We were a last minute- late check in and were pleased that they were able accommodate us. Receptionist was friendly and warm, answered any questions we had. They ask for prepayment for the accommodation. Once payment was made, she quickly gave us our keycard and wifi info, and we were on the way to our room. Room: We were given a room on the second floor overlooking the street up front. Room was simple, it had a window type ac unit, hot and cold rainfall shower in the bathroom, a foldable table, and 2 beds (one was a full size the other single). The ac ran medium cold but was very loud while in operation. Room was directly across from the elevator but noises did not come from there, it came from outside and in the hallway. I'm not sure it was just our luck or what, but the night over was full of noises. Slamming doors in the hallway to arguments outside. I tossed and turned all night, and woke up super early without getting a full nights rest. However, the room provided the neccessary amenities such as the super hot shower and ac, for what I paid for it was still a value compared to other places in the area. Overall: They were running a promo and a room started at 880 pesos and up. We opted for the 1,000 pesos room, described above. I say, request a room away from the street, it may help with the noise. Just a heads up they do provide free parking, but the parking area is tiny. Free wifi in room and lobby. I'd stay here again just for the pricing alone.

The lobby is pretty hip and I even saw that a private party had rented it out for a Halloween party. Besides that, this hotel has little more to offer than a bed to sleep in. The website shows photos of trendy light filled rooms but based on my experience -- it's all Photoshop. The bed is a bit hard, the sheets and towels are scratchy. But there was WiFi, air conditioning, and best of all privacy from my family that I had just spent two weeks vacationing with so I really can't complain. For quick stays this place is tops, just don't expect a relaxing getaway.

I stayed here two nights, one night each bookending a trip to Bohol. Since we flew into Cebu and preferred to take the ferry to Bohol in daylight, we opted to stay here to start and finish our trip to the Philippines. First, the rooms are incredibly spacious and reasonably priced, but be aware that taxes are pretty hefty. When booking, just double check what the final cost will be, with taxes. (Our room for 3 adults ran us around $170 per night.) Our first night we booked the extra large room and it was massive. After around 24 hours of traveling, it was nice for my friend traveling with us to have her own sub-room and private bathroom in addition to our room with shared common space and a bomb digging, massive bathroom with shower and tub. Breakfast buffet is also included and is not bad at all, offering more than just the traditional continental breakfast. There is also a lovely pool in the back, but got those of you looking to get a good sweat in you should be aware that there is no gym onsite. (And since you're in a congested downtown area, it's not an ideal place to run outside.) If there is one suggestion I would make, it would be forego having the hotel book your transportation on your behalf more often than not. We learned that they charge close to 400 pesos more that the typical white taxi fare from the airport. Out of convenience, I requested they arrange a pick up to the airport on our way back out of town, and the receptionist forgot. In the morning when I went to check on the status, the morning desk staff realized it had not been booked the night before and went ahead and called someone for us. What we didn't realize was that this would take an additional half and hour and charge us a substantial amount more, when we could have just hailed a cab at that time of day and been on our way with a little more money in our pockets. It would be nice if they at least made the suggestion or made you more aware of your options. The one time I do think it would have been worthwhile to arrange transportation would have been a pick up from the ferry building. On the way back from Bohol we arrived after sunset, and the area just felt more sketch and unregulated than during the day time. We had some semi aggressive fellows trying to convince us they were cab drivers and kept motioning for us to come around the corner with them to get in the cab. Our spidey senses told us something was off and we made sure to stay close to the well lit front of the building and flex our patience waiting for a cab at that time. (We thought there would have been tons, but they were far and few between.) Otherwise, our stay was nearly perfect and I would strongly recommend!

It wasn't terribly far from everything. The view isn't great but I wasn't expecting anything anyway. There's a cafe by the lobby, and the front desk can help you with airport transfer, plus print your itinerary for you. I would probably stay again, even if just for the funky and fun decor. I did enjoy how spacious the rooms were. Oh yeah - the air conditioning works REALLY well. A little TOO well, actually. I was freezing my butt off, even after raising the temperature! We were quite pleased with the reservation desk. The woman helping us was very fluent in English; like almost all the Filipinos we have encountered in the Philippines and very hospitable and accommodating. There is a brunch included with your reservation; not to mention everything in mini fridge in the room is absolutely complimentary. The decor is so chic and the rooms were so nice and spacious. I booked a Family Suite (PA) which describes as * Pool Access, * 1 Queen Size Bed * 2 Single Bed * 2 Baths and * 1 mini Kitchen. The receptionist insisted that the family suite I got was on the 3RD FLOOR and they had NO ELEVATOR. They also asked me to pay the full PHP15,600 as they said I haven't made any payment yet when the online booking was made. That was the opposite of what was said on the confirmation email saying that the amount to be paid at the property was PHP7,800. I asked for a manager to help verify the reservation. The receptionist looked at each other. One smirked while the other one just replied, "that's what really happens when you book online". They didn't give me a manager. My family was tired from the trip and we didn't know much of other places to go that may be vacant or can accommodate us by the time we get there. Our feet were black with dirt because their floors are not clean. We found out dirty streaks of mop marks. Looked like it was not cleaned for days or they might have used the same dirty water from the other rooms they also cleaned. Towels are limited to the number of guests for the room, stiff and rough. It smelled like it was recently used then air-dried. They ask for additional fee for towels too! I paid extra for an additional guest and they didn't even give me an extra bed, not even a rollover. These place is a RIP OFF! And with the price I paid, didn't even include breakfast. The place is so crowded with day users using the pool. You wont be able to use it not til night time when they are gone by 9PM. We noticed in the morning, the pool had dirty bubbles and GREASE residue on the corners! Water slides smelled like pee. And is not safe for kids! Wifi is horrible! works for an hour and kicks you out. We had to keep asking reception for a code which didn't work. We checked out and asked for a paper to leave comments and suggestions and they said they ran out. They didn't even give at least a blank paper where I can write on. I highly recommend STAYING AWAY from this hotel if you are big on safety, hygiene, and good service. Their hotel staff are rude, and they are not at all bothered to show it. I just learned after the stay too that this hotel has had several complaints from other local customers because they are unsanitary. This hotel is a big fat joke! Don't waste your money on them!

All the staff members have been pleasant and accomodating. The only negative is that there is not much storage space for clothes. The "closet" is out in the open, meaning there's no closet, which only allows you to hang clothes. I had to live out of my suitcase, which isn't the worst. However, it seems like Holiday Inn forgot the closet in the original design for the hotel and added storage in at the last minute. All in all, the Holiday Inn Cebu City has been an excellent choice for our trip to the city.

Also, a service charge is added onto your bill. I spent way too much money here as you are trapped with nothing close by. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere and save a good chunk of money. This hotel should be a third of the price, considering how many amenities were not functioning. The rooms are a good size, but I don't really care for wicker used as indoor furniture. All the furnishings in the hotel feel worn and dated. Waterfront is a misnomer because the view is of the airport. I am taking this franchise off my list.
