I hold Shawbucks/The Press Room near and dear to my heart because this place was a big part of my young adulthood and life as such an avid music fan and foodie. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is THE place to see bands within an hour radius. Through the years they've consistently had the best lineups and best dance area[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm updating my review because what was already an AMAZING place has gotten even better throughout the years.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I last reviewed them in 2016 and have had 25 Yelp confirmed check ins since. I've been to Shawbucks/The Press Room AT LEAST 60 times since 2016, but I'm bad about remembering to check in on Yelp. Let's start with the amazing owner who treats bands and staff so well. He genuinely loves and takes pride in his business which shows. Bartenders hustle! Wednesday before Thanksgiving We Speak Canadian had the bars, tables, and dance floor PACKED shoulder to shoulder. Bartenders were ontop of it and wait times were very reasonable. No favoritism at all, everyone was served promptly. Even bouncers and the owner helped clear tables, the stage edge, bathrooms, and random places people leave empty drinks. This is a safe place to see bands that tolerates zero nonsense. Security are very active and present. IDs are checked and rules are enforced to maintain a safe comfortable venue. Even metal shows aren't too rowdy. Food is absolutely amazing! Best mushroom gravy meatloaf of my life. Amazing sword fish filet. Mind blowing risotto. Great wings with a great sauce selection. Solid chicken fingers/tenders. Fresh crisp salads. Great dressings. Perfectly made cocktails. Large beer selection. Friendly fast waitresses. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very clean place! No sticky bar floors, menus, or tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I highly recommend them for food and going to see bands live! Side Note: I got teary eyed when DJ Fish's daughter got on stage to announce We Speak Canadian. RIP DJ Fish, he was such a big part of Jamestown's music scene and a wonderful man. I had an amazing dinner. I was in from out of town and took my mom and sisters here I had the upside down meatloaf with mash potatoes smothered with a mushroom gravy. It was more than I could eat . I five star meal at an amazing price. I highly recommend this dinning experience. Portions are large but the quality is absolutely top notch. Friendly staff. We stopped at Shawbuck's for dinner. We've been traveling and eating out a lot recently, but the dinner at Shawbuck'a was so good, I'm taking the time to post a review. Our waitress, Summer, gave excellent service. She recommended the pot roast, and it was hands down the best restaurant pot roast I've ever had. My husband got the salmon, which had a delicious glaze. Visited from out of town and was looking for good bar food. This place was amazing! The service was great and the locals were very welcoming. I had the 5 hot wings. The sauce was very thin and had a lot of vinegar base. I'm not a huge fan of that type of sauce. However, the wing itself was delicious, crisp and cooked all the way through perfectly. We stopped here for dinner before an event at the Reg Lenna theater. I'm glad we made reservations, as the place was full by the time we left. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was comfy and, although there were a lot of people, the tables are spaced rather far apart so you don't feel like it's crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was wonderful and deftly deflected all of my stupid jokes And one-liners with a smile and laugh. We had the arachini (deep fried risotto balls) for an appetizer which were wonderful. We had the upside-down meatloaf and the pork chop dinners...both very good and more than ample portions. We don't get to Jamestown very often, but would definitely be regular customers if we lived closer. If you're in the area, give it a try! read more

Upside down meatloaf was a hit with my husband! He really liked the piping hot onion soup too. I asked for a half salad with grilled chicken and they were able to accommodate my request, it was still big, but so good! Drink menu was mostly vodka drinks but we are bourbon drinkers. My wife and I visited Jamestown, NY for the first time last week, and on our last night there we stumbled across Shawbucks. We had such a great time! The drinks were reasonably priced and we loved the energy of the establishment. The staff was friendly and helpful. We also got to meet the owner, who was also very kind and welcoming. The other patrons (there happened to be a bridal party on this night) were very kind as well. We had such a good experience, we will definitely be returning next time we're in town! read more

It's been a while since going out, for the second night of ever coming to Shawbucks it's been pretty incredible. Between the bartenders, DJ, and Space inside it'll be a night you won't forget. My co-worker and I stopped here for dinner and drinks. It looks like a local hangout which are always the best places to go to. My co-worker had the Chicken Breast and I had the Braised Pot Roast, which was delicious. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The bourbon choices could be upgraded but we still had a pleasant time. Will be back when in the area. read more

What a find. Delicious comfort food served with a smile in a comfy, clean, attractive, hometown tavern atmosphere. And they have a few vegan options. Do not, I say, do NOT miss the house-made peach-pecan vinaigrette. We were delighted with the place and the kind service we received from Natalya (hoping I got her name right). It's gotta be a local favorite. The fantastic National Comedy Center is directly across the street and the Lucy-Desi Museum just a short walk away. We were visiting Chautauqua Lake, in search of a good place to eat on a Tuesday night. The food was delicious! Our teenagers had pizza and grilled chicken salad and were pleased with both. My husband and I each had salmon: one pan fried, one grilled, and both were perfect. The sides, smashed potatoes and risotto, were great too. Our server was wonderful! She and the bartender were taking care of all the tables, and it was moderately busy. The food came out fresh and hot. Overall, a great experience! read more

We were in Jamestown NY to visit the National Comedy Museum. Stayed at LaQuinta. Decided on Shawbucks for dinner as it is a block from LaQuinta and a block from the Museum. The food was great and a big portion my wife and I had the and this is the description from their menu: Chicken Ala Delicious Juicy Grilled Chicken Breast, Covered in a Creamy White Garlic Sauce and Crusted with an Asiago Italian Cheese Blend, served over Linguini 14.99. It was very good and a huge portion. The chicken was tender and moist. They must brown it first then mix it in the Linguini. We both at half of ours and luckily our room had a mini fridge and we kept it cold. Next morning we packed it in ice in our cooler bag and it stayed cold during our 4 hour ride back home. Had it for dinner 2 nights later. Server was friendly and proficient. I recommend Starbucks. read more

Just stopped for drinks at the bar before a show at the arena. Place was packed, but the service was excellent. I'd like to note that the owners were there, bussing tables on a Saturday night. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. We arrived on a Saturday night and low and behold there was a class reunion going on so we were pretty much crammed in there like little sardines. It was also very loud, louder than I expected, but with all those people guess we can't be surprised. After a couple hours most of that group left and it was much more comfortable. Had a shock top and also decided to order the French dip. Nice sized sandwich and great flavor, came with fries. They offer some great food for drunk people! And for those of us who only have 1 beer. While traveling through western NY we found a great place for meals or late nights. Located in a historic area across from a train station in Jamestown New York is The Pressroom. Its in the original old brick building of an old newspaper. Atmosphere was nice, a large separate bar area and a more intimate dining area. Varied menu including lots of appetizers, salads, flat bread pizzas and full dinner items. I had the pressroom pizza that was excellent with steak and lots of other toppings. My spouse had the strip steak and it was done perfectly. The bar known as Shawbucks, is very active late at night too with many great bands. We would highly recommend this spot. read more

Definetly a local spot for the people from Jamestown. Not a band thing since I'm not from here. Good for them! Seems like a lot of people know each other and really really enjoy themselves. No drafts..just bottles..any man who drinks can adjust. Service was prompt and I always was checked on. That's what matters to me..no BURBON though!?! Only Jim Bean? That's was a little bummer since I was on the road for 6 hrs and looking forward to a nice one to decompress. I can adjust but that one was hard. Nice place..very comfortable with live music.
