It's been a few years since I've been to Electric Coffee House, but I came in to work from the coffee shop a couple of weeks ago. Just like the first time I visited, they were hoppin'! It's right in downtown Sumner so it's easy for people to pop right in, but there were others who were also working remotely for the day. Lots of seating, lots of plug ins, and free wifi. I love how bright and airy it is here, too. Definitely is the best spot for a sunny spring or summer day. On Tuesdays, they do $5 Taco Tuesday which is such a steal! For $5 you get two tacos with your protein of choice (carne asada or chicken). I decided to try this since I got the quesadilla last time. Some of the cuts of meat were pretty grisly/fatty which was a bit of a turn off, but overall they were good. I also got the chips, salsa, and guac on the side. I think next time I would skip the salsa as it was super chunky and not a salsa texture at all, and had no kick to it. The guac was really good though! I wouldn't say it's the best coffee shop I've ever been to, but the atmosphere here is so bright and cheery that I'll definitely still keep coming back when I'm looking for a change of scenery that isn't my desk at home! I was here a few years ago and it was a major miss. I decided to come back because people rave about it so I decided to give it another shot. I ordered the banana matcha, it was a seasonal and it was gone from my favorite coffee place so I had been craving it. I was excited to see that they had it here but ended up being very disappointed with it. The flavor just fell flat for me, and it had that grainy matcha aftertaste. The caramel latte was simple yet good, sometimes the safe choice is the best choice. The avocado toast was basic, nothing crazy. I got the burrata toast and really like it, however I feel like there's no way that either one of those toasts are worth $14, crazy markup for profit. The inside isn't bad, it's not my aesthetic but it has a personality to it. The train drives by RIGHT NEXT TO IT. Pretty cool and pretty annoying. Asked why. "Because of sausage." Why would I be charged for sausage if told I could substitute for bacon. Training issue. Sad. read more

The service was great, the staff were attentive from welcoming us in upon arrival to saying "thank you for coming in", which I appreciate. The burrata toast was really good but it was a bit pricey for $17. The coffee was okay, but not my favorite. A pretty interesting coffee shop in downtown Sumner. Layout of the shop is pretty spacious with a bar where there are some stores you can sit at the decor and ambience is full of plants that are pretty nice looking. It has a modern house/contemporary house, vibe to the color scheme and the overall layout. The employees are friendly, and the service is decent. The prices are actually not as atrocious as I would think in most coffee shops in the area. There is a drive-through and they sell plants and advertise a lot of community events The wake up call is a breakfast item. You can get here in multiple different forms, including a taco and it'll cost about six dollars but it actually is pretty good. They have Proud Mary coffee here which is based in Australia and has multiple shops on its own across the United States. This is not proud Mary itself, but they do have Proud Mary coffee bags that you can buy and pour over options There are alcohol alcoholic drinks that you can also take out with some stipulations. You can get here as well and delicious looking pastries, and vegan donuts that are about six dollars. Overall, a pretty solid coffee place read more

Visited on a weekday afternoon for lunch and a little treat for myself and enjoyed my time on a sunny afternoon. Ordered the Burrata Toast with a Raspberry Espresso Martini. Didnt taste much of the raspberry but it wasnt overly strong and it was a good mix of coffee and alcohol. The Burrata Toast was a bit too sour to my liking, but appreciated the generous condiments on the toast. Parking situation is street parking. The further out you are from the main area of downtown Sumner, you will likely find more parking. It was easy to find a spot just two cars away from the entrance. Plus, people from what I see tend to just spend about an hour or two then leave. Overall, I recommend! They have pretty good food and drinks, alcohol and nonalcohol. The last three visits have been so sub par. I at one time loved this spot. The coffee was good (not so much anymore), the plants were great, as of the last visits they needed TLC, badly, and clean, also a big NO. I was in 20 minutes after opening today. The tables were dirty, the pastry case almost empty with filthy shelves and the counters in view were in equal condition. I tried to find a email to let the owners know without going "public" but website had no contact information. This cafe is such a gem in a secluded little town of Sumner. Service was good and there was ample space, but not so much sitting space compared to other cafes. The ambience looks so bright and lively with all of the natural sunlight that comes in. We ordered the vanilla and raspberry latte for drinks, and the zing bowl and avocado toast for food. We have been to this coffee house multiple times, it's always bustling and putting off good coffee house vibes. We stopped in today for some coffees before walking around downtown Sumner, the flavors that are present in these coffees are more pronounced than in a similar chain coffee establishments drinks. Service was very friendly, and the space was... spacious lol I was excited to see they had mimosa flights but wasn't a fan of the flavors. Surprisingly I liked blueberry the most which I didn't think I was going to like. The other two flavors were pineapple and mango. Vanilla latte was super tasty! We also ordered some small bites: street tacos & avocado toast. I had asked for egg whites only on my toast and they were able to accommodate that. I wasn't super impressed by the food but I'll have to come back and try other options like their burrito or quesadillas. We must have come after a huge rush because majority of the tables were taken and the ones that were open were still a bit dirty and needed a wipe down. Stopped by on a hot summer today for some matcha and it did not disappoint. The ambience is clean casual fun. Their cookie was was bomb.com so good I almost wanted to get a second but stopped myself coz didn't want to ruin all my hard work in the gym. The service is friendly and warm. I did not try any food but everything that I saw people eat, they looked happy! Cons: Would not recommend for studying / school work without loud headphones as the train passes very frequently about 300 ft from the building. In a word: disappointing! I was excited to bring my husband and mother in law here, as it's been tasty before! We ordered three 12 oz drinks, the El Trio (chips, guacamole, and salsa) and the In Queso Emergency (chips and queso) and the total was 46.00 with tip. The staff, usually a friendly group was very dismissive and seemed bothered when asked for service. The chips came right out of a Costco bag sitting open on the counter, the "guacamole" was smashed up, unseasoned avocado, and the dips both tasted like they came out of a jar. The Raspberry White Mocha on special was fairly tasteless. The prices on the website are inaccurate ( appetizers listed as $8 but are $10) There was another family using the high chair and when the barista cleared their table, she left the high chair in the back covered in mess . We enjoyed playing uno, the overall aesthetic of the shop, and the bathrooms were clean but overall it was a let down read more

