Thursday night was the Boca Raton Bowl. The Boca Bowl is an annual NCAA DIVISION 1 football game. FAU has been hosting this bowl game since 2014. USF played Syracuse. Both my boys were in town and we got free tickets through Rotary so we made it a family night. Plenty of tailgating before the game. Live entertainment, food stands, games and raffles. The stadium was half empty which was pretty sad. This isn't UF where you're packed in with 90000 Gator fans. We did have access to the Premier Club sponsored by Acura. Entrance on the very top of the stadium is with a wrist band only. Free buffet style food is offered, free soft drinks, as well as way overpriced cocktails, beer and assorted alcoholic beverages. The lounge has big screen TVs and seating and there was a DJ. USF pounded Syracuse 45-0.

Parking is free in the garage before 5 PM. The building was constructed in 1926 as a Methodist church. During the Hurricane of 1928, the church basement was used to shelter people. By the 1980's, downtown West Palm Beach was rundown and associated with poverty and drug use. In 1996 in an effort to make the area more business and tourist friendly, the 55 acres surrounding the theater was demolished. Mayor Nancy Graham offered developers the opportunity to redesign the square as long as they preserved this building. The church underwent a six million dollar restoration by REG Architects turning into a multipurpose performance hall with shops on the first floor. It anchored City Place which is now called The Square. The 850-seat, 11,000-square-foot theater opened in 2000 and it was used for arts performances, receptions, community meetings and other events. The theater was named in honor of patron of the arts, Harriet Himmel who donated three million dollars in exchange for naming rights. Today the building is once again a church. Christ Fellowship Church holds Sunday services at 9:30 AM and 11 AM. This beautiful building stands majestically as the backdrop for The Squares many restaurants, shops, and public art pieces. It's lovely inside, and as it's on the Intracoastal, you can't beat the view from the back. There's a bar serving pricy snacks, sandwiches, bottled water, or wine and champagne. Everything is clean and spacious. The back patio is great for getting fresh air before a show and during intermissions. The theater itself is intimate and comfortable. My second row seat was so close to the stage and cost the same as the seats in the back (I think, at least it was for this particular production). I really liked the complimentary valet parking, as well. I will definitely return for future shows.

We went to listen to our 9 year old granddaughter sing one song in her school chorus there. Parking is available for $25 and valet is $35 but if you have a handicap placard, it's free. When we went in, there was lots of signage. The park is gorgeous. Clean, lots of security, blooming flowers, lush greenery. Unfortunately we missed the chorus because they started earlier than the time they told us to be there. However, we met up with rest of family and enjoyed the park. The kids went on the carousel. I joined them. Then there were kiosks filled with various merchandise which they were selling. Afterwards, there was an equestrian jumping competition. I was in awe. There was stadium seating. This was all FREE! There was a huge screen broadcasting the entire event for all to see. Food areas were on the grounds to purchase fast food. It was something to behold and we can't wait to return another time with other friends to view the horses and next competition. I understand they have this every Saturday.

There are plenty of areas to take photos with statues of horses, a free merry go round, flowers, etc. It was great entertainment. I grew up competing and riding hunter jumpers, so I am partial ... however I think anyone would enjoy an evening out viewing these beautiful horses, people watching, eating and shopping! Enjoy! The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum is located in the former home of the late Solomon D. Spady, a…read moreprominent African American educator and community leader in Delray Beach from 1922 to 1957. The museum is operated by Epoch is a non profit organization. The name is an acronym for expanding and preserving our cultural heritage. Epoch purchased the house in 1997 and renovated it. They museum opened in July 2001 and it is the only African American cultural center in Palm Beach County. Epoch offer several events at the house throughout the year. The Ride and Remember Bus Tour takes place once a month and leaves from the Spady House and visits all 5 of the historical districts in Delray Beach. They also have a Youth Cultural Empowerment Camp, a Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast, and a Kwanzaa and Juneteenth celebration. Dates and times can be found on the events calendar on their website. The Spady House is open to visitors Tuesday through Thursday from 11-4 PM.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Boynton Beach Fire Department. The first…read morefire house was a two bay station on Boynton Beach Boulevard. In June of 1925 a representative from the American La France Fire Engine Company met with Boynton Beach city officials to sell them a refurbished 1910 engine that had been in an accident in Perry, Florida. The city agreed to buy their first fire truck for the remaining payments owed. After 30 years of service it was finally decommissioned in the 1950's and sold to someone in Miami. Today Boynton Beach has five fire stations and they not only put out fires but they also offer EMS services. The Boynton Beach Fire Department provides community outreach, youth programs, and certification programs. To commemorate this important milestone in the history of the city, a festival was held today behind City Hall in Centennial Park and Amphitheater. There were history and equipment displays, technical demonstrations, community and city tents, vendors, food trucks, bounce houses, crafts for the kids, live music, and more. I really love getting to see the 1924 fire engine on display. This free family friendly event showcased the great work being done by the Boynton Beach Fire Department.

The Boynton Beach Culture and Arts Center is an anchor in the new Boynton Beach Town Square. It is…read morelocated in the historic 1927 building that used to be the Boynton Beach High School. The two story building has been refurbished and now has a 39 foot high domed ceiling exhibit hall, exhibition space, and teaching studios. The Boynton Beach Culture and Arts Center hosts dance classes, technical drawing classes for adults, art exhibits, private events, workshops, and classes. Outside the building is public art and two playgrounds. The Culture and Arts Center is a place for the community to gather and express themselves creatively and learn new skills. A full schedule of classes and events is in every Funfare Magazine, printed 3 times a year. This weekend the Boynton Beach Culture and Arts Center is hosting the free 6th Annual Kinetic Biennial. The event has indoor and outdoor kinetic art experiences, installations, and displays from both local and international artists along with food trucks, live entertainment, and artist talks. It is the perfect time to enjoy some exciting artwork and to learn more about all the great things the Boynton Beach Culture and Arts Center is putting together for 2023.
