Michaels consisting of artisan items imported from Italy. You will find a few food items in here, but most everything is going to be items like plates, stemware, ornaments, etc. They really had some beautiful pieces in here and if you are looking to decorate your home with an Italian flair, you will want to check this place out. You might not want to bring young children in here as this is a fairly small shop with lots of expensive breakable items! read more

This shop is mostly wines and other alcoholic Italian beverages. They do have a small selection of Italian products as well. The woman that work there are very helpful and knowledgeable. I got a bottle of red, but walked out with three other bottles that I didn't know I needed in my life. As to try the limoncello, which is best served from the freezer in a shot, and the Pisa liquor which is amazing. read more

So kind and friendly. I love how they let you taste all the wines and olive oils. I really recommend the francescano limencello, it was so delicious!
