We 1st contacted Jonatan for painting of a single room. in being new to Detroit Yelp has really been our guide. He responded quickly to our request a quote and actually read all the details we had listed out in the request, which was refreshing to nit receive an automated response. He then came out to quote our request and also provided quotes for what we were looking to do in the future. It was also wonderful to have his feedback on what was going on in our house as we were not so happy with our general contractor. We had started to feel like we were going a little insane from the gaslighting we were receiving from that contractor. The style is "fancy Olive Garden" (Tuscan) and the living room had lightly textured walls that were probably all the rage in 2005. My living room is...expansive and an 18 ft ceiling height. We purchased a home that desperately needed to be painted, and Jonatan came out for a quote and even gave us a great recommendation on someone to do some drywall and re-plastering of our textured plaster walls. Without these two, the inside of our house would not look as great as it does today. When it came to painting, everything was handled with care or removed from the walls so nothing was damaged. All of the rooms look flawless and the fresh coat of paint made everything look new and shiny. It was worth every single penny. Cannot echo the amazing reviews enough. Had a ceiling issue where I had caused some damage installing a light and was worried that the mistake would cost me a new entire ceiling roll. We needed the interior of two properties painted and we had a crew member come out to give us an estimate. They took photos of what needed to be done and said they would follow up with the cost. We never got a response so we followed up and received an apology and a promise that an estimate would follow in the next couple of weeks. We never heard another word from this company. We had a great experience working with Jonatan and team doing the full exterior painting of our historic brick house in Detroit. When researching, we didn't see many reviews for their exterior work so we were a little apprehensive, but they did a wonderful job. It ended up being more than they bargained for because of the rough shape our exterior was in and some additional work was needed to prep the house for paint, but he was a great communicator throughout the process and stuck to the original quote despite it needing several more days of work. Great Precision and Attention to Detail We are renovating an historic home in Detroit's University District and were referred to Elegance Painting by the Benjamin Moore store near our home. The house has many features that we wanted to preserve, and many that we are committed to restoring. When looking for a painter, we knew we needed professionals who understood how to treat and paint plaster walls (most of the house) as well as drywall. And who could offer us advice on products and techniques on some of the restorations that needed special handling that we wanted to do ourselves (HVAC grills, original wrought iron railings). In speaking with Jonatan (owner) about Elegance Painting's approach, we were impressed with his depth of knowledge, range of skills, and focus on precision work. This house is about 3,000 square feet and essentially every wall, ceiling, piece of trim and many doors needed paint. Our priority was that the painting be done carefully, with quality products, and without damage to the newly-restored hardwood floors or the chandelier in the dining room. Also that the finished look have clean lines and that "infinity edge" between the wall and the ceiling that professional painters know how to create. Mmm, the smell of fresh paint! Excuse me, as I'm still a little high on customer satisfaction. My journey with this company began after the last bad experience I had with a no-name Craigslist painter that bait & switched me on price and product after he began working. I settled and terminated that job before he could finish a bedroom in my suburban home. Yes, you may spend less up front on an uninsured Craigslist painter, but you will risk and pay more in the long run on a shoddy job. In the ultimate list of jobs rendered to me, an excellent paintjob is the 2nd most important to me. So you can see the standard that Elegance had to live up to. Enter Elegance Painting: spoken on favorably by my colleague who used them for his oft-complimented Oakland County Bloomfield Hills home. I started out by navigating their website, which by the way was beautiful and easy to navigate (like my wife was before we got married). Requesting a quote was a breeze. I was immediately contacted by Jon, a partner of the company itself, on how his team can come out and take a look at the house to move forward after on a free quote. This was done promptly within days. I appreciated the input their project manager Kim had towards the vision on our job. Our conversations with Elegance were organic, and we arrived at the best color scheme, type of paint used, job timeline, cleanliness expectations all in a no-pressure sort of vibe. Loved it. I was wary of it all being a fancy opening act, until their 3-day paint job of nearly our whole home (minus basement and laundry room) all went immaculately. Any trivial surprises to the job or minimal drywall repairs didn't result in changes to our quote (though a couple previously undiscovered repairs did incur reasonable modifications to pricing). They even added some nice touches to their work out of sheer love for the art of perfection. My wife and I were thoroughly impressed at the end of the job. The semi-gloss in the kitchen and gloss in the bathrooms turned out particularly well, considering those paints are more difficult to work with and tend to show more blemishes and drips. The eggshell/matte finishes in the rest of the home covered previous imperfections with a luxurious coat of paint. The earthy, light sage green tone we chose in the formal dining is by far our favorite room, and extra shout out to Kim for her input on that choice. I appreciated that all their staff is very versed and up to date on modern interior design themes. I looked over the job at the end, and was just amazed at how nothing was rushed, and couldn't spot anything worth complaining about. There was no decrease in quality of work towards the final rooms either. Fine attention to detailed, steady-paced stalwart work. Highly recommend this up and coming local gem, Elegance Painting, especially if you live in Oakland County.