I don't make it over to Sumner much even though it isn't very far from Tacoma. We did have Electric Coffee House down on our list and stopped by here before we started walking on the Foothills Trail near Orting. We were hungry and were ready for something to drink even though we haven't even hit the trail yet. I am glad we did though because it turned out to be a long urban hike. The coffee place is very popular and lots of customers come in at the counter and use the drive up as well. They were understaffed for the amount of customers they had so wait times for the front counter and the food were noticeable and they kept acknowledging our wait which was very good of them as it feeled like they cared about everyone rather than being ignored. But the wait for the food made sense after getting it because it was a few notches above your typical coffee shops and I was impressed! For what we got on our order was a quesadilla and crispy tofu. I got the quesadilla which was so good and Steve's tofu was good as well. I haven't had an Italian Soda in ages and got a strawberry flavored one which was very good! Good experience with this coffee shop and worthy of a return and the wait is worth it as the food and beverages are good! One other note we went here on 5/12/23 and a lot of the roads downtown were torn up for what looks like a lengthy construction project. So you will definitely need to park on side streets and a few of those are torn up too. The walk to the coffee shop isn't bad but just be careful not to trip over some of the work going on there. Parking isn't too bad either as you can still park relatively close to the main drag that is experiencing road work. Sumner isn't as congested or as busy as other nearby cities and towns which is a big help when it comes to parking close by to places you want to go to. read more

I came to electric coffee house for the first time today, while my drink was good, my food was nearly inedible. Let me start with my drink, I got a blueberry matcha and it was very good. The matcha was not overly sweet and the blue berry flavoring was not overbearing. This drink was seasonal and crafted well. For food I got the wake up call in a bowl and while it was beautiful, and the flavors of the individual ingredients were good, there was an unbelievably overwhelming amount of aioli and guacamole. It turned the entire dish into a mayonnaise mash. Neither me, nor the two people I was with could finish our bowls because we had stomach aches from the overwhelming amount of mayonnaise. The portions, for $13, were decent, I just wish it was not drenched in mayonnaise. There was lots of seating and the cafe was cute, and the employees were very kind. read more

On first blush this seems to be the BOUGIEST*, whitest place imaginable. They literally have avocado toast first thing on menu. Everyone here is SO put-together. High-end seeming, fashionable clothes (even casual ones), makeup and hair done just so, etc. If I thought Sumner could be gentrified (and it honestly seems like it is here and there, so maybe it can) it would be an affront in some way. HOWEVER! The small, slightly overpriced menu was full of tempting items, they had a buncha fresh doughnuts that I didn't even eat all of, and the place was actually pretty great. Indoor and out was clean and bright, staff were pleasant and professional, food and coffee was great. I got the Wake Up Call, which one could get in taco, bowl or burrito form. I really wanted to love this place. I mainly came here for the donuts-- they carry Dudes donuts, which are gf/vegan. I saw that they had matcha on their menu, which was a relief because I'm not much of a coffee or chai tea drinker. The first time I stopped in, I ordered a matcha latte with almond milk and it was perfect. I came in a week later to get donuts and another matcha latte, but something wasn't right about my drink. The barista handed off my drink and called out matcha latte in a weird way... I didn't really think much of it until I got home and took a sip. Food was okay, mediocre for the price they charge. The previous reviews really hyped the place up. I got a flight of cold brew, barista's choice of syrup. Only the lavender one was good, all of the other 3 tasted weird. Cold brew overall was watered down and they jammed the glasses with mostly ice. My husband ordered a hot coffee and got an iced one so he asked if they could remake it and the barista was not happy about that. The 2 kids high chairs they had were full of crumbs. I would say it's not really kids friendly with the kind of crowd there was and menu option. Street parking was hard to find at 11 AM on a Saturday.
