We had come from the national polka festival and already eaten too many kolache so we didn't try any of the baked goods, but they looked really good. My biggest concern is by signing the 3 page membership agreement that I'm pretty sure I am now part a cult that will eventually try to overthrow the government using an army of goats. I would share why I think that, but I'm pretty sure I signed something saying that I wouldn't go into details.

This is a beautifully clean place and given the nature of it, farm property, thats no small thing. The restrooms are clean, bright and well appointed. There is a nice seating area indoors and the outside area is really good as well. The outdoors area is separated from the goats by a fence, but they're all in view. The goats are ultra cool IF you like goats, I do! There's a couple of quarter operated feed dispensers available. If you like goats, bring your quarters!! Understand that the goats KNOW what's going on and will likely mob you. It's not at all unusual for them to stand on their back legs and rest their front hooves on you. They're likely to be muddy, so you're likely to get muddy as well. Wear your muck boots if you have them, no flip flops or new beautiful shoes. Definitely give this place a try!

Ham Orchards is a peach farm, market, BBQ joint, and MUST VISIT destination in North Texas. It's…read morebeen over a decade since my original visit, and a fun road trip with friends on a beautiful weekend in May resulted in an experience that made me question why it took over 10 years to return. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Pro Tip #1 - try to get there before 11:30 AM and plan your visit in May. Ham Orchards gets really busy at noon, and Texas gets really hot in June. There's plenty of parking (dirt lot), tons of people (and families), and you'll hear a musician or two playing on the guitar. 1 Star. Service - The staff is super nice. There's a market with dedicated peach soft serve lines as well as a separate building for BBQ. The two are separate, so you don't have to eat the BBQ at Ham Orchards if you only want to shop at the market. Upon entering the market, a very friendly and helpful staff member will help answer questions and guide you. 1 Star. Food - Ham Orchards is a peach farm, so I recommend you order anything that is peach infused. I went with the Peach Pulled Pork. The pork was very tender, the buns were lightly toasted, and the Peach Pulled Pork was sweet and tender. But the star of this trip was the Peach Infused Pickles. Wow, this condiment turned my "meh" potato salad into a peach infused bite that was peach sweet, pickle tart, and potato creamy. I also bought a full-sized Peach Pie from the market home. It was very good (and perfect for my Instagram feed). Pro Tip #2 - if you want to buy a pie, purchase it from the market before you eat lunch, otherwise they may be sold out. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. Next time, I won't let 11 years pass between my visit to Ham Orchards. The road trip was super fun, the BBQ was tasty, and the pie I took home was a great reminder that some of the best destinations are a short road trip outside of Dallas. 1 Star
