On a weekend or holiday, definitely get there early or they will run out of bikes! Note that if you ride on the beach, bike must be THOROUGHLY cleaned upon return or you will incur a fee. Rental included a helmet and bike lock. We cleaned our helmets and bike handles with rubbing alcohol, and all was good. Bikes functioned well, and we did 10 miles before dark. Stopped for dinner, locked up the bikes, ate, and rode home. Made for a great day! If you didn't/couldn't bring your own bike, riding around Jekyll is worth the money. I first rode the full island perimeter with friends in the late 80s, and I never forgot it! I was 8yo and did a 20-mi ride (I was so proud of myself), and the experience captured my heart. Do it! Get some exercise and bike the island up close and personal! Make sure to hit the trails on the interior of the southern part of the island! One mile biked is equivalent to about about 400-440 steps in terms of exercise, but walking the whole island takes forever. Bike it to scope things out, and then go walk your favorite parts later.

We tried to book 3 golf carts with Orion, but they only had two.  They misunderstood my email telling them I needed three and delivered only two. I called them immediately upon arrival to tell them to pick them up. They picked up the carts immediately and said they would refund our money. (I offered them 1 day rental for the delivery.) They then reneged on their offer and charged us for the full week!  USE SEASIDE!

He also kept us entertained the whole time! Also, Patrick was a wealth of knowledge. He shared a lot of the area's history as well as teaching us a about the local flora and fauna. Who knew there were marsh rabbits that actually swim? By the way, the picture is a Wood Stork. Unfortunately we did not get to see it carrying any babies. The rest of the folks at Ocean Motion were awesome. I waited until the last minute to book my kayak excursion. Not only did they get me a spot, they let me ride with Patrick to the put-in (my wife had taken our car). The store at Ocean Motion has a great selection of high quality clothing and other outdoor items. My wife picked up an awesome Patagonia shoulder bag. I got my new favorite shorts made be Howler Bros. I was not familiar with the brand but they are truly my new favorite shorts! I would highly recommend Ocean Motion for both shopping and kayak touring.

The rental prices are reasonable and I like that they offer helmets and baskets for no extra charge. There bike selection has changed a bit over the years and now all the bikes are the same color but they offer bikes with the add on for children to ride along the back. The store sells cute clothing as well and little things like sunscreen in case you're in need. The staff are always very helpful with recommending bike routes and things to do while on the island. If you're in need of a bike while on SSI, make your way down here!

This path is well-maintained, runs the length of the island and is perfect for bikers and walkers. The portions of the path that run right through the developed area along Frederica road aren't anything special, but other portions that run along the marsh offer stunning vistas, especially at sunset. My only complaint is that this path isn't more well lit. St. Simons is a small community, and I feel safe walking there at night (with a buddy of course). Because there are very few lights along the path, walking at night is difficult, if not impossible.

The on-site food is quite good. I tried a few items and everything was fresh and flavorful, but the highlight was definitely the protein squares. They're dense, tasty, perfectly portioned, and ideal for a quick, satisfying boost. It also makes for a good study spot if you need a break.
