I became a customer of Jorge's several years ago after finding him on Pioneer's website listed as a certified technician. I've brought him two sets of Technics 1200s and an Allen & Heath Xone:42 mixer. The first time, while he was still at his Glendale location, he cleaned the contacts and jacks, performed an internal grounding modification, and upgraded the RCA cables on my 1200MK5s. More recently, he performed the same service on my 1200MK2s. His pricing is fair. I believe I paid around $124 for service on my turntables and about $89 for my mixer most recently. The MK5s are my daily drivers, and I've had no issues with them since the service. I haven't had a chance to use my MK2s yet, but based on my experience, I'm confident they'll perform just as well. Jorge is trusted by bedroom DJs like myself, as well as clubs, pro audio dealers, recording studios, and festivals. He and his team also repair CDJs, all in one DJ units, hi-fi equipment, and even microwaves. I've referred a couple of friends to him, and they all sing his praises. read more

I would not recommend Electro Tech Services to anyone. I took my CD player in for repair, and Jorge kept it for a month and a half without fixing a single thing. First, I was told they received a defective laser. Then I was told the second laser was defective too. Whether that's true or not, after six weeks there was still zero progress. What made the experience even worse was the complete lack of communication. I received virtually no updates and had to keep calling to find out what was going on. After a month and a half, I got my CD player back in the same condition I brought it in. Keeping a customer's equipment for that long with no repair completed and almost no communication is unacceptable. Extremely unprofessional experience and a complete waste of time. read more

This is from Nov 2024 as it was never submitted. I brought in my 1970s Marantz 2250b receiver for a couple of issues. The on/off switch was not working properly, my main speaker channel was not working and I was relying on my remote speaker channel. Jorge told me he will check it out and call me with his findings. Jorge called to tell me the power switch should be changed. He also suggested changing the capacitors as they are the original and 50 years old. I gave him the okay to proceed with the repairs. He told me it will take some time to order and receive the parts. I had no problem waiting as I wanted it repaired properly. I picked it up today and the receiver sounds like it is brand new. First, I took my Pioneer XDJ to a business closer to my home. It's called Solutions on Sunset Blvd. They're absolute scammers and were saying it would cost $800 to repair my gear. I wanted a second opinion, which is what brought me to Electro Tech. I cannot stress enough how professional my experience was here. I dropped my XDJ off and heard back within 3 days that the work was completed and would cost me $193! When I arrived to pick it up, he walked me through the parts he'd replaced, ran me through the costs, and turned the XDJ on in front of me to show how it now worked. So I had to send a pioneer ddj controller back in for some repairs under warranty. Before I ever shipped the controller I called Jorge and explained that the controller would be showing up at his location after the the last day of it being under warranty but that I had called pioneer repair services before that final date as shown on documentation provided to him from Pioneer. I asked if this would be a problem he said absolutely not to just send it on in.. So thats what I did..Heard nothing for over a week so I called Jorge...He said that the unit was no long under warrenty and its just been sitting there at his locatioin.. I reminded him of the situation and that we had already spoken about this ..He just cut me off saying that he is very busy talks to lots of people but the would start repairs on my unit right away. I waited another week and heard nothing. So I call him again.. He tells me that repairs are done and I should be recieving a tracking number in my email later that day. I never recieved a tracking number and waited a couple more days, still no tracking number or phone call. So I call him agian, He says that he will text me the tracking information which after about 10-15mins he des send... I then go to look up the tracking information which had just been created while he was on the phone with me telling me that it had already shipped and was on its way. I can't begin to understand why this man as felt the need to lie and be dishonest about any of this and I have my doubts that even when I do get the controller , it shows up and no repairs have been done to it at all. read more

Hands down. Jorge is the man. Been back to visit Jorge twice now and was originally referred by Auggie from Sound Factory. First time I had an issues with a Pioneer S9 and second time with a DJM 900 NXS. Jorge always answers the phone, gets you in quickly and will try and get you your gear back asap. i like this place because they are very reasonable in price and are able to fix pretty much any electronics. I have taken a car amp fixed it like it was brand new , a couple tv's , and friends tv's. I came to Jorge about getting a circuit board repaired. He took the time to look it over and we talked through what the issue(s) might be. Then he noticed a small damaged area I had overlooked, and advised me to buy a new one instead of having this one fixed. Paraphrased, he said, "I like to fix things and if there is not a high probability of a good outcome, I'd rather not take on a project." Jorge is The Man. The headphone jack in my old Yamaha receiver decided to go monaural a while back, and when I finally got around to looking for a repair center, I found Electro Tech via Yamaha's list of recommended service centers. I had called a couple of places closer to me that said they either couldn't, or wouldn't, work on the receiver. Jorge said no problem, bring it in, and had it fixed within 24 hours. He also did some long deferred maintenance like blowing out 25 years' worth of dust inside the chassis. All of this for a very reasonable price, and more importantly, he is a super pleasant man to do biz with. The shop is up Verdugo Rd, just a few blocks south of Montrose; strolling around on Honolulu Ave. is not a bad way to spend an hour or so either. read more

