So-called buffet was beef in gravy, seasoned chicken, boiled potatoes, corn, and carrot cake. Everything was either under seasoned or seasoned in such a way that left a bad taste in your mouth. Carrot cake was less than average. That night, I got sick due to the beef I had eaten. The cooks from this company need to learn how to cook properly.

We didn't make things easy on them, requesting a good chunk of the menu to be made dairy-free yet we heard compliments on every dish. To be honest they were almost too good as folks kept going back for more instead of dancing! We love this family business that uses home-grown ingredients whenever possible and we'll be looking for their food truck at local events for a long time (we didn't use the food truck at our event but it's a fun surprise every time we see it out in the wild).

This is THE place to see bands within an hour radius. Through the years they've consistently had the best lineups and best dance area. I've been to Shawbucks/The Press Room AT LEAST 60 times since 2016, but I'm bad about remembering to check in on Yelp. Let's start with the amazing owner who treats bands and staff so well. He genuinely loves and takes pride in his business which shows. Bartenders hustle! Wednesday before Thanksgiving We Speak Canadian had the bars, tables, and dance floor PACKED shoulder to shoulder. Bartenders were ontop of it and wait times were very reasonable. No favoritism at all, everyone was served promptly. Even bouncers and the owner helped clear tables, the stage edge, bathrooms, and random places people leave empty drinks. This is a safe place to see bands that tolerates zero nonsense. Security are very active and present. IDs are checked and rules are enforced to maintain a safe comfortable venue. Even metal shows aren't too rowdy. Food is absolutely amazing! Best mushroom gravy meatloaf of my life. Amazing sword fish filet. Mind blowing risotto. Great wings with a great sauce selection. Solid chicken fingers/tenders. Fresh crisp salads. Great dressings. Perfectly made cocktails. Large beer selection. Friendly fast waitresses. Very clean place! No sticky bar floors, menus, or tables. I highly recommend them for food and going to see bands live! This was supposed to be our birthday celebration trip, but it gets worse! Next day, around 2 PM, every fire alarm in the building started going off, and continued to go off for the next two hours. We were not forewarned that fire alarms were going to be tested during our stay. Because of the noise, we were forced to go outside, where we were met by more landscapers making noise. To cap things off, a rancid smell became noticeable in the second floor hallway the day we arrived, then got progressively worse, so by the time we departed on the last day it smelled like something had died on the second floor. Other guests staying on the second floor also mentioned their concerns. We left notes for hotel management regarding our displeasure, but received no compensation. We will not be back!

It seems like the entries for jams, jellies and pickles are a smaller group every year. Maybe the farmers are retiring! There are still spectacular quilts hanging from the rafters, and adult and junior photography samples line the walls. 4-H has it's own pavilion now, behind the Domestic Arts one. While the market goats, sheep, rabbits and calves are in other barns, there are dioramas explaining how a successful farmer (of any age!) raises an animal. Like the Erie County Fair, the Cattaraugus County Fair has a booth by the Department of Health where one can get a free, wrapped dose of nasal narcan. (DH and I saved a teenager from an OD last month in Ontario; but that's another story). So yes, we did each want another dose of antidote. Request it, sign for it, watch a one minute explanatory cartoon, and away you go. The DOH booth is under the grandstand seating, next to a concession that sells slices of a dozen different varieties of pies. (Yelpers, you have an assignment!) The vibe is very much a celebration of farm life: Lots of teenagers in cowboy boots and rodeo shirts; little kids in face paint, and grown men with hats of the type of tractor they favor. It's such a small Fair, as a parent you can be confident about letting the teenagers or older children have a "free-range" experience with their friends. It's fenced, so it's well contained, and there's volunteer FFs, EMS, mounted patrol, and sheriff's deputies from all over the county. The gate fee includes the cost of all rides: $17 cash, $18 credit, free if the child is younger than two. Parking near the gate is $5, which goes to support local youth programs; there's free parking about a quarter mile down the sidewalk from the gate.

I mean campi pizza is literally a flavorless loaf of bread with a tiny sprinkling of cheese that doesn't even cover the sauce and 4 thin slices of pepperoni for $5 a slice *gag*. The demolition derbies, truck pulls, concerts, and monster trucks are cool, but other than that meh. I recommend going at night to see an event getting taffy and funnel cake before it and racing out after.
