I called The Garage Door Guy based on a referral from a family friend. I wish I hadn't. They get a…read morestar only because they promptly call you back and are pleasant to talk to. Besides that, I would not recommend them. They started before I got home, diagnosed the problem incorrectly, "fixed the non issue", and realized their error only after I got home and assured them that wasn't the issue. Which after speaking to me they agreed with. They reset it, which took 2 minutes and required pushing a total of three buttons twice. For that I was charged $120. Then, when the problem reoccurred within two weeks I called the manufacturer and was told it was the travel module and I could replace it myself easily and the part was $18.12, or I could get one on Amazon for $25 ( I looked and that was Amazon's price). I spoke with Tim to see what they would charge since it seemed like an easy fix and they hadn't fixed it for the $120 I had already paid. I was told they would do it for $250! When I told him the part was $18, he sounded shocked I knew that and told me he couldn't get it for that. Apparently this company isn't able to source parts at market value.....? If I could get the part he would charge me $100 to put it in?? So, if the labor is $100 and the part is $18-$25.....where is the remaining $132-$125 coming from? This doesn't even make any sense. He also asked me what they charged me the first time. The employee that was out said that was their base rate, but speaking to Tim I got the impression that they don't have one. I ordered the part for $18 and it took me under 10 minutes to replace the travel module. It fixed the issue and I have zero experience with anything mechanical. These guys were going to vastly overcharge me at $100, the $250 is just them swindling someone they thought had no idea what it would actually cost to replace that part. These guys are dishonest and untrustworthy. I would recommend you find an honest company and run the other way when it comes to this one.