Boy are these guys idiots. They said they'd be here at 9 a.m. and it's currently 10:22 and no one has showed up. We called the office to leave a voicemail at 9:30 and no one returned it. We called again at 10 and someone finally answered to say that they came by but left because no one answered the door. We've been waiting by the door since 8:30 so these guys are clearly making up some bunk excuse to cover their @$$E$. Now they're saying it will take another hour to get here. WOW, really? I took my broken home theater receiver to Jorge at Electro Tech. While they were not able to fix my issue because of the manufacturer's limitation about using only factory authorized service centers, they tried to help me anyway. After over a month of trying different repairs, it just didn't work out and I'm taking the unit to an authorized dealer. What was great about Electro Tech was their great communication and how they handled my transaction. Jorge only charged me $25 for all the work he tried to do because he couldn't fix the problem. i honestly think this is one of those things where super upset people go on the internet to whine... if these people ever went to ANY OTHER electronics repair shop, they would know that $30 is an incredibly reasonable estimate charge (all shops have them) and that Electro Tec is a friendly, honest service to the community. If I could give these guys no stars I would. It's been a few years since I took anything to these guys but I had to write a review since they left such a bitter taste in my mouth. I've taken two electronic components to them. One was a CD car stereo which I took to them about 8 years ago and they could find nothing wrong with it, even though the sound volume on the unit had serious problems, but being so long ago I can't remember exactly what was the problem. All I know is they determined nothing was wrong with the unit and I was charged something like $30 to have them tell me this. Fast forward another 4-5 years and I have a car amplifier that will play sometimes and others not. I know, I should have learned my lesson, but Electro-Tec is on my way to work. So I gave them another chance and dropped the unit off with them. Once again, nothing wrong with the unit and I am charged a fee to have them tell me this. I found a guy in a roundabout way via eBay to look at my amplifier and he discovered the amp had loose RCA connecters. He re-soldered the connecters and the unit is as good as new. And he fixed it for $40 which included shipping the unit to him and back to me! 1besttech.com Unfortunately that website doesn't seem to be up anymore. As for Electro-Tec, I have nothing good to say about this place and am amazed they are still in business. Probably still staying afloat by charging people $30 to do nothing. read more

I recently had this repair shop work on my Pioneer 50" Plasma TV because it was randomly turning itself off. When I called and asked questions about what type of repair I needed I was immediately transferred to Jorge - a technician. Jorge helped me to troubleshoot the problem and his initial assessment was right on. Before I even spoke to Jorge I spoke to two other techs from other repair shops and researched the problem extensively online. Jorge seemed to be the most knowledgeable and offered me a repair quote right over the phone for $180 (all inclusive house call). Once he arrived at my home he was certain the problem was just cracked soldering joints in the Media Receiver. Some other techs wanted to replace the power supply for $600+. After he re-soldered dozens of joints the TV worked fine again - problem solved. Two weeks later - still no problems. Jorge was very professional, arrived on time, charged the quoted amount and fixed the problem. What more can you ask for? I highly recommend Electro Tec Services. read more

This is the best place to go if you need help with your electronics or soldering. I have a remote controlled helicopter and one of the transistor broke. I needed someone to solder the part back on. I went to Happy hobby, samys camera, orvac electronics. No one could help me. I found electronic Tec online. I call and ask them how much will they charge for soldering? Jorge was on the phone. He told me a reasonable price. When I got there I showed Jorge my problem. He was immediately happy to help and understood what needed to be done. He was very professional. He took my transmitters to his back office and in 15mins it was all solder on correctly and nicely and everything works again. He charge me the price he told me on the phone. I gladly paid him for his work, knowledge , experience and the service he performed for me. I then went back to happy hobby store and gave Jorge card to the manager, so they can refer people who needs a professional solder job. Anyone who need a good solder work should go to him!
